Tea For Me

Updated on August 22, 2015

Greg has many opinions when it comes to politics and education. He has no qualms with voicing his opinion..

My First

Many of you know that I have very strong feelings about our government and how they are stealing and lying to us, the American citizens.

This past week a very good friend of mine emailed me about a Tea Party meet here in Lebanon, Missouri. I attended.

There were probably 70+ people at this meeting. I saw people that I have disagreed with in the past over many issues, but on this issue we are united.

Career politicians are breaking us with Obama being at the top. It isn't about Democrat and Republican anymore-many on both sides are crooks and are spending money like it's water.

I had my chance with the microphone and when I finished with my piece on how Justice has went in the crapper and how they are cutting into my wife's medicaid and medicare by taking her rides away to kidney dialysis and how I will probably have to go on welfare and quit my job so that she can be taken care of, I heard much clapping, hooping and hollering.

You can search my hubs to find many issues I have had with our Government and I do believe that the Tea Party may be a great step in getting our country back.

That good friend of mine sang a song that evening that voices our sentiments. The lyrics are below and the link to Gary's site is below that.

If you feel the way I do; if you are sick of the lies and deceit that our officials are using, I strongly recommend joining your local Tea Party and standing with fellow Patriots who want to take the United States back.

Check all the links and you should be able to find a local Tea Party near you.

What Became of The U.S.A.?

The music to this song was written by a friend and patriot of Gary's who is in Arizona--John Nelson.

Gary Anderson rewrote the words describing what we are facing today.

These are the lyrics:

Verse 1:

Somethin’s wrong when the workin’ man can’t afford to keep his house;

And the leaders up in Washington, won’t admit what it’s all about.

It’s corruption…….take the money and run…take the money and run;

Justice just ignores…..all the damage that they’ve done.

Verse 2:

Can’t afford to get our families around, it’s a shame;

And we can’t even use the oil that’s in our ground today.

Greedy politicians, gone astray….. gone astray;

And I’ve been wonderin’…..what became of the USA?

And it’s a low down dirty shame,

To be doin’ the way ..that .. they .. do…..that they do.

The payoffs and rip-offs, all the people that they use…..and abuse;

The fox is in the henhouse…’s the common folk that will lose

Verse 3:

Now they’re buyin’ up the bankers, and the auto industry;

But a crook can wear a fancy suit, while he’s lyin’ through his teeth.

Fixin’ health-care, that’s a lie…’s a lie;

They got their cake and ate they’re after our piece of the pie.

And it’s a low down dirty shame,

To be do’ the way ..that .. they .. do…..that they do.

The payoffs and rip-offs, all the people that they use…..and abuse;

The fox is in the henhouse…’s the common folk that will lose

Yes I’ve been wonderin,’………….what became of the U.S.A.?

Let's Do It

The time is now! We must get our nation back from these thieves!

The key is unity!

I'm in, are you?

If you are apathetic and think this will all go away, you are living in a dreamworld.

The video below shows that we can unify and take our country back!

      lrcblogger, and this is not running healthcare? They are paying for everything, from our tax dollars, and they are not running it? They control the purse strings.

      As for lowering the costs, I will believe it when I see it. Only way to lower health cost is to either not pay for it, or not allow the patient to have some of the healthcare.

      Part of the reason healthcare cost is higher now is because the government ran Medicare is not paying the bills, so they are passed on to the rest of us. So how is the government going to run healthcare any better than they are running Medicare. It is a shame how they do Medicare, and now they are going to run everyone's healthcare. The government ran healthcare system (Medicare) is the most abusive system out there. They deny more claims and pay less claims than any other insurance company out there, and they get away with it.

      And it appears you like to have other pay for everything. Let's make those who make over $250,000 pay for everything. I pay my own way! I am not a thief that steals from the rich! But I guess it is okay to steal from the rich in today's mindset.

      Everything in the healthcare is wrong! And welcome to Socialism!

      Keep on hubbing!

      EOVERY: Trillion dollars? I think you are referring to the cost of health care reform? Another big misconception. The bill is approx 90 Billion a year. Republicans are saying that it is a trillion dollars because they are talking about the cost over the next 10 years. However, the bill is paid for by a combination of cuts and new efficiencies in medicare administration (not cuts to benefits) and by raising capital gains taxes only on individuals making over $250k. Ordinary income is NOT taxed, only capital gains and only for people making over 250k. Before Bush, the cap gains tax was 20%, he lowered it to 15%, the HC reform will raise it back to 19%. Again, this doesn't affect you unless you make 250k in income (and again, even then, it does not affect your income).

      As you probably heard, the CBO (a non partisan group) has said that the HC reform bill will actually lower the deficit by 1.2 trillion dollars over the next 20 years. (most of that coming in years 10-20) HC reform is a big step in protecting americans and addressing our national debt.

      Froggy, regarding your comment on goverment running healthcare, understand, they are not running anything. Doctors are still private, insurance companies are still private, hospitals are still private, etc. The government put in a series of regulations to end insurance company abuses and to protect people. Further, they are providing coverage and funds to assist people with coverage who are low income, etc. The govt is not running any part of the health care system, I think that is a big misconception a lot of people have. Regarding Tea Party, I understand from learning about the Tea Party that they want smaller Government and less taxes. However, most tea party members support big govt programs like social security, medicare, etc. Further, Federal taxes are the the lowest they have been in many years. This is a combination of Bush tax cuts and Obama stimulus tax credits. Lowering taxes further would almost certainly increase the deficit which tea party members are against. I guess my point is that the Tea party ambitions are not bad ideas, however, they have no clear or rational plan on how to get there. If you want smaller Government, you have to start with the biggest pieces of our Govt which is the military, Social security, and Medicare. All other govt programs and expenditures are very small in comparison. I don't see any Tea party member recommending cuts to these programs.

      Thanks for the thoughtful dialogue,

      Dissension? We all have a little of that in us somewhere along the line don't you think? The main goal is to find what we can agree on that will benefit the "whole" and move forward, I think.

      Each and every group of tea party members has an agenda--the main agenda is smaller government--We will deal with certain issues as they arise.

      So, you believe our government can run healthcare better than private enterprise?

      I hope they do better than their "cash for clunkers" program.

      Our leaders would be better leaders if they had to work a second job to make ends meet like the rest of us.

      Maybe some tea partiers are against drawing social security, that is their choice--we will agree to disagree--I know my wife has to have it and God knows that I have paid a lot of money into it-Just like Democrats and Republicans disagree on some issues but for the most part they agree, tea partiers will not agree on everything.

      It is my opinion that your goal is to cause dissension.

      I watched the video. I actually saw a different video with the same interviewer but in the same type of setting, Tea Party crowd in D.C. You are correct in saying it is hilarious!

      A friend of mine and I went to a town hall meeting in Springfield some time support of health care reform. We saw first hand just this kind of rhetoric everywhere. This was shortly before the title "Tea Party" had been issued, but the same crowd for sure! It was different...and a very memorable experience. We still have fun with it.

      Too many favorites for me.

      Hotjava, this is hilarious. Did any of you actually watch the tea party video that froggy posted? It is by New Left Media, which is 2 young kids that are exposing how ill-informed the tea party is. No offense meant froggy but the purpose of that video is to show that tea party members are mobilized and angry but their anger is mis-directed and they are generally confused. You should be supporting Obama, especially for health care reform given the unfortunate situation your wife is in. My favorite part of the video is all the tea party members saying that Obama appointed Czar's and how terrible Czar's are. Then the reporter explains to them that they are advisors with no executive or administrative power. He then tells them Czar's were first appointed by Ronald Regan, then the number of Czar's were expanded under George Bush...classic.

      Froggy, I wish you the best but you need to be better informed. One of the biggest reasons Obama pushed healthcare is that too many americans end up bankrupt because of healthcare costs. The new plan will protect you from being dropped from coverage, etc. Saying that the tea party movement is not republican or democrat is a bit ridiculous considering people at the rally are holding signs calling Obama hitler.

      Not at all Froggy. I am all for social programs and believe wholeheartedly that in America we should have health care for all our citizens. This is why I supported the Health Care & Education Reconciliation Act of 2010 that was just recently passed into law. (our new health care reform bill). Too many stories like yours where hard working American's, the elderly and others could not afford health care coverage. This crisis became a huge burden on business, as well, leaving our great country at a huge disadvantage to competing global economies.

      My question is directed more toward your affiliation with the Tea Party who is obviously in opposition to the government involvement in our health care system and your willingness to disclose your concerns that the government is not doing nearly enough to provide adequate care for it's citizens. you believe in socialized medicine or not? I do!

      So you are saying that all of the money that we have put into these over all the years, we are not entitled to getting any of it back???

      C'mon hotjava--think about it--my wife deserves and needs the healthcare and your statements don't make a lot of sense.

      I know I have paid thousands upon thousands into SS and medicare/caid--You are saying to just give it to the crooks.

      If you want to give yours away, fine--not me!!

      I am interested to know if you are aware that medicaid and especially medicare are socialized, government funded health care programs? Just seems unusual that a tea party member would complain that the "big oversized government" wasn't doing enough! And welfare? So are you complaining about socialism or are you for it? By the way, just in case there is a disability factor, Social Security is a part of the New Deal and is a socialized policy, as well. So anyone who accepts any benefits from these programs is accepting big government socialized assistance.
