Senator Keith Olbermann?
The Worst Senator in the World?
There is a report today that there is a movement by liberals to draft recently fired news commentator and all around King of Hate, Keith Olbermann . Reportedly, there are now Facebook and Twitter pages dedicated to drafting Olbermann to run for the seat being vacated by retiring Senator Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. The report goes on to state that Olbermann would be eligible to run because he "...use to live in Connecticut and could easily return and establish residency."
It seems what little sanity was left in the old Democratic Party is gone if this movement proves to be successful. There is virtually no one, outside of Hillary Clinton, who would galvanize Republicans more than Keith Olbermann. He has shown to be vile, hateful and vulgar in his ridicule of everyone even slightly right of center. Olbermann has shown he has little, if any, patience for moderates as well. His disdain for Senator Lieberman was made quite clear on various occasions and just last week as well. His vulgar reaction to Senator Brown of MA was despicable. Many wondered back then why MSNBC did not can him for that. He is an extremist, narrow-minded and violently out of control when people disagree with him. In short, he fits in quite well with the new Progressive Democratic Party. I thought the Democratic Party could not outdo itself when the court jester himself, Senator Al Franken of MN was nominated and subsequently elected. Is it possible the Democrats will try to bookend their party with Keith Olbermann in the Senate? I've read where many Republicans are practically praying this will happen. Olbermann has never been one who could control his mouth. He's well known for shooting from the hip and damn the consequences. It would be a nightmare for Democrats in this new era of "civility " that President Obama asked for in his Tuscon speech.
This is just a small movement right now. In fact, Keith Olbermann has not even commented on it as far as I can tell. I would think he would be interested. He has an ego the size of Connecticut. He feels he is superior to approximately six billion other people on the planet. Money should not be a problem if he decides to toss his hat into the ring. George Soros would see to that, I would imagine. I'm not sure who the Republicans would put up against him in the very liberal state of Connecticut. But, no one gave Scott Brown much of a chance either in the bluest of blue states of Massachusetts. One could say Olbermann is a neophyte in the political world and would get devoured on the campaign trail. One thing is for sure, if Keith Olbermann has any skeletons in his closet, they would certainly come out during what would surely be a brutal campaign, both during the primary and Fall campaigns. He would absolutely lose his temper repeatedly. This is why Republicans are almost giddy at the prospect of Olbermann being the Democratic Party nominee for Senator in CT. His always bombastic temper would be his downfall.
***Side Note - I had to do something this week on a hub I have never had to do before. I had to ask someone not to come back to one of my hubs. I have always said that there is nothing wrong with disagreement, as long as you are not disagreeable. By that I mean attack the message all you want. But, attacking the messenger will not be tolerated on my hubs. I have a pretty thick skin. I have been in many flame infested fights on message boards over the years. One thing I learned about that, there cannot be much in the way of dialogue when personal attacks are going back and forth. That was the case of this person on my hub. Now this person went and made a special hub about what a rude and arrogant person I am because I said i would not allow any more personal attacks or off topic discussion. I am probably more particular about staying on topic on my hubs than most people. But, that's just me. I encourage discussion on any hub I write. But, when you make personal attacks, then your argument has lost its validity in my opinion. I will not tolerate it. To quote Forrest Gump, "And that's all I have to say about that."
