Think Brits Enjoy Good Health Care...Think Again!

Across the Pond

Good Morning Breakfastpoppers. Today is Monday, January 27, 2014. Our friend, Harlotte, is with us this morning. She just returned from London and was privy to the way seniors with medical issues are dealt with under socialized medicine. She is most distressed and would like to tell us her findings.

After age 65 the medical profession, or should I say the government that runs it, look rather unfavorably upon treating this age group for serious diseases like cancer. Survival rates for patients over age 75 are much worse in Britain than in Europe for 9 out of 10 common cancers. Essentially, the Brits are writing off this segment of the population because of their age. It's called rationing and I have no doubt that it will becoming to my fine friends in the USA.

Just look at one of the many problems associated with Obamacare. Young people aren't signing up for the program. They are turned off because it is expensive. In order for Obama's program to work, these young people must sign up to pay for older Americans who are getting sick. The solution would be to cut off treatment for these sicker older Americans. If you don't think this will happen, I suggest you think again.

You Are Expendable!

I think it is fair to say that government care always ends costing more. Higher costs lead bureaucrats to the conclusion that trying to keep older Americans alive using expensive procedures is just not cost effective. Say good-bye to Grandma. Remember all that talk about death panels. Well, they are real. It is happening to the Brits and it will be happening here. Any thinking, compassionate person would agree that assessments of older people should be solely based upon their needs. When age and money take the place of good medicine, people die.

Single Payer is on the Way!

Obamacare has been a disaster thus far. The moment the website went live chaos ensued. Millions of perfectly good insurance policies were cancelled because they didn't meet the government's requirements. Citizens were suffering from sticker shock when they received their new premiums or their new policies. All of these problems are just a prelude to a solution that President Obama and his Democrat supporters have always coveted. They want socialized medicine. They try never to use that exact language but that is what they want. When Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi mention the "public option" or the "single payer" system they are speaking code for socialized medicine. All this confusion and pain we are now experiencing is just the first act in a play that closes with Americans under the thumb of socialized medicine. President Obama lied to you when he promised that under his plan you could keep your current policy if you wanted to. He and his people knew the truth all along. It's all part of the great master plan to transform our health care into socialized medicine just like our friends across the pond. We all know how that's working out for them.

Take note my friends:

      Dear Pamela,

I think we are going to find that your Mother's poor treatment will become commonplace. Medicare won't be reimbursing doctors enough money to keep them interested. They will probably hold down the number of older patients they will see to a precious few, if any at all. As for the quality of medicine, well let's face it, medicine won't be a profession that attracts the talented. See you at the Inn. I'm buying.

Harlotte is right on the money. We are swiftly moving toward the poor standard of medicine in England. Obamacare is a diaster that promises to get worse and he lies everytime he opens his mouth. His State of the Union address was a joke. Pathetic even.

I think some of the doctors here already have the idea that if you are old, you can be treated differently. My mother suddenly had pain in her left eye and she was losing her vision. I got her to the doctor and we started eye drops that are helping, but his explanation was, "These things just happen sometimes." HUH??? Why?

      Dear teaches,

We actually, had a pretty good model to follow. Of course, now we have a disaster unfolding. See you at the Inn where life is still sane.

There are issues with healthcare in other countries, such as waiting times to see a doctor, improper billing, etc. Not really any good models to follow when a country is trying to establish a new healthcare system.

      Dear Frog Prince,

As time goes on, the stark reality of this mess we are in will hit home. I don't think most people give a damn about anything until it affects them personally. See you at he Inn.

      Dear Tom,

You bet they came here. That will change with this continuing disaster we call Obamacare. I guess once the damage to to our health care system is complete, world leaders will have to remain at home and die. See you at the Inn.

Obama has already said that he would just give an elderly person a pain pill rather than waste good health care money on someone who's old and non-productive.

Does anyone doubt the role of Death Paneels in Obamacare? If you do don't because Harlotte just laid out your future for you.

      Pop and Harlotte,

I agree with your observations. Think of past days and whenever a rich person or world leader got very sick they didn't go to a single payer country for there best chance at life, they came here. Where will they and we go now.

      Dear billybuc,

I learned long ago that the Scandinavian countries also have high suicide rates! I wonder if there is a correlation. Canada's system stinks . It's no fun waiting 2 years for an MRI! See you at the Inn. No waiting period for good wine!

If I remember correctly, the Scandinavian countries have good health systems....after that it gets a bit shaky in other countries and downright abhorrent in others......sigh!

      Good Morning Will,

Absolutely, when you control health care you control the people and that was Obama's plan all along. He found great supporters in Reid and Pelosi. Sadly, I still don't feel that enough of the American people are aware of what is really happening. Medicaid recipients are the most content with Obamacare. Why am I not surprised? See you at the Inn, the last bastion of free speech and independence left on earth.

      Good Morning carol,

The system could have remained intact. It needed tweaking to be sure, but throwing out the baby with the bath water was irresponsible. See you at the Inn.

      Think about it.

When government, via socialized medical treatment, controls who lives and who dies, they also control We, the people.

Think about it: when over 80% of the people were satisfied with their medical plans, where was the 'crisis' that enabled Democrats to force this on us? We now know that many of those without insurance were young, healthy people who chose to go without. Many of the remaining were illegal aliens who should not have been here in the first place!

It was never about insuring Americans, It was always about a tyrannical government creating vast new powers for itself.

it doesn't matter that this is a disaster the diehards keep their pace with what is going on..People get focused on one issue.. THE only good thing is pre-existing conditions are accepted..but for how much. I will need to get my crystal ball out and find out what is going to happen..As always well written and well done my friend.

      Good Morning Pino,

There is so much confusion going on now that only people who have insurance still in place can comfortably see their doctor. Of course, if the insurance company dropped the doctor than they can't. We don't even know how many people actually paid for their new coverage. The only certainty is that Medicaid is booming! See you at the Inn.

      Good Morning Mike,

Absolutely, you were and are so right. It is completely clear to me that this mess will guarantee a single payer system. We then can say good-bye to the free market system and quality care forever. This was the change Obama was talking about all along. See you at the Inn. It may be time to think about Costa Rica.

Harlotte, you are right again. But, the fools have rushed in and we don't have a chance. We just have to make sure we don't get too sick. Harlotte, spin a web at the inn, and I'll see you there later.

POP: It is a shame that after a certain age the government believes that a person does not contribute to society anymore. So Sad! I see the Affordable Care Act as a real life "Soylent Green" movie. One more thing: everyone is speaking about the website, losing your doctor and insurance plans, but what about the actual care being given? It has been almost a month, and no one is speaking about any limitatons with seeing their doctor. Can it be that everyone seeing a doctor is pleased? No one has been told they cannot have a certain test? I certainly doubt it! We can blame our journalists for this, because they have become numb, and cannot think outside of the box. Today we cannot find a anyone with a curious mind in the media? Again, so sad. I'm off to the bar. Harlotte is saving a bar stool for me......

Harlotte - Your observations are right on the mark.

You and I must think very much alike. I have said from the beginning that Obamacare is just a stepping stone devised to speed us to the single payer system that was the original intent of the change. The cost for taxpayers to support Obamacare will become impossible. At that time, our President will save the day by introducing the single payer system (Socialized Medicine), the insurance providers will go away, and the progressives will live happily ever after.

Even our own government could not make as many mistakes by accident as we have seen with Obamacare. These were planned mistakes to accelerate our trip to Socialized Medicine. Many in government have gotten extremely wealthy through back-door deals and kick-back opportunities through Obamacare. The no-bid contracts used by this administration are ripe for corruption and kick-backs.

Nobody has been held accountable for the Obamacare failures because it was designed to fail.
