Google censors with the dollar as does Amazon and Yahoo

There is a great new trend. Full censorship by way of economics. Censors are everywhere. PC Police are ruling what we see and hear. Censorship by consensus is evil and wrong. Perfect for communist China and old USSR but a disaster for a democracy. Consensus censors are in all social media and in all publishing and editing. Yes even here at HP where I write.

But here is the really good news. Doom always follows censorship. Death always lays wait. No not for the censored but for the censors.

Let me tell you a blast of a time I had in the late 80's -90's of the last century. We were freedom fighters for a guy named Reagan. I know that sounds goofy and it kind of was. We were supposedly some kind of true "illuminate" of our time. We were trial lawyers who were socially whacko and politically and fiscally conservative except when it came to military. I would say we were a very strange group. But we all had offices with staff, and back then we had great legal secretaries that were better than their bosses at writing. And usually much more conservative.

So we sent at least 10 faxes a day to operatives in the old Soviet Union and especially Eastern Germany. Many of us did this. The information flow was so great it fueled the downfall. It was the restriction on knowledge and news and education that kept those people down for so long. Remember the "cell phone" rebellion? It was the precursor to that.

I hope you can see where I am headed here. But help me keep this light and on the edge please. Let us go forth.

Do you hold your tongue or pen to be PC correct or to make money?

You know that you do. You know that you should not. I am not talking about a license to bully. I am not talking about foul language where it does not belong and I am not talking about endangering the quality of life for the "yutes". (I love that for youths out of some Joe Peschi film)

We are speaking here of changing words or conforming to styles and rules in order to be more accepted. We truly are talking about the extension of two phenomenons we know all to well. See if these do not strike a remembrance chord with you.

She is a little girl about 10 years old. She speaks perfect English and she dresses just right for school. She is the elder of two much loved siblings in a home where dad is a professor and mother is a part time nurse and stay at home mom. The little girl is brilliant and quite the little progressive thinker. But her friends convince her to act "more normal". So she "bites her tongue" more often and speaks Valley girl.

The little 8 year old brother is pure genius and would like to carry a calculator and note pad in his pocket along with a pocket protector and color pens. But he does not because it will get ripped out and trashed by "friends" and the boy learns to only talk to the teachers outside of class.

We hope that you as a writer do not suffer still from such maladies of self esteem and public pressure.

Did you grow out of the shame of being unique?

Or have you blossomed to become the you in you?

See results

You are a hero. We do need you to speak your mind. BE YOU!

Now about the fat guy - one is me.

I am not skinny. But I am very healthy. I need to lose 20-30 of my 225 lbs. And I need to exercise much more. Healthy cannot be stressed enough.

Although I do find these fitness freaks a bit strange and really rather self absorbed. And I agree that obesity is a major issue. This is true. If instead of Obamacare, all Americans just exercised more and lost excess weight we would be so much more healthy that we could "lower our costs and keep our doctors". Now there is a point here.

This lady and the one referenced therein are being censored for promoting good health because it insults fat people. They are not attacking people but a disease that costs us much money and lives. But they are censored by media (both kinds) because their position makes fat people look bad. Wow!!! I tell you true read here:

This is not for me. But they make valid points.

Please do not let society censor this boy's thoughts

On direct blocking of words.

This article is true. And for all you prim and proper people I think you should have this app available. I think that you can block me out if you want to when I say "hell". Or when I attack a business for being toadies and stifling creativity in a claim for popularity, just like the other kids did to my you children above. But do not take my word for this happening. Go here are read this amusing article.

Consensus Censorship

So google ad boys and girls, HP editors, Facebook publishers all get together and decide what we cannot say. And writers throughout the world boy and conform so that their work gets "pushed" and not shunned. In the sense of free enterprise that is awesome. But here is the problem:

"Social and mass media are now too far weighted toward profit rather than truth".

Just take our example of fat. Fat is bad. Moderate amounts of fat are innocuous. However fat is most often not good to have in excess. That is just a fact. Fat is a health problem. That is just a fact. Therefor fat is costing us lives and money and that is a fact.

Now if a little health guru mommy wants to show off lack of fat and challenge others to get healthy and not be fat. That is awesome. But oh no it is not. That is like our two bright children being told to act more stupid so they fit in. People who want to be fat and our dumb are now able to censor people by consensus. Not by right at not by truth just by the fact they do not like someone else trying to be better and asking others to join in.

Let us end with France and Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stone.

Bob Dylan is being charged in France for making a statement about Serbians and Croatians knowing each other by fact. There was a whole lot of death going on between these two since WWI right up to little more than a decade ago.

But someone says that reminding us of this fact should be censored because it causes people to dislike other people. Well now Rolling Stone magazine should stop publishing comments made because it offends a group that descends from a group of folks involved with mass killing? And in this case they do not only descend from they were part of.

Well you decide what you want to say and write. It is a free internet or maybe not.

I am a writer .. therefore I express my inner thoughts .. and if they fall upon deaf ears.. so be it ..

but if they offend you .. do not try to cut out my tongue.. but just turn down your hearing aid..

or just change the channel ..

that is the right we have ... freedom of choice .. not freedom to change some one else's lifestyle to fit your own perceptions..

All valid points, Eric. I choose my battles. If it's important to me then I'm in all the way. I have lost internet friends because of censorship and it has really pissed me off.....free society? Sometimes. :)
