I love to share my favorite ideas from around the web for people out there who like making things as much as I do!

Old Milk Jugs for Reuse

Ways to Recycle and Reuse a Milk Jugs for Fun

Next time you finish your milk, don't throw the jug away. Don't put it in the recycling bin either. Instead, repurpose it! Reusing our trash, and giving new purpose to would be waste, is good for the environment. You'll be amazed by all the clever things that can be made by reusing a plastic milk jug.

Ways to Reuse a Milk Jug

Plastic milk jugs are wonderful for watering garden plants or small trees because they allow the water to trickle out slowly and ensure it penetrates the ground rather than running off the hard top crust of the soil. Poke a few holes in the bottom edge of a milk jug. Carry them to a vegetable garden, or small tree that needs water. Just leave the jug for a while until the water has time to trickle out.

Here are cute instructions for getting children involved in decorating the jugs and using them as watering cans.

Another great way to use a milk jug in the garden is as a cloche. Cloches cover small plants during the possibility of frost to keep them from dying. A cloche can be made easily from a milk jug by removing the top and covering the plant tapping the top down slightly into the soil.

More Ways to Reuse a Milk Jug

Like any large plastic container, milk jugs can easily have the top removed and be used as storage. Sometimes, I cover mine with contact paper, but it isn't necessary. Milk jugs are very useful for storage because the plastic is clear, so the stored contents inside can be seen easily. Also, the handle can be left in tact to make carrying the container easier for young children.

Many young boys can't get enough of toy cars. Used milk jugs can be converted into a toy car garage with a little creativity and construction paper. This milk jug looks so real because of the detail that went into decorating it with construction paper and markers.
