U.S. Special Forces Sent to Egypt: Operation Pillar of Clouds

Updated on November 23, 2012

The back story is now filtering out. While Hamas claims victory in the latest Gaza incident, as does Egypt, who is playing a key role in the ceasefire, it was a close thing. Israel was on the verge of launching its return to Gaza to once again, search and destroy the frickin' missiles Hamas has been firing and hiding.

They were until President Obama behind the scenes promised to send US special forces to the Sinai in Egypt as a condition the Israelis insisted upon if they were not going to go into Gaza. Operation Pillar of Cloud’s main goal is to stop of the flow of Iranian arms and missiles to the Gaza Strip smuggled in from Sudan and Libya through southern Egypt and Sinai. President Morsi of Egypt promised the Israelis and America it would launch operations in the Sinai where missiles are entering. Also, President Obama decided to accelerate the construction of an elaborate US system of electronic security fences along the Suez Canal and northern Sinai.

American units are suppose to arrive "under the radar" in Egypt next week. Meanwhile, Iranian ships carrying more Fajr-5 missiles are en route already and are being tracked. President Morsi, himself, has now announced that he is the supreme ruler of Egypt causing massive demonstrations in Tahrir Square once again. Many are saying the Arab Spring has only brought another dictator!

How is this all going to play out?

This is fascinating information. That is why I'd like to see some sources on the material about the U.S. troops going to the Sinai and the security fence on the Suez.

I say that because I've been wondering for quite some time why there would be a problem in the Sinai, considering all the Israeli drones in the area. Maybe it's about getting US drones that can preempt an attack on the border via assassination using precision guided missiles.

Also, it seems that all sides—even the U.S.—are declaring victory! But actually, everyone lost except the politicians.

Only sad if things go bad. Egypt agreed to it all as did Israel. It was a condition of the ceasefire Israel insisted on.
