This is fairly cut and dried too by Merwin
They felt confident in taking from us, the thing we did not seem to care about.
Every election that I ever (sort of) paid attention to from since I was a kid, had one thing in common, each of them had meager turn-outs. I remember some of those times (not many) when the talking heads would report a "huge turn-out of 60% of registered voters being at the polls!".
Think about it, an election day having 60% of "registered voters" was considered huge? And then we need to stop and take stock of the facts that...
1) This was rare and considered remarkable by the talking heads.
2) This was only those that had registered to vote, with most "eligible" citizens not even registering... WHY?
APATHY... maybe, trust of our fellow citizenry who is keeping abreast of the issues is also possible.
Whatever the reason is... it is being translated into "We don't care what you do to 'We the People'", by the Corporate & Centralized Banking, power brokers. And then, that trickles down to the people that get elected, by "the few that do care".
And so... who are those that care? It could be you and me. It could be those that have an agenda that you and I do not like, such as, those that would just as soon do away with our Constitution.
So when our Constitution no longer resembles (even a little) a document that defines and safeguards Our Liberty... (sooner than you think) who you gonna call?
I am firm about the definitions of freedom.
I have heard many times, "If you don't vote, you don't have a right to complain." That is just plain stupid... I'm sorry, but it is..! Because freedom, defined by our Constitution declares our right to be stupid and to say dumb things like that, as well as, our right to complain even if we did not vote.
What may have been more accurate was/is, "If you do not vote, you may soon lose your rights, and among them your right to complain."
What is "cut and dried" is, if we do not get up off our lazy obese backsides and demand respect, restoration and maintenance of our precious Constitution we will soon be blatant slaves of Corporate interests, much worse than we are now.
