People often ask me how I can be so positive despite what I’ve been through. The answer is simple: I look at life through rose-colored glasses. I always have and I always will. I see the good in people and even in hurtful or traumatic circumstances. There is always something to be learned from our actions and demeanor. There is always a way up. There is always beauty, joy and awe to be found in life. Life is a precious gift and I embrace it every day.

Looking at life through rose-colored glasses doesn’t mean you don’t see what’s going on in the world, nor does it negate reality; it offers another dimension to reality. It offers hope, love and reminds you of the beauty that abounds despite what Mankind is doing to make the world ugly – and extinct.

Rose-colored glasses allow you to see the glass as half full. They are full of dreams that are achievable if you are willing to see and take the leap. Rose-colored glasses see the homeless as people who have fallen on hard times – not sap-suckers of society. They allow you to view the hungry as your opportunity to offer much-needed nourishment. The lonely become targets of your friendship and spirited soul.

They help you to see solutions to the problems in this world by recognizing all the beauty it contains, compelling you to share what you see and bringing that beauty forth into the eyes of others. Rose-colored glasses filter out the bad and allow the good to come to the forefront where it can shine and prosper. Laugh; smile at a stranger, share your brightness. Be a force of Nature.

Wearing rose-colored glasses means not living in fear. It means shining your light in order to guide the path of others. It means offering help to the downtrodden so they can get back on the road to self-respect and self-worth. It means embracing each new day as the beautiful gift it is. Feel good about yourself and others will follow. See through the clouds and rainbows will form. Become a magnet for the lighter, brighter side of life.

Atrocities have a way of kicking us in the ass and giving us the chance to re-build, re-think and do better in life. You’ve heard the phrase “behind every dark cloud there is a silver lining”. I say, “look through the clouds for rays of sunshine and rosy skies”. Be the silver lining and life will shine.

Rose-colored glasses have the power to make life beautiful again. Won’t you join me? I have enough of a supply to wrap around the world allowing all of us to leave a legacy to newcomers just beginning life on this Earth. Join me and hundreds of others in Humanity One World (H.O.W.). You’ll receive no decoder ring, but you will receive a pair of rose-colored glasses through which the world can see. They are indestructible and last a lifetime.

Life isn’t about things and possessions. It’s about sharing, communication and love. It’s about nurturing and spreading joy. It’s about growing, not destroying. Rose-colored glasses allow you to see life as it should and can be.

Strap on a pair of rose-colored glasses and never take them off. One size fits all and is the perfect accessory to your well-being and that of the world.

Life is good! Spread the word.

Margaret, I love that philosophy. It makes perfect sense. It reminds me of the story "Two Wolves Inside". It goes like this:

An elder Cherokee was teaching his grandchildren about life. He said to them, "A fight is going on inside me... it is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One wolf represents fear, anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

"The other stands for joy, peace, love, hope, sharing, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, friendship, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.

"This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."

They thought about it for a minute and then one child asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Keep those rose-colored glasses on, Margaret. As I say, one size fits all. I'm with you. I'll never take them off!

Shauna, about five years ago, after having suffered two traumatic losses that had "darkened my glasses" for several years, I decided to try living according to a philosophy that had always made sense to me intellectually: "We create what we focus on." Instead of mourning my losses, I chose to start focusing on appreciation and gratitude for the many blessings that I still had, and on discovering the beauty in "ordinary" things and people I encountered. The way I experience life has been transformed by that choice in ways I could never have imagined. I love wearing my rose colored glasses, just as I love the beautiful way in which you described them. May we never take them off!

You're so right, epbooks! Sometimes those gray clouds want to creep in and sometimes they even succeed. Not for long, tho! Rose-colored glasses help to keep a positive perspective.

Epi, I'm sorry you have to sell your house. Maybe you can still find something on the water - I know how much you love it!

As for an idea - I think you found one in your comment to me. How about "the next chapter"?

7 high fives back atcha, my friend!

Dear Shauna - Sometimes I let my depression and anxiety get in the way of life and just want to give up and go to sleep and never wake up again and then such is life - that is the yin and yang THAT WE ALL have to face and deal with on a daily basis.

I love your writing because it is heartfelt and personal and draws your readers in and yes life is good and often because of the people we choose to have around us - I always say - you are only as good as the people around you and that people can make it or break it.

I have a lot of things to feel a blessing for - my relative good health, my creative mind, my two cats and to be able to look at this lake everyday although that is coming to an end as I am running out of time and money and must sell this place by the end of the summer.

I must try to stay positive and think about what the next chapter in my life has to offer to me.

On a positive note , you ask where do my creative ideas come from?

Well I love challenges so if you can -please send me a suggestion/subject that you would like me to write about and I will have it done by this evening or perhaps earlier.

Always so nice to hang out with you and sending 3 high fives to you from two human hands and four furried paws at lake erie time 12:19pm canada with first cup of coffee and a Mozart horn concerto and both cats outside

Sha.....A huge THANK YOU! You have spoken for me....beautifully .....perfectly! My beliefs are so in tune with yours, Sha....and I could not have written them as eloquently as you have just done.

My mother and sister would literally use that quote regarding my "Rose-colored glasses..." Of course I knew they said this out of love, believing they should protect me or keep me on my toes. That's fine....but the reality is, I am who I am and my basic nature directs me, just as yours does, in your own life.

Yes, Sha, you and I and others who share our outlook and attitude, DO actually SEE what happens around us....especially the ugly and the evil, but we seem to be able to use our personal powers, to carry the bad away from the GOOD, so as not to "contaminate."

A little not-so-secret thought of mine, Sha, is that this positive attitude is not amazing "DESPITE" all we have been through....but, surely, BECAUSE of it.

      Bless you...AND your glasses....Absolutely Wonderful HUB!! ..UP++

DJ, I appreciate your words, but I must ask, who is Sheila? You're right. It doesnt' matter that the dog has messed up your bedspread or that your son is using your washer for the second day. You will one day need your son's washer and, if he has learned anything from you, it will be yours as long as you need it.

As far as the bedspread, there's either the laundry mat or spot cleaning it. Hell, take it outside, hose it down and hang it up to dry. There's always a solution. There is nothing we can't overcome.

      Again, who is Sheila?

It does not matter that the dog yacked up on our bedspread, or that

feel grateful for my HP friends.

Maria, you're the first to comment! Yay! I am practicing my voice for the niche I've decided I need to pursue. The lighter/brighter side of life and looking thru rose-colored glasses is who I am. That's what I know best, so I'm working on perfecting my art so I can reach out to newspapers and magazines. Thanx for the votes!

Bill, my 'voice' ties in with H.O.W.'s message; why not combine the two? That's how I can make my mark. At least, that's what I hope for. It's just the beginning. Gotta work on my voice (doe, re, me, fa, so, la, ti, doe) so it's heard!

I'm still slow in the SEO crap and don't really want to look for more, so I'm taking advantage of this time to work on the 'me' I want to sell in the not-to-distant future. I've found my niche. Now I need to feed it before throwing it out to the literary lions!
