Two of the Most Destructive Words.
Refusing to admit wrong is stupid
What are the two words that always go together?
“When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long.” Psalm 32:3 New International Version
What are the two words that always go together?
Give up?
Stupid and stubborn.
You know there are people, and unfortunately I have met many of them, who refuse to admit they are wrong. They know dead to rights they are wrong, but will never admit it.
One time when I was teaching some Chinese students, there was a rule in class only speak English.” I was helping this one student when I heard a student across from her speak Chinese. If you speak Chinese you must come to the front of the class and sing a silly song. They didn’t whisper it, they were talking out loud. I spun around and pointed at them “You spoke Chinese.” No I didn’t teacher” “”I heard you”!” They swore up and down they weren’t speaking Chinese.
May sound funny but that is the way many people are. They are caught dead to rights doing wrong, but will never admit it. But you know what? As they get older, they have fewer and fewer friends and are sad miserable people. If only they would confess their sins, a heavy load would be lifted from their spirits.
“When I refused to confess my sin, I was weak and miserable, and I groaned all day long. . . . My strength evaporated like water in the summer heat. Finally I confessed all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. . . . And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone” Psalm 32:3-5 New International Version
How about you? Have you done something or someone wrong and refuse to admit it and apologize? Have you done wrong to God and refused to admit it and apologize?I warn you children, it will weight you down and suck the life out of you like you suck pop out of a straw. I know, I have seen it many times. People who were once lively and happy, now are sorrowful, bitter and empty shells of people. All because they are stubborn and stupid. Stupid because they know what they did was wrong and should rectify it. Stubborn because they refuse to admit they are wrong and rectify it.
“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: to choose one’s attitude.” Viktor Frankl
Prayer: Please Jehovah Rohi (the Lord is our Sheppard) whenever I am a stubborn pig headed child discipline me in a manner which will correct me. Help me to always walk in harmony with You. I request this in the name of our greatest teacher, Jesus Christ. Amen.
May the sunshine of Jesus’ sweet love bless you today and every day.
