The Transportation Security Adminsitration (TSA), a Personal Experience
A Danger we Cannot Afford
After September 11, 2001 our lives changed forever. Every Time we jump on a flight, we have to put our shoes, belts on a designated plastic container before entering an aircraft. Liquids or any other similar substance are prohibited on a carry-on bag. Gone are the days when you used to take your spring water with you; forget about weapons, unless you don't have money for the rent and want a free ride to a federal detention center where you meets "Mr. soggy sandwich".
THE PURPOSE OF THE TSA
According to the site www.TSA.org , the main purpose of the agency is our own security. We can talk about Air Marshals or prohibited items but I want to go straight to the point in this hub. There are some flaws and is time for me to let our own people know and why not? Maybe Janet Napolitano would take heed from our own advice.
CONCERN NUMBER ONE:
There have been times, when I got to a screening point coming back from another country; that I never was asked to take my shoes off. All they do is check our belongings and the ritual of being touched down, "deep down" to my toes, literally. If we leave the U.S., sure we have to comply with our regulations, but why is not done the other way around? Maybe our own enemies won't have to worry about our classy shoes. Do we need to get a second warning from a woman shoe-bomber, coming from overseas?
CONCERN NUMBER TWO:
Have noticed lots of stress from TSA workers. Do they get nice paychecks? Or perhaps are not treated like a real federal agency? Is their Union taking care of their collective bargain salaries? Are some key workers just there for the money? I know there are cameras all over the Airport, but some TSA workers lack politeness in their behavior. Some even talk to their co-workers about nonsense, when they are suppose to be watching the screener thoroughly. Let's take a look at this video:
We don't train them well or what's wrong with the picture?
CONCERN NUMBER THREE
Are TSA authorities sleeping on their laurels while sleeping cells are brainstorming the next step ahead on their war against us, 'the infidels'? I recognize I forgot an orange Juice in my carry on bag and got put aside for a second screening, my bad, but how can we get improvements to their obligations?
Do they need a hot-line for tips or suspicious activity from any Citizen? We all carry a cellphone, so maybe is time to announce a new 911 for TSA authorities only? How about 912? Please do not come to my home like in this video. I'm just concerned about safety in our own flights.
TSA a Complete Joke, According to ex Employee
"We are just there for a paycheck, 15 bucks an hour to start plus lots of overtime. We don't get fired easily, only if we are caught stealing or patting down your privacy." The ex-screener kept on:
"They do not require a high school diploma to do their jobs. Actually, they are only told not to chew gum on the job. The supervisors barely care, because they were screeners or got their job as a political payback."
We have seen ourselves how this almost school drop-outs work. All are almost like those kids in a street corner, minding their own business and not yours.
CONCLUSION
We all need security on a flight. Airliners depend on us and those 43,000 TSA employees too. We all should make suggestions and...as I said, why not implementing their own '800-tips' around the airport. If we see something...of course we should say something. 400 eyes work better than just 10 TSA eyes. Hope this hub gets to the right authorities...and yes, I scanned myself through a AIT screener coming back home in 2010. The picture is similar to the one below... I showed my naked truth, 'for security purposes only.'
- What Airlines Don't Want You To Know About Their Food
When Airlines were created there was a need to cater passengers fast and with concern. The first meals were just carry on bags to keep the food properly protected against weather and any unwelcome 'bacteria,' but from the 4 passengers added to the fi
