The theft of our rights

Updated on March 1, 2014

we will not compromise, because their is no compromise

Leaders robbing its citizens

My Rant (unedited)

Imagine a world that is free, a world that has nations where people can live as they choose. Nations that have leaders who trust those they work for.
In a town there is a family that is getting ready to pack their firearms into their SUV and head into the bush where they can freely set up targets and shoot the guns that they legally acquired.
Can you see it? Well let me tell you, I used to be able to see that, I was actually living it up until two days ago. Now that vision is quickly fading. By the stroke of a pen by the RCMP commissioner, firearms are quickly becoming prohibited…one at a time.

We condemed tyrants and tyrannical regimes in countries, continents far away from our own. Now however, we seem to have the same type of power hungry tyrannical dictators who without moral or ethics are robbing us of our rights.
There are hundreds of thousands of responsible and law abiding firearms owners in this country, but the RCMP commissioner is making perfectly lawful and safe firearms prohibited, he is looking at all of us as if we are criminals and do not have the capacity to own such firearms…even though they were shipped into Canada by legitimate companies, sold to the licensed firearms owner for decades, but overnight these people, the ones who spent their hard earned money on these guns are now considered criminals, because they posses these rifles.
This not only shows the incompetence of this commissioner but also his lack of will to follow the law and treat us ethically.
I own firearms, I have a licence to purchase and posses non restricted and restricted firearms. However, if I were to own a rifle that this man made prohibited by the stroke of a pen I would become a criminal merely by his idiotic and unethical action.
We are supposed to live in a free and democratic society. No person should have the right to steal from the citizens of this nation, no matter if he is an RCMP officer or a politician.
To change the classification of a firearm by anyone is behaviour like that of a ruthless dictator and tyrant.
When I buy a gun from a legitimate dealer, I am buying a legal gun. How dare anyone decide it is no longer legal. I am not a criminal, I have never broken the law and my guns have never walked out of my safe and harmed anyone. Nothing has changed from when I bought them to now…Nothing!
We the firearms owning citizens of Canada, along with our brothers and sisters of the USA are law abiding citizens. We will ban together to stop this tyranny. We live in nations founded by freedom loving people, people who fought, bled and even died to uphold this freedom. We will not allow anyone to rob us of this freedom, if we did, we would be disgracing and disrespecting the memories of our forefathers.

One last thing: there has been talk of 'grandfathering ' in the firearms with the current owners or giving 'financial restitution' to those who turn them in. I do not want either, I bought the legal firearm and did it legally. I have the right therefore to keep it and take it out and use it in a safe and legal manner. Nothing less and nothing more. I do not appreciate the RCMP's attempt to bribe me or attempt to make me feel good about getting robbed by them.

so some people state that taking guns from victims will somehow protect them it is true that a lot of people have been killed by private guns, ok lets say that we ban all guns it will not stop mass murders that fact is proven in china all the time where there are mass stabbings the fatality rate in mass stabbing is comparable to mass shootings and we are taking about 20 30 people killed, the fact is there will always be murders and mass murders ok taking guns from victims does not protect them it only make people more vulnerable.

Those who have firearms know that the gun in itself is safe and will not commit crimes on its own. I certainly wish that we could conceal carry in Canada. The truth is that people who are armed can and will prevent or stop crimes. We know that the police (as good as most are) get to the scene of a crime after the fact. Thank you all for your comments.

Operating an automobile is not a CONSTITUTIONALLY protected RIGHT! Owning a firearm is. The Federal government does not compel the states to license drivers in a specific way. Each state runs its own affairs, theoretically, at least for now.

thomasczech - the US is made up of 50 sovereign state governments and each runs its firearms licensing and records as it chooses - in accordance with the Constitution. In my home state of Indiana one can procure a life concealed carry license and firearms are not registered. Indiana is hardly the murder capital of the country. Concealed carry permit holders are the least likely to commit any crime.

I don't know about the USA, but in Canada we must apply for a firearms permit called "Possession acquisition license (PAL) . we can have this license for either non restricted or restricted firearms or for both as I have.

First we apply, during this process a background check is done for criminal and mental health check where there are also friends and family asked about the applicant as well as through RCMP records. Then after we are cleared it usually takes a couple of months before the license is received. only then can we purchase firearms. However, before all of this, we must take a government recognized firearms training course. So it is quite strict here. Granted though, we can have a large variety of firearms except for fully automatic, and we are restricted to 5 rounds per magazine for centre fire rifles, we can have more rounds in rim fire. But now, the RCMP, for no reason is on a bandwagon to make certain guns illegal, which have been legal for over decades. And these firearms have never been used in crimes...ever.

      Well.where are all these things?

Where are the mandatory classes, registration, and btw: insurance, just like I must have to drive a car!

Why haven't they been implemented asap?

Could it be the politics of the NRA and gun manufacturers?

BTW, cars must also be equipped with safety measures, and themselves be inspected every year....

And I'm quite sure they are not involved in as many deaths as guns.

Let's get serious about the real public danger WE must endure for YOUR supposed right.

and for that righty-mind; come back to me when your body is owned and operated by the state.

All to typical of the lefty mind, you must lose your freedom so that those who ignore all moral convention and all law maybe, possibly, perhaps, might not be so dangerous, "Papiere Bitte!"

What is needed is far less tolerance of criminal conduct of all kinds. We are too gentle, patient and forgiving of those who refuse to live as part of a civil social order based in law and morality.

-thomasczech - thanks for rewarding my faith in Canadians, America is lucky to have such an awesome neighbor.

There is a push for banning guns. There are two types of guns that are being banned this week here in Canada. There are also guns being banned in the USA. Who is doing this you ask? Here it is the RCMP and in the US it is politicians. It is not a full out ban rather a gun here, another there.

As for education, yes education is needed. But banning guns will not stop crime. In China people went on rampages with knives, in Austrailia they used bats, knives etc.

I am in full support of doing background checks, taking classes and having a license to purchase and posses firearms and making it mandatory for safe storage of firearms in the owners home...but I will not stand for having my guns stolen from me by police or politicians. If they ban guns now, what rights will they steal from me next. One of the biggest problems is that people out there are fear mongering about guns, demonizing them. My guns have never killed anyone since I have owned them, they have trigger locks and are stored in my gun safes which are bolted to my basement walls. I should not be treated like a criminal because I have firearms.

Well, you know, how about this: educate people to stop killing in anger. Educate people to keep guns away from kids. Educate people that gun does not equal power to terrorize. Terrorize is what I see when you mention guns. Abortion clinic murders, people taken hostage, robbery, cops killing people, black kids being gunned WHO doesn't know that this is wrong?

And, just who is banning what?

You still have guns, don't you.

Americans still have fact, one of them is recruiting people to shoot democrats with him.

Sorry--we all know people are idiots. Guns are too powerful to allow idiots free range.

Law abiding gun owners need to have some freedoms curbed so the idiots are curbed as well.

      Just how it is.

people are killed by cars, knives etc. banning anything is never the answer, education is. legal and law abiding gun owners never harm anyone except in self defense. criminals harm people and use anything they can.

You might think guns are a right, I think they are an abomination.

More people have died by private guns than all wars combined.

You dont have right to any gun you want......they are weapons of death. Someone must be responsible for safety of all of us, since you gun owners have failed to do so.

This time of government is appalling. They are purposefully dividing us. They are persecuting gun ownership and that worries the hell out of me.
