Teaparty Goers or Liberals, Who are the Real Haters?

Updated on April 5, 2010

How I See It

Lately on the news, I have heard news commentators, politicians, and others referring to the Tea Party protesters as racists, hate mongers, low lifes and scum of the earth. This was not their actual words but more, or less their meanings or intent.

I have actively protested in the area I live, central coastal area of California. Several week in a row, we stood out at a local intersection, with our flags, banners, and homemade signs. It was a mixed group of people, Republicans, Democrats, Independent, and some non affiliated people. All our signs were on topic regarding, Health Care, US Debt, Big Government, and constitutionalism. The group was in a good mood, waving at cars passing by and for the most part our waves were returned with waves and honking of car horns.

Being an observant type of individual I began to notice that out of about every 100 or so cars that passed, or about every 15 minuets, we would get the thumbs down gesture, or they would yell out "Get A Job", and then those that would give us the one finger salute and as if we did not understand that. They would yell out an old legal term, fornication under carnal knowledge and individualize it by saying YOU afterwards. I was a little taken back, that people would actually use that language in ear shot of everyone on the street at that time.

So from my prospective, the anger and vitriol, as President Obama says, comes from the left or liberals. I had always thought that Liberals were the ones that believed in protesting and the rights of the people. Well news flash, they are not, they are for their speech, and their rights, but are against the expression of any dissent against their agenda.

I believe in everyone's rights to be peaceful and to demonstrate, and voice their concerns, thoughts and beliefs, even if I disagree with them. We all need to remember that we are all Americans, and open debate is what makes this country great and has set us apart from any other form of government that is or has been upon this planet.
