The Harm Behind Saying "Black Lives Matter"

Updated on September 20, 2015

Yes, I said it. Before you crucify me, listen to the reasoning behind the statement and learn how saying "Black Lives matter" really harms society.

Have you noticed that the media only shows us white on black crime? Have you stopped to think about this, or do you just assume that only white people harm black people? The fact is, we hardly see anything about white on white, black on black, and black on white crime. These crimes exist and happen daily but we turn our backs on these facts and consistently believe that only white people have the ability to harm others. This is insanity! The media wants us to see white on black, especially white cop on black criminal, crimes because like sex; hate sells. They make millions off of these stories and that is all that matters to them. They want us divided because we are weaker this way.

While I understand the anger behind the "Black Lives Matter" movement, I have to point out (as many have) that ALL LIVES matter. All humans, all animals, all lives truly matter. When you say "black lives matter" you are showing your anger and sadness, but you are also excluding yourselves and the rest of society from the fact that all lives matter. If you say that "all lives matter", I am sure that more individuals of various races will rush to your defense. However, when you push the rest of society aside, eventually no one will come to your defense because they will feel jaded.

We need to realize that all crime, all murder, is horrible and we should not stand for any of it. We do not need to seclude or exclude ourselves in a particular movement. We need to stand together in order to defeat the monster that is hatred. Hatred happens to all of us, we are not alone on this battleground called life. I understand that as black people, you may feel anger because of the past but realize that no one on this earth at this moment has ever owned one of your ancestors, and the majority of us do not have ancestors that owned other human beings and we would never want to own human beings. Black people in America, we understand your anger and even hatred but you need to understand that we have done nothing to you. If a black criminal is shot by a cop of any race, it is because he or she did something wrong. Our actions have consequences and in these instances, the criminal has either harmed someone, resisted arrest, fought with a cop, etc. If you act in a harmful manner, you will be punished and it did not have to end in death. All white people do not hate you, especially not for your skin color. Sure there are racist people out there, but you cannot damn all of society for the actions of the few. When hate occurs, it is typically because someone has acted in a harmful manner. This could involve crime, racism, prejudice, sexism, or simply a negative attitude.

Yes, your ancestors had a rough existence but so did Native Americans, Cubans, Hispanics, Irish...all races have had ancestors that have experienced hurdles and hardships. If we stand together, we can make a difference. If you continue to isolate yourselves, you will forever stand alone. While you currently have other races standing with you, they will eventually become resentful of the hatred that you express for other races. We might look different on the outside, but we are all the same and all of our lives matter.

I agree with you 100%. You tell it like it is. Black Lives Matter is a phony, racist hate group, and how anyone can not see that is beyond me. I wish to God they would disappear. I'm so sick and tired of this "woe is me..I'm black and suppressed crap." It really pisses me off.

Thank you (pstraubie48) for your comment. I hope you have a blessed day. Mark 3:25, "And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand (KJV)." We need to stand together, all of us, in order to make a positive difference. I really wish more people felt this way.
