A Way Out For Syrian Factions.

It has been announced that the United Nations Security Council has backed a plan endorsed by the United States, Russia, China, UK and 10 other nations to bring peace to war torn Syria. It is estimated that 250,000 people have lost their lives and 4 million have been made homeless during the civil conflict.

It calls on all sides to cease fire and begin peace talks in January, however, Islamic State and the Nusra Front are obviously barred from these talks. Is it reckoned that the Islamic State being hammered from all sides now is on the back foot but could still be a problem for a while yet.

John Kerry said strong disagreements over Assad's fate remain between the Americans and Russians and the French have said he is barred from standing in any UN monitored elections after an initial transitional government which will have to be in place before elections.

What will happen to President Bashar al - Assad once a government has been democractically elected in Syria is anyones guess it more than likely he may go into exile in Iran or Russia.

Should Islamic State or the Nusra Front have been brought into the peace talks as surely jaw jaw is better than war war to paraphrase Winston Churchill or have they gone so beyond the pale to be even considered for the cease fire agreement well that certainly appears to be the case.

If and when stability does return to Syria what about all the migrants who have made their way to Europe? Will they return or will some stay time will tell.

Interesting post, but I have a feeling this peace accord will collapse. Assad wont go awsy so easily. The West would be responsible for it. Making going of Assad an issue is wrong
