Psychiatrists sign petition against Trump
Back in the 1990's I didn't have access to the internet, but I read newspapers often. I was impressed with a newspaper story that was published in the March 2, 1998 issue of the Detroit News. The story was written by an Associated Press writer named John Diamond, and it was titled: 'Be unpredictable in nuke policy, study urges'. I've still got a photo-copy of that newspaper story. The story says that the U.S.A. should maintain the threat of nuclear retaliation with an 'irrational and vindictive' streak to intimidate other countries. I am quoting from the article, it says 'irrational and vindictive'.
This recommendation came from a U.S. government study that was made public in 1989, the study was titled 'Essentials of Post-Cold War Deterrence'. That was in 1989. Today, nineteen years after that article was written, the Pentagon has finally got the irrational and vindictive nuclear policy that they wanted, they've got it embodied in the man known as Donald Trump. They've got a lunatic in the white house, and this lunatic has got his finger on the nuclear button, ready to kill millions of innocent people. I'm not the only one who is saying that Trump is a lunatic. There are 41,000 psychiatrists who are saying the same thing. It was only a few weeks ago when a group of mental health professionals, including psychiatrists and psychologists from all over America signed a petition. After only a few weeks, they gathered over 41,000 signatures, and these are the signatures of 41,000 psychotherapists who are calling for Trump to be removed from office because he is mentally ill. Trump is insane.
If you've been reading stories on the internet about Trump's antics, you've probably already heard about some of the remarks Trump has made. What about the time that he said a traitor should be thrown out of an airplane, as his punishment for treason? The U.S. constitution makes 'cruel and unusual punishment' illegal. Throwing someone out of an airplane would certainly be cruel and unusual punishment. Trump had endorsed torture of prisoners, saying simply, 'Torture works!'. Trump has tried to ban Moslems from traveling to the U.S.A. solely on the basis of their religion, although the U.S. constitution grants freedom of religion. The Civil rights Act of 1964 also establishes a degree of religious freedom, so it's obvious that Trump wants to stand in violation of the U.S. constitution and also stand in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
I think that the petition that was signed by 41,000 American psychiatrists was not enough. Similar petitions should be circulated in foreign countries. In Russia, all the psychiatrists in Russia should sign a petition that says keep Trump out of Russia because Trump is insane. In France, all the French psychiatrists should sign a petition that says keep Trump out of France, because Trump is insane. In Germany, all the German psychiatrists should sign a petition that says Trump should be kept out of Germany. It is my sincere wish that all of Trump's supporters will someday be held responsible for this outrage.
