Whose remains are these, and could they be the missing teenager?

When Anjelica Hadsell was reported missing, her face, her story and her disapperance became part of the lives of people in Norfolk, Virginia, as well as those across the country as investigators, family, and friends aided in the search for the missing Norfolk teenager. Tonight those same people are on the edge of their seats, waiting for the human remains found in the midst of searching for Hadsell to be identified, but the question is, could they be that of the missing teenager? At this point the remains have not yet been positively identified, and have been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Southampton County for analysis and to be positively identified. While waiting for positive identification. The Hadsell family has been notified that human remains have been found, but at this time authorities are not indicating who brought forth the tip that led them to search the area where the remains were found.

Anjelica Hadsell went missing

Anjelica went missing while on spring break from Longwood University. Hadsell seemed to have disappeared from her Tarrallton area home on March 2, 2015. A number of agencies have pulled together to aid in the search for the missing Norfolk teenager, including the FBI, Virginia State Police, and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. In the days following AJ’s disappearance, not much information was known, but suspicion quickly grew as many started to believe that AJ’s dad may have had something to do with her disappearance.

The location of the human remains, does it show any clues?

Outside of placing the blame on AJ’s dad in connection to her disappearance, authorities turn their attention to the location the human remains were actually found, including talking to neighbors. Thursday morning authorities found human remains outside of a Southampton home, that home neighbor’s state had been abandoned for a number of years, and that no one had been at the home until a few weeks ago. The neighbor told investigators that a friend had seen a blue or black Dodge Caravan going into the driveway of the home in the middle of the night, driving around the back of the abandoned home with no headlights on, could that be a clue?

Shortly before finding the human remains, authorities searched a retention pond in Isle of Wight saying that they were led to that area after they received a tip, however, they were unable to find anything. What is really interesting is that neighbors near the pond reported that they noticed a suspicious looking vehicle in the area around the time that the young teenager went missing.

Is AJ’s dad, Wesley Hadsell to blame?

As I stated above, a lot of suspicion is being focused on AJ’s dad, Wesley Hadsell as the investigation goes on. Could Wesley Hadsell been driving the suspicious looking vehicle? Well let’s look at his behavior and see if there is reason to believe he’s guilty. It is reported that not to long after AJ was reported missing, the Norfolk Police Department released a statement outlining their reasons for not thinking that any foul play was involved in the disappearance. Recently that has changed since the arrest of her adoptive father, Wesley Hadsell on charges stemming from breaking and entering, obstruction of justice, and even weapons charges. Hadsell continues to maintain that he has nothing to do with his adoptive daughter’s disappearance, but remains within the Norfolk County jail.

My heart goes out to the Hadsell family

As we continue to wait to see if these remains belong to AJ Hadsell, my heart continues to go out to the friends and family who have been and continue to remain hopeful that AJ will be found safe and sound. If the remains do turn out to be that of the missing teenager, it is within my hope that the authorities are able to solve the case in a timely manner and that whoever harmed this young lady gets punished to the full extent of the law. Meanwhile, Timothy Moran, a spokesperson for the family said in a statement Thursday night “on behalf of the Hadsell family, we’d like to first thank the Norfolk PD, search and rescue, donators and businesses. It has not been confirmed with the coroner’s office that it is, in fact, AJ. We ask that the media and public continue to respect the family”.
