Republicans! Do they have our Best interests in mind or theirs?

Updated on September 19, 2011

What is it that makes the rich and the Republicans think that it is right for them to get tax breaks and get out of paying their fair share, thus laying the burden of carrying the tax burden on the backs of hardworking citizens that for the most part are out of work due to 8 years of Bushonomics. Eight years that have crippled the country and the majority of it's citizens. The Republicans are acting like schoolchildren refusing to play nice with the rest of the children. When the President lays out a plan that will help the middle-class and not harm anyone, but will dip into the pockets of the republican FAT-CATS (who can well afford it) the republicans dig in their heals and fight tooth and nail to make sure that their tax breaks don't get repealed.

We the people are dying! It's not that we don't want to work it's just that eight years of Bushonomics has done what the enemy has not been able to do. What are we doing sitting back and letting the Republicans line their pockets with the sweat of our brows. Pretty soon they won't be able to because we will all be out of work, on welfare and there won't be anyone working to pay for it. What is wrong with everyone paying their fair share not just the blue collar worker. We can't continue to pay for everything we are tapped out, and there are no jobs for us to work.

The roll of Republican hopefuls is a lineup of idiots, that are just opening their mouths and spewing whatever spills out. There is no thought to what they are saying, and there is a total lack of intelligence that is making itself known and we (the American people) are falling for it. We sit back and let the republicans run the show, when that is our job, they are supposed to be working for us but instead they are serving their own selfish purposes and we are letting them get away with it. We knew what the republicans stood for and we ( The American people) voted them right back in so they could do it to us again. What is wrong with us. They line their pockets while we suffer and WE vote them back in.

Why is it that they would rather buck the president and let the people suffer than breathe? It's astounding that they can be so petty and childish, and that is what is going on. Boehnor is sitting there whining that the president is not going to get his way, it doesn’t matter if the people suffer or not, he's going to have his way. We can't let that happen. There needs to be some pressure exerted by us WE THE PEOPLE. It's up to us what are we going to do? We can't let them do more damage to our country, make your voices heard, write your congressman, let them know that you are not going to stand for their foolishness any longer. WE THE PEOPLE, are the one's in charge it's time we let it be known! Don't let them be the cause of having your life interrupted!

Agreed, everyone who has a higher income and/or net-worth than I should be paying more so that I can receive some benefit. Especially, the elderly. They are significantly richer than I yet I have to support them through Social Security and Medicaid. Just another poor, hard-working sap being forced to pay so some rich retiree can get that new hip or a free-flu shot. Parasites all.

Well Said! I personally think that the republican party is staging for a huge loss. I am not a democrat nor do I think at this point that it matters. The entire country is watching this dog and pony show that has yet to delve deep into the real issues. It's a shame that we are watching televised tug-of-war. Imagine what kind of country we would have if legislators got paid per bills passed instead of set salary for passing the wooden nickel. I agree, great read!

Very well said Valerie. The Republican policies led to this financial meltdown and the Bush tax cuts led to the biggest wealth shift from the middle class to the rich in history. Now they want more of the same. I hope the people of this country start waking up to this greed and nonsense. Great article Valerie.

The historic economic power of The United States has always depended on the willingness of its citizens to contribute their fair share of money to keep it running. Obama isn't after the shrinking incomes of the middle classes, on the contrary, he is demanding that the richest citizens give up some of their unfair perks and help to get the economy back to a healthy balance.

Now that was an excellent Rant. It expressed the sentiments of millions across the Nation that voted them in again, after Bush. Now they are telling us IT'S OBAMA'S FAULT UNEMPLOYMENT IS 9.1%. When you are broke and hungry and homeless brainwashing is more affective. Vote up & useful

Valerie, this was a fine example of the unfair pressure put on the middle class and the poor. Mr. Boehner and his gang of selfish, corrupt idiots will take this country down because they don't want The POTUS to get anything done. They don't care about the people only the RICH people and of course their Corporate sponsors. We still Have the vote but not for long, they are working on taking that too. They must be callede to task and voted out and prosecuted if necessary. Good HUB,

      Peter
