There were so many promises that the newly elected president of Philippines mentioned in his first State of the Nation Address. President Rodrigo Roa Duterte was stating again and again on his campaign against criminality, most especially drugs and corruption.

Country's Problem

He also cited the some projects that may solve the problem in the metropolitan traffic and Light Railway Transit for provinces. He declared ceasefire against the five decade enemy of the Philippines Government, the New People’s Army, a communist rebel group.

He instigated a unilateral ceasefire which means to halt any operations of the Philippines Army against the rebel group.

Consequently, he also declared war against corruption that sucked the tax money of the people of the Philippines for many years.

He is mad on the slow process of government agencies and their failures to satisfy the tax payers in their daily businesses.

This time, he is implementing a turnaround time for each document to be processed.

The main course of his speech is the true change for the country.

The country has a great democracy which may or may hamper the iron hand operation of the newly elected president.

Let us see the government offices if they would fully support the new rules set by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Recently, thousands of drug users and drug pushers surrendered which implies signs of good governance of the newly elected president. To add, he installed hotlines for the country the popular 911 hotline to be used nationwide. He had proven this skill of robust campaign against criminality and illegal drugs when he was still a Mayor of Davao City, southern part of Philippines.

Many Filipinos have been welcoming his rules but we must see to it that some authorities should not abuse the power in their operations.
