The FINGERPRINTS of GOD - (Part 2) - Wonders of Nature = Miracles of the Lord
What evidence is there in science and nature that GOD exists?
Amazingly, it is no coincidence that this evidence DOES exist!
It seems the deeper that science digs into understanding nature and the essence of life itself, the more proof they find to support the existence of God and "intelligent design", versus anything they can argue to the contrary.
The Wonders in Nature - GOD has left clues for us all to see!
Since we have recently been on the topic of feasts and festivals, let us now take a deeper look at the foods that we eat. We should consider their unique and astounding relationship with our bodies as evidence of intentional design by the Lord God.
"Your faithfulness continues through all generations; you established the earth, and it endures. Your laws endure to this day, for all things serve you." (Psalm 119:90-91 NIV)
Everyone has heard the expression that relates to a diet of healthy eating: "You are what you eat." Well, there is actually a unique and close relationship between the foods that are "good for you" and your body than what you may have thought. Although many foods may not have a unique or specific health benefit to one organ of the body versus another, as most healthy foods are simply good for the entire body. It is still worth considering the connections we are going to show in relation to nutrition and health, the body, and their function therein.
This is not "new" information and knowledge either, as our ancestors from various ancient cultures have observed through well documented experience how these foods actually work within our bodies. In fact, many traditional medicines from around the world believe and take these ideas into consideration when prescribing herbal diets and natural homeopathic treatments.
Now here is where it gets even better!
The fact is, there are some intrinsic characteristics of fruits and vegetables (and other foods) that resonate with benefits pertaining to various internal organs of the body. Even more amazing are the facts that we are going to display in the similarity between these foods, in the form of their shape, color, and/or composition, with how they relate to the parts of the body that they target nutritionally.
Do you think that these things were done by God intentionally?
Some people may argue that this is no evidence at all, that it is merely by chance that these various comparisons have the similarity that they do.
"Do not deceive yourselves. If any of you think you are wise by the standards of this age, you should become 'fools' so that you may become wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in God’s sight. As it is written: 'He catches the wise in their craftiness.'" (1 Corinthians 3:18 NIV)
I would suggest that this contrary line of thinking is actually more negative and close-minded. These people are either simply not receptive to the possibility that God does things with great purpose or they deny the fact that He even actually exists!
"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him." (Colossians 1:16 NKJ)
Likewise, does it not make sense that an all powerful and omniscient God, would have designed it this way in the first place when he created all these things? He gives us these clues for a reason. We should therefore think positively and look at these things with a godly perspective, to seek out the truth and glean what can be learned from these examples found in nature.
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew 7:6-8; Luke 11:9-10 NIV)
AMAZING FOODS and Nutritional Comparisons with the Body
AVOCADO - EGGPLANT - PEAR - (Female Reproduction)
These target the function of the cervix and uterus of the female and they support reproductive health as well. Their "lightbulb" shape even looks like these organs. Research now shows especially with the avocado, that when a woman eats one per week it balances her hormones, helps to shed unwanted birth weight and can aid in preventing cervical cancers. Even more profounding, is that it takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to a ripened fruit. Elizabeth Somer, registered dietician and author of 'Eat Your Way to Happiness', states that avocados are a good source of folic acid. "Folate has been found to reduce the risk for cervical dysplasia, which is a precancerous condition." There are over 14,000 nutritional photolytic chemicals in these foods and modern science has still only studied and named about 141 of them.
BANANA - (Lips / Smile)
When you look at a banana with the ends pointed up it resembles a smile. This fruit actually contains a protein called tryptophan. When tryptophan gets digested, it is converted into a chemical neurotransmitter called serotonin. This is one of the most important mood-regulating chemicals in the brain and it is associated with good moods. So smile, because by creating higher levels of this strong anti-depressant drug, you can have a happier day.
BROCCOLI - CAULIFLOWER - (Lungs / Breathing - Anti-immflamatory - Detoxification)
These vegetables resemble the alveoli in the lungs, which are little cavities or cells that form a honeycomb of tiny air passageways. They are both good for respiratory function as well as many other health benefits. They belong to a group of vegetables called 'cruciferous', which are those in the same family as cabbage, brussel sprouts and bok choy - whose name means “cross-bearing”, referring to the shape of their leafy petals. The compounds made from the glucosinolates found in these vegetables makes them an excellent natural anti-inflammatory, thus their benefit to the respiratory system for warding off chronic inflammation which is frequently triggered by overexposure to allergy-related substances which are inhaled. Of the group, broccoli and cauliflower seem to contain the highest amounts of these compounds and they also contain omega-3 fats which are essential in balancing our inflammatory system activity. Broccoli also stands out as a concentrated source of the antioxidant nutrient vitamin C as well. Both vegetables can help solve our vitamin D deficiency epidemic, as ample supplies of vitamin K and vitamin A are present, which help keep our vitamin D metabolism in balance. They are also good for lowering cholesterol and can have a positive impact on our body's detoxification system especially when cooked by steaming, which tends to allow for better retention of their nutritional benefits. The unique combination of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and pro-detoxification components in these vegetables makes them a unique food in terms of cancer prevention as well. Using dietary guidelines that call for the consumption of three cups a day, they are useful in keeping carcinogens from damaging the body's DNA and thwarting the development of cancer cells. Otherwise, including any cruciferous vegetables as something you eat on a regular basis is good. At a minimum use them in your diet 2-3 times per week with a serving size of at least 1-1/2 cups.
CARROT - (Eyes / Sight)
When you slice a carrot, the cross-section resembles the human eye. Looking closely and you can see how it mimics the pupil, iris and radiating lines of an eye. This is a clue to the importance that this everyday vegetable has for vision. In fact, the old wives’ tale about eating carrots is actually based in truth, as eating carrots will promote healthy eyes. Science also now supports that carrots greatly enhance the blood flow to and function of the eyes. Carrots are filled with vitamins and antioxidants like beta-carotene, that decrease the chance of macular degeneration, an age-related sight problem and the leading cause of vision loss in older people which affects one in four people. Taking a beta-carotene supplement however doesn't have the same effect, as scientists at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore say, as it is definitely some combination of this chemical along with the other constituents of a carrot that make it uniquely beneficial for your eyes.
CELERY - BOK CHOY - RHUBARB - (Bone Strength)
The long, lean stalks of celery, rhubarb and bok choy, all resemble bones and they are good for them. These foods specifically target the molecular structure of the skeletal system, being a great source of silicon, which is an element that gives bones their strength. Another interesting coincidence (?) is that bones are 23% sodium and these vegetables are 23% sodium as well. If you do not have enough sodium in your diet, your body pulls it from the bones, making them weak. Therefore, these fiberous foods actually help replenish the skeletal needs of the body.
FIG - (Male Reproduction)
Figs hang in a pair when they grow which somewhat resembles the male testicles. Inside the fruit, they are abundantly full of tiny seeds. Eating figs has actually been found to help increase the capability of male sperm in being able to move spontaneously and independently. Research has shown that they also help with the replication of sperm cells and increase in their numbers as well as being helpful in overcoming male sterility.
GINGER - (Stomach / Digestion)
A common home remedy for stomach aches is drinking a glass of ginger ale. This is because ginger actually has very good anti-nausea effects. Therefore, it is very fitting that this herb somewhat resembles the stomach organ. "Gingerol" is the active ingredient that is responsible for ginger's strong scent and taste. Ginger is also listed in the USDA database as having phytochemicals that help to prevent nausea and vomiting as well as having the ability to aid in the body's natural digestive process.
GRAPE - (Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Systems)
Grapes hang in a cluster that bear a resemblance to the shape of the heart and individual grapes look like the structure of a blood cell. Research today shows that grapes are actually a profound heart and blood vitalizing food. A cluster of grapes also looks like the branches of tiny airways in the lungs called alveoli. These structures allow oxygen to pass from the lungs into the blood stream. A diet that is high in fresh fruit rich with antioxidants, such as grapes, has been clinically shown to reduce the risk of lung cancer and emphysema. Grape seeds also contain a chemical known as proanthocyanidin, which is helpful in reducing the severity of asthma triggered by allergies.
GRAPEFRUIT - ORANGE - LEMON - (Citrus Fruits / Mammary Glands)
The similarity between round citrus fruits such as grapefruit and oranges with the female breasts, may be more than just coincidental. A cross section of these fruits actually reveals that they resemble the structure of the mammary glands. Additionally, the nutritional properties of citrus fruits can assist in the health of these glands and with the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts. Grapefruit also contains substances called limonoids, which have been shown to inhibit the development of cancer in breast cells.
KIDNEY BEAN - (Kidneys / Detoxification)
These uniquely colored and shaped beans look exactly like the human kidneys and thus the origin of their name. It is interesting then, that it is not just a sheer coincidence for Kidney beans to actually heal and help maintain kidney functions within the body. Kidney beans are a source of a virtually fat-free high quality protein and they are very good for helping to lower cholesterol. Their high fiber content prevents the body's blood sugar levels from rising too rapidly after a meal, which makes these beans an especially good choice for individuals with diabetes, insulin resistance or hypoglycemia. Kidney beans are also an excellent source of the trace mineral, molybdenum, which is an integral component of the enzyme sulfite oxidase, which is responsible for detoxifying other sulfites. Just one cup of cooked kidney beans supplies 177% of the daily value for molybdenum. Sulfites are a type of preservative commonly added to prepared foods found in salad bars. Persons who are sensitive to sulfites in these foods may experience rapid heartbeat, headache or disorientation if the sulfites are unwittingly consumed.
MUSHROOM – ( Ear / Hearing)
If you slice a cross section from a mushroom, you will notice that somewhat resembles the shape of the human ear. Mushrooms are actually one of the few foods in our diet that contain vitamin D. This particular vitamin is important for maintaining healthy bones and cartilage, including the very tiny ones found in the ear that are responsible for transmitting sounds to the brain. Likewise, by adding mushrooms to your cooking, you could actually help improve your hearing.
OLIVE - (Female Reproduction - Healing - Immune System)
Olives are one of the world's most widely enjoyed foods and have long been known for their nutritional benefit and healing properties. They have often been associated with female reproduction and even resemble the ovaries in a woman's body. Research has proven that olives also provide a wide range of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In traditional herbal medicine practices, preparations from olives and olive leaves have often been used in the treatment of inflammatory problems, including allergy-related conditions, while extracts from whole olives have been shown to function as anti-histamines at a cellular level. Olives also boost your natural immunity and even closely resemble a 'B' cell (shown in the picture) which are the fundamental components of the body's immune system. They have dozens of health-protective nutrients, such as the phytonutrient Hydroxytyrosol, which makes them a natural source for cellular protection and has long been linked to cancer prevention. The high monounsaturated fat content of olives has been associated with reduced risk of cardiovascular disease and can help to decrease blood pressure. In terms of their phytonutrient content, olives are nothing short of astounding as few high-fat foods offer such a diverse range of nutrients, some of which are totally unique to olives themselves. It is now regarded that olives also have the potential to help prevent bone loss and are associated with decreased risk of osteoporosis loss as well. ONION - (Cells / Detoxification and Immune System)
Onions belong in your diet on a regular basis. They resemble the body's cells, especially in their outer layers which are very similar to the cell membrane. Onions contain the phytonutrient, polyphenol, at a very high level. The total polyphenol content of an onion is not only higher than its fellow allium vegetables, garlic and leeks, but is also higher than tomatoes, carrots, and red bell peppers. In fact only six vegetables (artichoke heart, parsley, brussel sprouts, shallot, broccoli, and celery) have a higher polyphenol content than onions. Within the polyphenol category, onions are also surprisingly high in flavonoids such as quercetin. These nutrients have very beneficial antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral properties. In fact, the protection that onions provide in the form of the flavonoid quercetin are much better metabolized than taking the mineral form such as what is found in typical iron supplements. Onions also help to maintain the health of small blood vessels and connective tissue, and these same polyphenols are under study as possible treatments of cancer. Several servings of onion each week have been proven to be sufficient in statistically lowering the risk of some types of cancer. Overall, onions are a very powerful healing, detoxifying and cleansing food that helps to clear waste products from all the body's cells. The aroma of onions also produce tears which help to wash the epithelial layers of the eyes.
RED WINE - (Blood / Cardiovascular System)
Red wine of obviously similar to the color of blood. It is rich in antioxidants and polyphenols, including the powerful resveratrol, a stilbene found in some plants, fruits (mulberry), and seeds (peanut) and especially in the skin of grapes and certain grape-derived products (such as red wine), that has been linked to a reduced risk of coronary artery disease and cancer. Although not to condone drinking alcoholic beverages to the extent of abuse, poor health or alcoholism, it has been proven that in certain cultures (such as in Italy) that ingest red wine regularly with their meals, actually show a physiological predisposition to a much reduced likelihood of cardiovascular related problems. Red wine has also been clinically shown to contain a blood-thinning compound that reduces LDL cholesterol, which is attributed as a cause for heart disease, blood clots, and strokes.
SWEET POTATO - (Pancreas / Endocrine System)
This orange-fleshed type of tuber (root) has an oblong shape that bears a strong resemblance to the pancreas and also promotes the healthy functioning of this organ. Sweet potatoes have the ability to actually improve blood sugar regulation, even in persons with type 2 diabetes. While sweet potatoes also contain a valuable amount of dietary fiber, recent research has shown that extracts from sweet potatoes can significantly increase blood levels of adiponectin. This is a protein produced by our fat cells that serves as an important hormone for persons with poorly-regulated insulin metabolism, insulin insensitivity and can help balance the glycemic index of diabetics. Sweet potatoes may also be one of nature's unsurpassed sources of beta-carotene, which is a potent antioxidant that protects all tissues of the body (including the pancreas) from damage associated with cancer or aging. Several recent studies have shown the superior ability of sweet potatoes to raise our blood levels of vitamin A and other nutrients. Among these are antioxidants, anti-inflammatories, and blood sugar-regulating nutrients. The anthocyanins of the purple-fleshed sweet potato, primarily peonidins and cyanidins, also have important properties when passing through our digestive tract that may be able to help lower the potential health risk posed by heavy metals and oxygen radicals. The best nutritional benefits from sweet potatoes are achieved when steaming or boiling are used as your cooking method. Recent studies show better preservation of the sweet potato anthocyanins with steaming and when comparing boiling to roasting, there are better enhanced blood sugar effects.
TOMATO - BELL PEPPER - (Heart / Cardiovascular System)
The heart is red and has four interior chambers in which the blood of the body is circulated. When you cut a cross section of a Tomato, you can see its fleshy chambers that resemble the structure of a heart, plus to also mention that it is bright red in color. Research shows that tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food. These studies have found that because of a carotene plant chemical called lycopene in tomatoes, it helps prevent coronary heart disease and there is a reduced risk of several cancers for people who eat them regularly. Research also shows that lycopene helps counter the effect of unhealthy LDL cholesterol. When you mix them with a little fat, like olive oil or avocado, it will boost your body's lycopene absorption nearly tenfold.
Bell peppers are also packed with several essential nutrients. They are a good source of vitamin C, thiamine, vitamin B6, beta carotene, and folic acid. Like tomatoes, these peppers also contain a large amount of phytochemicals that have exceptional antioxidant properties. Although chili peppers may contain a higher amount of those substances, bell peppers should still be promoted especially for individuals with elevated cholesterol levels. Red bell peppers, which most closely resemble the heart, even contain more lycopene than the others.
WALNUT - (Brain / Nervous System)
Walnuts actually look like a little brain with a left and right hemisphere, including a resemblance to the upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the gnarled folds of a walnut mimic the appearance of the wrinkles and folds we see on the neo-cortex of the human brain. Science has shown us that walnuts have a very high content of omega-3 fatty acids which help develop over three dozen different neuron-transmitters that are essential for brain functions. Walnuts are the only nuts which contain significant amounts of these fatty acids which are also found to help ward off conditions such as dementia. An American laboratory study has found that walnut extract actually broke down the protein-based plaques that are associated with Alzheimer’s disease and researchers at Tufts University in Boston have found that walnuts even reversed some of the effects of brain deterioration from aging.
Foods That Resemble Body Parts - Intelligent Design?
A stupendous insight from civilizations past has been confirmed by modern investigative, nutritional sciences. They have shown that what was once called "The Doctrine of Signatures" is quite astoundingly correct. This doctrine relates that every whole food has a "signature" that resembles a body organ or physiological function and it is this pattern, that acts as a signal or sign as to the specific benefit that the food provides the eater.

What we are beginning to see as a pattern here, is that many foods in their natural form have a unique connection to the overall nutrition for various parts of the body. If we begin to examine other foods from a similar viewpoint, combined with an investigative and scientific approach, we may become quite astounded with the results that can be found from the clues given to us in nature (and as intentionally designed God).

*For the purpose of this article, the benefits we have listed for some of these foods have been limited to mainly those that correspond with their resemblance to certain parts of the body and their function. Most of these food types have many other nutritional benefits as well and are worth doing further study on to learn all of their beneficial characteristics.

The "LAND of MILK and HONEY"
You may wonder why this reference was made in the Holy Bible?
Although these items do not exhibit the characteristics that we have been showing in the previously listed foods, it should still be noted that they are mentioned frequently in the WORD of GOD (the Holy Scripture) in describing the covenant promise that the Lord God made to His people. Their significance and importance in our nutrition and health parallels the love that the Lord had for His children. That is why "Milk and Honey" are used in the Bible to figuratively represent a valuable and cheerished gift from God (Jeremiah 11:5).
"You must not live according to the customs of the nations I am going to drive out before you. Because they did all these things, I abhorred them. But I said to you, "You will possess their land; I will give it to you as an inheritance, a land flowing with milk and honey." I am the LORD your God, who has set you apart from the nations." (Leviticus 20:23-24 NIV)
The Hebrew people were originally given many "laws" (by God) to be observed, which were based on what was necessary for them to survive in a harsh environment and world of compromise. Many of these practices were predominantly centered around their agricultural seasons and the foods that they produced. Therefore, "Milk and Honey" also relates to the important health benefits that can be attained by having access to such wonderful and beneficial resources.
"You gave them this land you had sworn to give their ancestors, a land flowing with milk and honey." (Jeremiah 32:22 NIV)
MILK and DAIRY Products - (Calcium and Vitamins / Immune System)
There are many benefits that we can get from drinking milk. Consuming one glass of milk everyday is a good habit (with exception for the people who are lactose intolerant to cow milk). Milk contains various concentrations of protein and fat ( depending on the type of milk), and it is an excellent source of calcium which is good for building strong bones. It also has vitamin B2, A, and cow milk has potassium, which has been shown to stabilize the blood vessels and neutralize some metal toxins such as tin and cadmium from other food materials that are absorbed by our body. Tyrosine found inside cow milk, also helps to stimulate good moods. Milk can significantly prevent cholesterol sediment and balance your immune system, while it helps fight bacteria, viruses, and germ infection inside your body. For people who have suffered stroke or paralysis, skim milk has even been found to help them regenerate brain cells. Overall, milk is suitable for repairing broken skin tissue and other body cells.
Last but not least, we cannot neglect the extremely beneficial properties of natural breast milk, for women who feed their children with such. This is a God-given relationship between mother and child that helps to develop special nurturing bonds for woman who physically breast feed. Human breast milk is the healthiest form of milk for babies. Not all the properties of breast milk are understood, but its nutrient content is made from the mother's bloodstream and bodily stores. Therefore many beneficial qualities are passed on to children who ingest this type of milk versus processed formulas. Various antibodies are passed on from the mother to the baby with anti-infective and bacteria inhibiting factors which protect the infant against micro organisms. Studies show that infants who are on a diet of breast milk have a lower risk of infection and the risk of (SIDS) Sudden Infant Death Syndrome is halved. They also have less of a chance in developing diabetes mellitus type 1 than their peers and have a lower risk of extreme obesity and allergic diseases when they mature.
HONEY - (Natural Sugar / Immune System)
Honey is one of the best sources of natural sugar and is highly nutritional too! Bees add enzymes to the nectar that they gather which inverts sucrose into fructose and glucose, then evaporating the water so that the resulting product will resist spoiling. The resulting honey is 80% natural sugar and is actually sweeter than most other processed sugars. It is a source of rich carbohydrates and contains approximately 2% minerals, vitamins, pollen and protein. The vitamins present in honey are B6, thiamin, niacin, riboflavin, pantothenic acid and certain amino acids. The minerals found in honey include calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, manganese, phosphorus, potassium, sodium and zinc. Also with the rise in prevalence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria, honey is increasingly valued for its antibacterial properties.
Bee Pollen is one of the richest and purest natural foods ever discovered, and the incredible nutritional and medicinal value of pollen has been known for centuries. Pollen gathered by bees is also superior to that obtained directly from the flowering plants. This is because bees are extremely discriminate about selecting the best pollen from the millions of grains that are present. They also prefer to select only the entomophile type of pollen grains, which have been employed in the successful treatment of airborn pollen-based allergies. As a result, honey and bee pollen taken from local hives have proven an excellent remedy for people versus allergens native to their area.
Now - If you mix milk and honey together, what a treat you have in store for you as a highly nutritional and sweet beverage!
GOOD HEALTH is GODLY LIVING!
We will not go into ALL the resons why maintaining good nutrition and therefore promoting good health is important, as those reasons should be obvious. Having knowledge is one thing however, but putting it to good use is another process entirely. If we take this information and use it, adapting it into our daily lives and diet, we will probably be quite amazed with the truly miraculous results that it can have on our overall state of well being and good health.
"Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy that person; for God’s temple is sacred, and you together are that temple." (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV)
Likewise, maintaing good health is important to our relationship with God (1 Corinthians 3:9-11).
"Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies." (1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV)
So do your best to honor the Lord God and maintain the "temple" that He has given to you in your miraculously working body (another intricate example of His divine hand in creation).
"Therefore, rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and slander of every kind. Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. As you come to him, the living Stone - rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ." (1 Peter 2:1-5 NIV)
When the Lord returns to reclaim this world, you can therefore present to Him the best example that you can be - in yourself, a most excellent and pure model of the human form.
"Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God - this is your true and proper worship." (Romans 12:1 NIV))
