Trump Is Opposed to Due Process of Law
The term 'due process' means your basic right to have a trial, and to have your case handled with a valid legal process if you are accused of a crime. The fact that due process of law is used in our courts is the only reason that anyone in the USA can get a fair trial. President Trump has shown that he wants to abandon due process of law. There was an incident recently in Florida, where a young man entered a school, and started shooting. Several students were killed by gunfire, in this incident. Trump could have kept his mouth shut about it, but he decided to interject his own loud-mouthed opinion, and he commented on the Florida shooting. He said that we should not wait for a person to start shooting, we should take his gun away from him, before he starts shooting, and we should do it without due process of law.
Trump made this statement on February 28, 2018. To quote Trump directly, he said, "I like taking the guns early...Take the guns first, go through due process second". As you might expect, there were pro-gun psychopaths all over the country that wrote about it on websites, saying that Trump the 'gun-grabber' is trying to grab their guns, without due process of law. This is not the first time that Trump has mentioned due process of law. There was an article on a website called reason.com that was published on July 10, 2016. The article was titled: 'In Donald Trump's America, Freedom From Due-Process Constraints'. The article said that Trump admired the Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein, because Hussein could put people in jail without due process of law. Indeed, elimination of due process is the hallmark of brutal dictatorships, not just Hussein's Iraq, but other dictatorships, too, including Nazi Germany. Nobody in Nazi Germany was getting a fair trial, the Gestapo would just take them away to a concentration camp, where they would be killed, there was no trial, no due process of law. I think that Trump is trying to achieve the same thing that Adolf Hitler and Saddam Hussein achieved: terror.
On January 24, 2016, a website called cnn.com ran a story about Trump that quoted Trump as saying that he could shoot somebody on 5th Avenue in New York, and people would still vote for him. The average person would probably say that Trump's a fool, and Trump should shut his mouth. Suppose a psychopath who is armed with a gun heard Trump talking about gunning people down on 5th Avenue, what would a psychopath think about it? A psychopath might think that he should go out and do it. In the sick mind of a psychopath, Trump appears to be a legitimate person, who is saying something that is perfectly rational and legitimate. So, he feels that Trump is endorsing the act of shooting someone on a crowded street like 5th Avenue, and then he gets his gun and he goes out and does it. Who could this psychopath be? Who is this psychopath who was inspired by Trump? The psychopath could have been the 19-year-old named Nikolas Cruz, who was suspected to have shot 17 people to death at a high school in Parkland, Florida, in February, 2018. Nikolas Cruz is just one of the psychopaths who has been inspired by Trump, there are probably many more who have not yet been brought to justice.
Right after the shooting incident at the high school in Parkland, Florida, Trump seized upon the opportunity to try to squeeze some political blood from it. Trump tried to use the Florida school shooting as a reason to take away due process, saying that we should not wait until somebody starts shooting, we should take away his gun now, without any trial, without any hearing, and without any due process of law. What would happen if we could put people in jail, without any due process of law? Suppose Donald Trump could be put in jail, without due process of law, I think that would be great! Suppose the entire Republican party could be outlawed without due process, and all the Republicans could be put in jail! That be wonderful! But, realistically, I think that due process is here to stay. We actually have to wait until Trump violates a law, and then he can be put through a legal process called 'impeachment' and formally removed from office. All of the Republicans can also be prosecuted for what ever they have done, and they will all have the right to due process, too, when they go. So, to summarize the situation, we can say that Trump inspired the Florida school shooting when Trump said that he could shoot someone on a crowded street like 5th Avenue in New York and still get votes, and after the Florida school shooting had happened, Trump tried to use the shooting as a way to eliminate due process of law. Trump creates a situation, then he tries to use the situation for political gain.
