SYBRINA FULTON & TRACY MARTIN.
Be extremely cautious, please.
Many people are wondering who seems to be acting as the legal adviser to the Martin family involved in the case of the death of Trayvon Martin.
Trayvon Martin's mother and father, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, have been giving a series of interviews in the media and responding to questions, which tend to interfere with what the special prosecutor, Angela Corey, has been assigned to do.
The special prosecutor was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott of Florida to oversee the case of Trayvon Martin, a young African American, who was gunned down by a gated community watchman in a suburb in Florida; and she has made an arrest of the perpetrator, George Zimmerman, who allegedly caused Martin's death.
That should mean that the case was now in the hands of the officials of the Florida legal and court system, and therefore, people that were so close to it (case) should be cautious of what they volunteered to the media.
In that, there were too many influences at play in the case and outside of it, and any obscure or minuscule statement by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, particularly, could be blown out of all proportion, and that could be used by Zimmerman's defense lawyer(s) against Trayvon Martin.
In view of that the parents of the diseased could talk to reporters, but they must be extremely careful of what they would divulge to them. However, the best course for them as parents would be to remain reticent and allowed the special prosecutor and her team to address any questions appertaining to the case.
That was not what was happening here, with Sybrina of all people saying on national TV that she believed her son's death was "an accident".
How could she know that for a fact; and if she was called as a witness in the case, could she ascertain to such a statement?
Rev. Jesse Jackson and Rev. Al Sharpton, as guardians to the Martin family, should make sure that family members were made aware of their legal rights by providing them with expert legal form of advise from the lawyers representing them.
Without that, they would be making things difficult for Special Prosecutor Angela Corey and her team mates that were working very hard to ensure a good progress of the case in court.
In other words, Sybrina and Tracy have the obligation to help the prosecution by not providing material that the defense could utilize to free its client, Zimmerman, who had committed the crime that they were so emotional about.
Keeping quiet, at the present moment, as well as while the case was proceeding in court and through the Florida State legal system, would be very difficult for them, but it could also be the best thing to do in order not to cause any type of upheaval or interference in the a criminal case concerning the death of their son, Trayvon Martin.
Their efforts, and those of Special Prosecutor Angela Corey, would then be fruitless, if their assailant should get an acquittal even on a legal technicality. That could easily happen; and so they (Sybrina and Tracy) should consider remaining mum as much as they could.
(P.S. Sybrina Fulton has since retracted her "an accident" statement).
