Tidbits of politics and things forgotten:

Updated on April 11, 2013

In the beginning, there was America, The Founding Fathers and the Bill of Rights:

Freedom of Speech: The freedom that we enjoy here, in America, was set by The Founding Fathers of this country. This freedom gives us the opportunity to voice our opinions as long as there is no harm caused to others. And this freedom is what has given this power to the people to choose what we want, Freedom of Choice.
Yes, as Americans, we have the freedom to select who goes to The white house, who represents us in the senate, who represents our states; so we are the ones who are molding the political arena of this country; or are we? Is there a game that is being played in Washington that we, as common folks, are unaware of, a game of manipulation? Food for thought......

A brief overview of what has been happening in the Political Arena of our country for the pass few election years. Every four years we have a handful of candidates who are bold enough to stand up and put on a 'great' show for the public! Promising everything under the sun..... It's not 'Uncle Sam Needs You!' any more, it is "You Need Uncle Sam"! ..... Political Campaign has become an exhibition of, 'tell us what you, the people of America, want and we will promise you exactly that.'! A show that even Hollywood has to bow down to. A true Reality Show! Real people, real hope, real games..... And what happens later, when they reach the Office is another story!

Resulting In:

America has been trained to look for the ones who can show the people the best parade, with colorful banners, and flags, and the most money that could be pulled in!The one who can give the most eloquent speech is the winner! Whatever happened to the genuine concerns for the country, whatever happened to those who are there to take this country higher for the people of this country!

Point forgotten: (A Reminder)

So, how many of us are aware of what were the values of our founding fathers? America in 1776 was a very different America..... An America that was not a consumer society, nor was it in constant need of being entertained, but it was an America that was concerned and fearful of losing itself to the forces from across the sea. The People of America were ready to fight for their rights or die for it, which they did. They fought for the freedom, a freedom that would be enjoyed for generation to come.
How many of us know what took place during these crucial moments? How many of us will ever know what they went through. The vulnerability, the anxiety, apprehension, fear; the unity, the brotherhood, and the desire for freedom. Surely, they did not fight for the power, nor to get to the White house, or to become a world leader!

America was build by the people, it's for the people and it symbolizes the utmost enactment of Freedom!

Will the politicians of today, ever, be able to bring that back?!

Interesting Hub. Reminds me of the quote by thye late Gore Vidal I think that the USA is a One-Party State and Americans only have the choice to vote for either wing of the Business Party.

BRAVO, WB!! Well said! Soooo sorry for the late reply! Not sure what happened here.....

I don't think we, as in 'American Public', are ready for a reminder yet. Like you said, America has been dumbed down! And I totally believe the point Lincoln made, that's exactly where we are..... A House Divided!

Thanks for the thought provoking comments, really appreciate it. Take care..... Will see you around :)5

The key statement in the Constitution is that "Congress shall make no laws" with regard to religion, free press, and free expression. The Founding Fathers saw the government as a threat to the citizens if it gained enough power as such. That is exactly what has happened as of the present. The federal government has grown by almost 20% in size under Obama in his first term and will likely grow as much again in his second. The Attorney General is poised to challenge the Second Amendment on gun ownership stating that he does not believe the amendment grants the right....a right which has stood for over 200 years....what a pompous, elitist scumbag! Once one right is challenged and falls so goes the others one by one. You hit on a strong point stating that far too many Americans expect to be entertained. While being entertained they fail to notice their country has been taken over by socialist. They have no fears because no one has taught them in the education process to fear such. They actually believe they will get to keep what they have now and things will only improve....a move toward the Utopian State as is always promised but never delivered by those with the Marxist message. While being educated, America has quietly been dumbed down and now focused on electronic gadgets, pierced body parts, and body art as their expressions of individual freedom. By the time they awake, things will be too far gone to salvage and they will be left wondering why they have to wear the Chairman Mao uniforms and wash the People's Truck. Thanks for the reminder but I fear that our tie with our past history appears only a waste of time to current generations. They associate the history of America with rich old white men and find much more solace in a focus made up of class envy and class warfare. Never has one President (Obama) done more purposely to divide a nation of people against itself. Abraham Lincoln said it best in pointing out that "a house divided cannot stand." ~WB

"Will the politicians of today, ever, be able to bring that back?!" Good question LaThing, and an awesome article! To answer your question: In my opinion they might be able to, but they won't because they lack the will to do so! Very good article!

Thanks, Dave for you insightful input. You are absolutely right, there might be some honest politician there, but it's all commercialized! It needs an honest man with guts to standup to the masses of ..... Materialistic (?) Politicians!

Appreciate your valuable comment. Take care.

The problem is not so much a lack of honesty, though I will agree that most are dishonest to some extent. The problem is that altogether too many of them a professionals, they view Congress, State legislatures as a job as opposed to a calling. That changes the way they look at things and the way they legislate. We need to get back to a citizen legislature, something that has not been the case for many many decades.

Hi Maria, ..... And we are in desperate need of that one perfectly honest politician! I had more to write but didn't want to make it too long. Kept them short and to the point, just to remind everyone where we stand in this day and age.

Appreciate all your support..... Hugs back at ya!

I am still praying for one perfectly honest politician.

Kinda off beat but I just watched The Campaign with Will Farrell and Zach G. Such a good message in a ridiculously funny manner...

Thank you. At the risk of being redundant, you have given us a lot to swallow in this food for thought. Voted UP and AI. Hugs, Maria

I think, that hope that you and all of us have, keeps us united during these hard times. I am optimist about this too, but, from time to time, we need a reminder! Thanks, Billy, for your thought provoking comment, really appreciate your stopping in. Take care.....

Lizzie, the cynic in me says no, the politicians will never bring it back. The hopeful optimist keeps thinking that a leader will arise who actually can make something happen. I'm still waiting.

Wonderful food for thought my friend.
