Syria May Endanger President Obama's Trip to Israel

Updated on March 14, 2013

The Syrian war continues to spin into odd directions not anticipated. The Golan Heights is where the bitter 1973 war was fought between Syria and Israel. When it was over, the UN occupied this zone between the two countries to be a buffer zone. They have been there ever since, until now. The UN peacekeepers have already left much of the Golan, they were replaced by the Syrian 90th Brigade of the 3rd Division. However, the al-Qaeda group, al-Nusra, which is the spearhead of the Syrian Free Army for now, has replaced the Syrians. The Nusra group have uncovered a secret network of large tunnels running from different points on the Golan up to the Israeli border. They are big enough for the passage of entire Syrian units with their tanks and heavy trucks.

President Obama is scheduled to arrive in Israel March 20-22. Already, everyone is on high alert fearing some terrorist attack on Obama from either Hezbollah in Lebanon or al-Nursa next door.

Obama will land at Ben Gurion Airport flanked by two systems of missile interceptors and the Iron Dome. Jerusalem will also be given protective air cover when he visits there. Authorities fear that the terrorist groups will try their best to launch salvos of rockets onto the airport with or without chemical weapons. Even if one does penetrate, it will be a success for them.

Iran controls Hezbollah and last week sent their jets to intercept an American drone operating international airspace. There is an estimated 10,000 rockets in Lebanon. There is no telling what al-Nusra has in the terms of weapons. Some reports indicate they do have some chemical weapons and air to surface missiles. They are the group that has beaten the Syrian forces in battle and poised to create an Islamic state once Assad falls and the battle turns between the Free Syrian Army and themselves. Iran is now only a year from obtaining a nuclear bomb and is acting bolder and bolder.

If the Obama trip passes as a non-event, so much the better, but, if what is feared occurs, the situation will be interesting.

Well, it will be interesting when he does go there and what will the terrorists do. It is a great opportunity in their eyes to make a statement.

One week ago I read that Israel took it. Let's not forget that the zionists are aiming at the great Israel. It is not Al-Qaeda but forces funded by the US, Europe, Israel and petromonarchies. And for your knowledge (since you are always dragging in matter of information), Lebanon is next.
