TGIM!- Thank God Its Monday!
I hope your facebook status update on Friday didn’t begin with TGIF… because I think
that is the greatest reason why people hate Mondays. We are so keen on starting
the weekend because we want to have fun,
travel , watch movies, party, etc. And when the weekend is finally over, we are
so low. We can’t believe we will be facing Monday again! Then we begin the slow
countdown…Mooooooooonday, tuuuuuuuuuesday, weeeeeeeeednesday,
Thuuuuuuuuuursday, and finally, TGIF! The weekend comes, it goes and oh no! its
Monday again! And so the cycle goes on and on and on. But honestly, if I were
you, I would get tired of that and break the cycle.
If you asked me, I love Mondays! That's right. Ronhi loves Mondays. Would you believe that people hate Mondays so much that when boomtown rats released a single song titled “I hate Mondays” it became an instant hit for a record four weeks (by the way, that was in UK ..and am not insinuating anything) Woe to the employers. But Let me give you the reasons why i love Mondays...and i hope to get some converts, can i get an Amen? Ok. you dint say Amen and by not saying it, you have said a lot. You have said that you so hate Mondays and if you were God you would have created three saturdays and seven Sundays. Remember the movie Bruce Almighty? Thank heavens there is a God and you aren't him! So here are my reasons for loving Mondays :-
1. A new beginning
I know there is the religious debate on whether the week begins on Sunday or on Monday and I don’t want to be drawn into that. But for the purpose of this hub, let me say my week begins on Monday. And let me tell you about a beginning- a beginning will have a lot of impact on how the end will be. Think of it as a relay race. If the first person in the race drops the baton, it doesn’t matter how first the second person is. So beginnings are very important and you should always begin your week with a punch. Set a good pace for the week
I rarely check my business email on weekends. So I love Mondays because it gives me the opportunity to find out if I got any inquiries during the weekend. Sometimes, I am lucky to convert the inquiries into sales before noon. Sometimes I don’t get any email but still, I love opening the email with the prospect that I could be getting an important email from a penitential client
Even in history great wars were not won by great armies but by great strategies. Some armies were smaller than their opponents but they had a better strategy and they won the battle. Monday is a day to set a strategy for the week ahead. It’s a day plan and set new goals for the new week ahead. It’s a day to reach out.
4. A new chance
It’s human to make mistakes. That is what separates divinity from humanity. God is perfect, man is not. So sometimes, we make mistakes that have the potential of breaking our business, our relationships or just messing up something else. I look at Mondays as a way to get over last week’s failures and chart out a new course for the glory of life is not in never falling down but in rising up each time we fall
So why do you hate Mondays?
It’s amazing how many people have never tasted alcohol but suffer from hangovers on Mondays. Of course for some it’s really as a result of having too many drinks while for some people, it’s just the lazy mood they were in during the weekend and suddenly, the body is being aroused to get busy again. Your system won’t like the shock. Of course I don’t mean you don’t relax- am only saying you don’t get lazy.
2. The cubicle
you have a job in which you are locked up in a cubicle the entire day punching
in stuff from the keyboard. In other words, you really loathe your job. It’s
okay to hate your job but you choose whether to be miserable or not. I once read
in a book that life is not what you want but its what you have got so stick a
geranium in your hat and enjoy! You might be looking for another job but
chances are, even after you switch jobs, you will still hate the new one
because like John Maxwell says, life is 10% what we make it and 90% how we take
Did he just call me lazy? I won’t even read the remainder of this hub..” Wait, before
you go, you may want to know that its actually scientifically proven. That's right. The new E=MC2 has nothing to do with the speed of light. The new formula is simple L=IHM where L=laziness, I=I, H=hate, M=Mondays. Don't you just love science and scientists? Apparently, sleeping too much on Saturday and
Sunday is your greatest undoing. The much sleep that your body is not
accustomed to during the weekdays disrupts your body clock which gives you a lazy feeling on Monday
morning. And now you are raising eyebrows. Ok doubting Thomas, here is the link to the study.
Now, before i go, did you know what inspired boomtown rats to write their song "I hate Mondays?" Geldof (who was the song write) says he wrote the song after he heard about the infamous Brenda Ann Spencer shooting. Brenda had opened fire at innocent children who were playing in a school playground at Cleveland Elementary School in San Diego, California on 29th January 1979. Two adults were killed and at least eight children and one police officer were injured in the incident. So was she remorseful for her actions? No. And what did she say her reason was?
"I don't like Mondays; this livens up the day."
Food for thought.
