I love to share my favorite ideas from around the web for people out there who like working from home as much as I do!

Reusing or Recycling Egg Cartons and Eggs Shells at Home

The egg carton is empty, don't throw it away! There are dozens of ways you can use an egg carton around the house. Storage, seed starting, and crafts are just a few ways those empty cartons can be turned into something valuable.

Did you know egg shells are valuable too? They are wonderful for fertilizing soil by composting. When your egg shells are empty add them to the compost bin or save them for a variety of useful crafts also.

Reusing Egg Cartons

3 Ways to Reuse an Egg Carton

Egg cartons can usually be recycled, but reuse benefits the environment more than recycling. By putting egg cartons to use in your home, energy is not consumed in the recycling process. Here are 15 ways to put an egg carton to reuse today.

1. Organize small objects, such as buttons, pins, change, or beads.

2. Starting Seeds in the Spring.

3. If you know some one that raises chickens, they would be happy to have them for storing the eggs.

In addition to these common reuses, there are so many crafty ways to reuse egg cartons and egg shells. Many of them are perfect for the Easter holiday.

With some egg cartons, pipe cleaners, and tissue paper, you can make these egg carton paper tulips. They are a perfect spring craft project, or a beautiful Easter gift. In this tutorial, egg cartons are used to make the outside of the tulip, but I have seen egg shells used for this also, just be much more careful when poking the hole in the bottom of the eggshell, so as not to crush it. This is a great way to reuse egg shells that have already been broken in half.

You can separate your jewelry so that your necklaces and bracelets don't get tangled up. You can also put pairs of earrings together.

The cardboard egg cartons can also be easily made into bats for Halloween time crafting for kids. You are so right that there are so many uses for everyday household items. We just need to look at our trash with a little different eye. In long ago years gone by they recycled virtually anything they could from their grocery purchased.

We buy our eggs from a local farmer. We recycle by simply returning our empty egg cartons for him to refill with fresh eggs. Great lens! Thanks!
