Real America... by Merwin
I wrote this as a comment in my Hub...
I will take a moment and clarify some of my comments about Obama's lack of love for this country, written in the Hub link above...
"...and Obama seems to hate it." And in another place I said, "...down deep he does not love this country of ours."
The reasons I take this position are many, but best described by my stating... there has been precious few modern day Presidents that have not hated this country. One of the last paragraphs to this Hub was...
"I am not hopeful for this beautifully gifted country, mainly because of the cancerous political machinery (puppets of central banking) that will not allow for the Sarah Palins from its own populace to come forward and "do the right thing".
(See... Mr. Smith goes to Washington - Jimmy Stewart) "
I still prefer Alan Keyes for President over all the possible Ron Paul(s) (though I like him too), or Sarah Palin(s) because of Mr. Keyes' heart for the country and his genius intellect.
Ultimately I do not believe the Political Machine will allow anyone who loves this country and what it is supposed to represent, to get into office, or if they are elected, to stay in office.
I do not know what others (Palin) may mean by "Real America", but what I think it might be, and what it is for me, is best described in MLK's seventeen minute speech where among those things so eloquently preached were...
"The marvelous new militancy which has engulfed the Negro community must not lead us to a distrust of all white people. For many of our white brothers as evidenced by their presence here today have come to realize that their destiny is tied up with our destiny and they have come to realize that their freedom is inextricably bound to our freedom. We cannot walk alone."
"I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.'"
"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character."
"This is our hope. This is the faith that I go back to the South with. With this faith we will be able to hew out of the mountain of despair a stone of hope. With this faith we will be able to transform the jangling discords of our nation into a beautiful symphony of brotherhood. With this faith we will be able to work together, to pray together, to struggle together, to go to jail together, to stand up for freedom together, knowing that we will be free one day."
(thank you Wikipedia)
Rev King did not have his "Real America" then, neither do we now, but there is a Real America beating within our hearts.
MLK had it in his, JFK in his, RFK, in his, it is simply tragic that those who will not sell out this country to the global bankers (lack of capitalization is intentional) will either not get into office or will not last if they do.
