STATUS OF INDIAN WOMEN

Updated on March 8, 2010

THE TRUTH BEHIND THE FACADE

TODAY MARKS THE 100 YEARS OF WOMENS DAY IT IS A SPECIAL DAY ,BUT FOR ME IT IS JUST ANOTHER SYMBOLIC ATTEMPT TO MARK A PLATITUDE.WHILE THE WOMEN RESERVATION BILL IS BEING PASSED IF IT DOES BECOME A LAW IT WILL A HISTORIC EVENT IN THE LIVES OF THE INDIAN WOMEN.

BUT ACCORDING TO ME IT IS ANOTHER JUST FEEL GOOD MANTRA.

IN MY INDIA;

@RAPE CASES HAVE INCREASED IN MANIFOLDS.

@DOMESTIC VIOLENCE STILL GOES LARGELY UNREPORTED.

@WOMEN CONTINUE TO BE TORTURED ,BURNED FOR DOWRY.

@NO WOMEN FEELS SAFE TO TRAVEL ALONE AT NIGHT.

@IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND ACCOMMODATION IF YOU ARE A SINGLE WOMEN.

MY MAID COMING TO KNOW ABOUT THIS GREAT DAY SAID WHO IS INTERESTED I THINK IT IS ANOTHER GOVERNMENT PROPAGANDA TO GET OUR VOTES

      In some circles, it is unnecessary to declare a day to highlight the ongoing issues that women face. Certainly, nobody I know is unaware of the ongoing issues of rape and abuse women suffer everywhere. However, mantra or not, there are those who are ignorant, who are informed on such days as this, to look at issues to which they perhaps previously turned a blind eye.

      If even one person has their eyes opened as a result of International Women's Day, then that is one more than was aware yesterday. And if it takes declaring today an international event to make that happen then it is a mantra that merits being repeated, certainly more often than once a year.
