US 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION
Speeches rather than programs
Well, it’s not yet Tuesday, November 8, 2016. But US 2016 Presidential election is already here. On TV and Newspapers, candidates multiply declarations every day. Breaking news and front pages refer mostly to ‘’latest campaign news’’. There would be nothing to say if the candidates did not have more speeches than programs.
People would like to hear more about daily issues such as employment, Family care, Immigration, Medicare and Social security reform, same sex marriage, College debt... Instead, which sounds high they are commonplace topics related to the candidates privacy and comments, all distracting stuff. ‘’Classified Emails’’ and ‘’Blood comments’’ dominate the debate, and nothing is heard unfortunately on national issues. Yet the challenge of the presidential election does not allow us to play politics. If breaking news and front pages are focused on trivialities, and televised debates on personal attacks, then the presidential race becomes a national show and a political fantasy.
One says it is always like that. In place of constructive programs, the candidates, TV and Newspapers will serve us news of polls, campaign fundraising record, and the vanity of oligarchs who control political and economic life of the country.
