TED BUNDY PUT LIPSTICK ON DEAD GIRLS BODIES
AND EYE SHADOW, TOO
HE OFTEN RETURNED, MANY TIMES, TO A GIRL'S BODY HE'D DUMPED IN THE WOODS.
SOMETIMES he'd spend the whole night with the body, lying on the ground with it.
OFTEN he'd put eye shadow and lipstick on the decomposing bodies of the girls he'd murdered. What a perverse mind he had.
IN PRISON INTERVIEWS he admitted to these acts, also admitting that he often had sex with the decomposing bodies, until the smell was too bad.
HE ALSO practiced necrophilia, eating some body parts.
YET the interviewers have reported that Bundy wouldn't tell everything he did with the bodies, saying he didn't want to be known as a pervert.
MAYBE I'm naïve, but I can't imagine anything worse than what Bundy DID admit to.
WHAT can be worse than murder, sex with the bodies, and necrophilia?
PLEASE don't answer that question. I really don't want to know.
BUNDY decapitated at least 12 of his victims, and took some of the skulls home to his apartment, where, he said, he kept them for a long time.
SOME of the skulls the police found in the woods had their front teeth broken out. They have wondered if he did that for a sexual reason.
THOUGH it's always been believed that Bundy quickly killed the girls he kidnapped, there's evidence in one case that he kept the girl alive for at least five days before he murdered her. That leaves the door open for questions about him torturing his victims, too.
A 12 YEAR OLD GIRL was also a victim of his, so he was a pedophile, too. He raped her and murdered her.
TED BUNDY was an absolute monster, though he didn't look like one.
YET, while he was on trial in Florida, obviously guilty, and infamous throughout the whole country, there was a woman who wanted to be his wife.
DURING the trial, Bundy acted as his own attorney, which allowed him to question witnesses.
THERE was an old law still on the books in Florida, one which Bundy found and took advantage of.
HE called his girlfriend to the stand and while questioning her asked her if she wanted to marry him. After she answered yes, he declared that they were married, and it was legal.
THE law also allowed Bundy and his new wife to have conjugal visits.
HIS wife became pregnant by him and gave birth do a daughter for Bundy.
YOU have to wonder about that woman, his wife.
THERE'S no current information about her. Evidently she later changed her name and the little girl's name and disappeared.
TED BUNDY, it has been reported, had a degree in psychology.
THAT'S not terribly surprising. It's not unusual for someone like him to study psychology, in order to use it to manipulate people and help him learn how to choose his victims.
BUNDY was arrested twice as a juvenile, for shoplifting, and that's evidence that he was already acting out.
IN FACT, when he was 14 years old, a little girl who lived near him was murdered. In hindsight, many law enforcement people wonder if Bundy was the murderer. No one knows for sure, and Bundy wouldn't admit to it, but it is possible. What is it they say about coincidence?
IN the murders he is known to have committed, that he admitted to, he first bludgeoned his victims, usually with a tire iron he kept under the seat in his car.
IT IS also known that he sexually assaulted his victims, often with foreign objects, often causing terrible internal injuries.
HE ALSO liked to bite his victims, sometimes leaving their bodies with bitemarks all over them. One body was found with the nipple almost bitten off.
HOW MUCH did those girls have to endure before he killed them?
BUNDY has explained that even as a young child he was fascinated by pictures of sex and violence.
EVIDENTLY his grandfather had some pornography hidden but Bundy found the magazines and spent hours looking at them.
IT DOESN'T seem unusual that a young boy would be curious and even fascinated with pornography, but what put Bundy in a different category is that he said he liked the violence in the pictures.
A NORMAL boy would probably spend some time figuring out what he was looking at, but once he realized the women were being hurt, the boy would be horrified. He wouldn't like it. He'd know it was wrong and bad. He wouldn't go back to the magazines again and again.
BORN in Burlington. Vermont, in 1946, Ted Bundy was as illigitimate child passed off to the townsfolk as the son of his grandparents. Bundy, himself, was told his mother was his sister.
AS A CHILD and even into his high school years, he was known as a shy boy. It seems he probably learned how to socialize from his college studies in psychology.
BUNDY once explained that as a child he didn't understand what made people want to be friends. Doesn't that mean he wasn't actually shy, but he seemed shy because he didn't have an interest in making friends?
HE ALSO said he didn't know what made people attractive to each other.
SO, even though he had a college girlfriend for a couple of years, and a later girlfriend he stayed with for six years, and still later a wife, it seems he had other reasons than attraction for his relationships.
NOR did any of his victims interest him beyond the fact that they were female. That's all that seemed to matter to him. It has been noted that his victims had certain features in common, particularly long dark hair parted down the middle, but Bundy himself said he never set out to kill a certain type of girl. And that's certainly true of his time in Florida, when he was on a killing spree and every girl was unsafe.
BUNDY told an investigator who interviewed him on death row that he did think about his murders, that he didn't block out his past. He said he wouldn't trade the person he was, or what he'd done, or the people he'd known, for anything. "At times it's a rather mellow trip to lay back and remember", he said.
A PICTURE is two-dimensional. Flat. Optical illusions let us imagine distances, textures, curves and hollows, but the photo is flat, a piece of paper.
THAT seems to be how Bundy chose to 'see' his world. He liked it that way. It allowed him to kill randomly with no remorse, because he didn't care about anyone.
TOWARD the end of his life, when asked if he felt any remorse, he replied, "So what's one less? What's one less person on the planet?"
TED BUNDY WAS A MODERN DAY MONSTER, AS EVIL AS ANY MONSTER THOUGHT UP BY A NOVELIST. THERE ARE TWO LESSONS TO LEARN FROM HIM: A MONSTER CAN BE GOOD LOOKING, AND A MONSTER CAN BE HIDING IN THE CAST HE PUT ON HIS LEG IN ORDER TO SEDUCE A TRUSTING GIRL TO HELP HIM. IT'S GOOD HE'S DEAD. AND HE SHOULD ONLY BE REMEMBERED AS AN EVIL SOCIOPATH.
