The Bath Salt Phenomenon

Updated on December 25, 2014

They're not for a nice soothing, relaxing bath anymore. As a matter of fact, there is nothing relaxing about the "new" bath salts at all.

Ever since the United States started fighting the use and manufacture of methamphetamine, people have been looking for other methods to "get high"

The newest drug, bath salts, are a synthetic drug that goes by names like Vanilla Sky, Bliss and Purple Wave. They are made with pyrovalerone derivatives and most are methylenedioxypyrovalerone. Street chemists will keep finding ways to make new drugs and this one is causing chaos in the streets. Some people are saying it has started a zombie apocalypse.

The substance used in the manufacture of this dangerous drug comes from the Khat plant. This plant has been used in the Middle East and Africa for years. People chew the leaves and get mildly high.

This drug has caused some serious concerns as of late. There have been people committing suicide after using bath salts. People are turned into "freaks" because of this "legal" drug.

I titled this part cannibals because of an occurrence in Florida that I am sure you have probably heard about. A naked man was shot to death as he was holding and eating another man's face. It was determined he had been using bath salts. Another man in New Jersey had stabbed himself repeatedly and pulled out his own intestines and threw them at police trying to subdue him. He too, was probably on bath salts. A Maryland man admitted to eating another man's heart and part of his brain. Was it bath salts? Lastly, a New Orleans woman received a mysterious bacteria that almost killed her. She injected bath salts.

Will people eat more people or will bath salts get taken off the shelves?

Are people stupid or what?

My "High: Can Be Your "High"

If you are using bath salts or any other drug for that matter, please consider why? Why destroy yourself, your family and eternity with a momentary high.

I know a "high" that will last forever. Yep, forever!

You want to get "high" with Froggy?

Bow your head and say after me:

Father God,

I'm lost and I need help.

I need Your help.

You sent Your only Son here to Earth just for me.

Jesus, please come into my heart and save me from myself.

Carry me through this life and live inside of me.

I accept Your free gift of Grace and Mercy.

Thank You Jesus,

In Your Name I pray; Amen.

You high? I am.

Jesus came for all of us. If it was only you on this Earth, He would have still done that deed and died for you. The most important part is he rose from the grave defeating death.

Get a Bible and read it, Pray to God for a good church to attend and go.

Stay high with me. It's the best high you will ever have and trust me, it lasts forever!

To Governments Everywhere

Make this Khat plant and bath salts illegal!

Stop the insanity, don't wait, get it done!

Here are two polls that I believe will tell you what the public thinks about the Khat plant and "bath salts".

I wonder what it is in some people's mind needing other things than pure natural breathing and a self destructible life style.

I heard on the news this morning that the police chief of Rolla is working with Mo Attorney General to stop the sale of all snythetic drugs. The chief has been going to stores that sell this stuff and he told them he will be arresting them and closing their business if they keep selling snythetic drugs. I hope something gets done.

Bruce, there is a big difference between religion and living in love. Praying for you dude.

Seriously? Get high forever with God? What a load of rubbish. Religion has killed more people than bath salts, I might add. Not that I'd allow either this drug or the Opiate Of The Masses (God, for you ignorant types) to exist in a perfect world.

I agree it needs to be stopped but seems they stay one step ahead. They outlaw something and something new pops up. It's not only a problem in the US. England has a big problem with it.

I just heard about bath salts and these tragedies. It is totally scary and I hope this problem with "bath salts" gets under control soon. Thanks for choosing to write this!

From what I can tell, it's all the same basic ingredient. It needs to stop.

Greg, the bath salts are illegal in Lebanon. Now people are smoking potpourri. Remember the convenience store across the road from Copeland? It has a new owner and he got rid of all the potpourri and other devices that the previous owner sold. He really cleaned the store up. What I understand is the Ozz on East Elm and Lucky's is still selling potpourri. Now people are using some kind of metal cleaner in reg. cigarettes for a high.
