Using God As An Excuse To Hate

Why use God as an excuse to hate?

It would take volumes to list all the crimes against humanity committed by people using the name of God. In almost every religion "mainly the three monotheist ones), is evident how their shepherds have manipulated scripture to bring upon hate, wars and inequality to their flock. Dividing them into groups so they can be targeted easily. Entire countries have fallen by fanatics waving a holy book and a blood stained banner, all in the name of God.

In modern times there is little to no difference. Today is easier to spread hate as you see fit, using the media and the internet. Without fear and with the support of a government that made it a point to protect everyone right to free speech. So why not? People that are easily affected by these populations of the Pharisees will find an ally to promote and justify their point of view, hate.

Is religion the problem,or God has favorites?

Does God gives men the green light to pass judgement?

See results

When men declare themselves God's representative.

I find it fascinating how many people over the course of human history that have declared themselves, God's representatives on earth. That was expected from the uneducated, oppressed people hundreds of years ago, to follow any crackpot that declared himself a prophet.. Even today, they are still popping up like daisies. Like a salad bar in a restaurant, they can pick and choose what precepts to follow. As a Christian is embarrassing how many of my fellow men fall into the category of bullies just because some clown in the pulpit told them that it is OK to discriminate, bash and even hates others.

When you Google " hate crimes" most of them are by some religious group, organization, cult and specially centuries old established churches. I cringe when I hear someone taking it upon themselves to dictate God's will. Citing verses of the Bible or other book, that will back them up on their argument. As Sunday approaches the only thing that is sure, is that the word God, mercy and compassion, will be overshadowed by judgement and how many of us will surely go to hell.

List of Christian "based" organizations or churches that promote hate

According to the Southern Poverty Law Center these groups have openly voiced out their beliefs against one or more groups of people.

  • Abiding Truth Ministries
  • American Family Association
  • American Vision
  • Bethesda Christian Institute
  • Chalcedon Foundation
  • Dove World Outreach Center
  • Faithful Word Baptist Church
  • Family Reasearch Council
  • Illinois family Institute
  • Mission America
  • Sons of Tundr ( Faith Baptist Church)
  • Tom Brown Ministries
  • Traditional values Coalition
  • True light Pentecost Church
  • Winsor Hills Baptist Church
  • Westboro Baptist Church ( yeah those people from TV)
  • You Can Run But You Can't Hide International ( Yes.. That's their name)

What the faithful fail to see

I have been studying the bible for many years. Not read, studied it. I was surprised by how many passages are used out of context to fit whatever some preacher was trying to convey. To test this hypothesis I have visited many churches, many denominations. All claiming to have the truth on their side. On many occasions I was forced to stand up and exit the building before I lost my breakfast.

I am a firm believer in sowing seeds of love, not hate. In spreading compassion, not judgement. Brotherhood, not division. Most of the time, in my visits I would mention the last denomination that I visited, One hundred percent of the time, their comeback was-" That is the devils church, don't go back.". According to my calculations, that would mean that all churches have a satanic agenda? Are they all wrong?

As I sat for the services, I looked around and listen to the message. During almost all visits, to all those "churches", money was mentioned 40% of the time. Condemnation and the devil 50%. Leaving less than 5 % to an actual loving God. This has been a common pattern for the last 25 years, with not one exception. When the Internet became more and more accessible, It was easier for me to get a broader perspective of this phenomena. Apparently is a world wide problem.

Using the bible as a weapon of mass destruction

It's bad enough to try to grow as a Christian among so much division. Is a flat out painful to watch how some people take it upon themselves to harass, demean and even hurt others, in the name of God.

This self entitled faction of the church, any church, is uniquely dangerous. Because most of the time it goes unnoticed. I never understood why until, while doing research on hate groups in the United States I found some disturbing facts. Out of ninety hate groups, thirty nine is Christian based organizations and churches.

What makes my skin crawl is that I am not surprised. This country was founded on the precept of freedom of religion, but this is ridiculous. The funny thing is that these institutions are tax exempt and free to do whatever they want with the protection of the constitution. Just because they say that they are a Christian based church. While those that happened to be in their target list are left unprotected.

I have and still cry whenever I see people use God as a weapon to destroy a persons life and faith. Why does God allow these people to spread hate in His name no less? Then I realized, is up to all of us to stop spreading the venom, with love and compassion.

The painful truth

What happens when free speach and freedom of religion becomes poisonous

I don't understand how someone's rights are violated while others receive preferential treatment. I don't know. How can belittling, harassing and even terrorizing a group of people or any individual is constitutional. How? Why?

I am a Christian, straight, mother, wife of 20 years with morals that can't understand bigotry, racism, segregation, sexual orientation discrimination or social class differences. Am I missing something here? Why some churches preach hate instead of love?

When religion becomes dangerous is like a regime of dictators and a form of slavery. They follow a leader blindly and then commit horrible crimes against Humanity. Afraid to take a second look at their actions, while their hearts harden to the point of spiritual death.

There is still hope

Humanity is an interwoven miracle. At least I like to think so. There is still hope. Is not about religion, politics or your zip code. Is about recognizing the love and dignity of living in a world without hate, without wars with compassion for all. To educate all people to embrace and give their hearts to all that unites man kind.

In 2011 my son was watching this video, and could hear it from our kitchen. As these words floated through the air, I began to weep. To hear those words made me realize that there is hope. Hope that one day will be rid of hate and division. The hope of a better place for my children and my children's children. Love, embrace, with no judgement in our hearts.

Luke 17:20-21

New King James Version (NKJV)

The Coming of the Kingdom

20 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

We are all one

" I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness - not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost....

The aeroplane and the radio have brought us closer together. The very nature of these inventions cries out for the goodness in men - cries out for universal brotherhood - for the unity of us all. Even now my voice is reaching millions throughout the world - millions of despairing men, women, and little children - victims of a system that makes men torture and imprison innocent people.

To those who can hear me, I say - do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed - the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish. .....

Soldiers! don’t give yourselves to brutes - men who despise you - enslave you - who regiment your lives - tell you what to do - what to think and what to feel! Who drill you - diet you - treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder. Don’t give yourselves to these unnatural men - machine men with machine minds and machine hearts! You are not machines! You are not cattle! You are men! You have the love of humanity in your hearts! You don’t hate! Only the unloved hate - the unloved and the unnatural! Soldiers! Don’t fight for slavery! Fight for liberty!

In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!"

- Final Speech from "The Great Dictator" 1940

Your question capsule said, "Does God give men the green light to pass judgment?"

My opinion, God does not judge and we should learn to to judge also. By "judge" I mean to make a decision which results in negative emotions such as: hate, fear, anger, etc. These negative emotions cause psychic pain (sin). We can avoid this pain (sin) by not judging to the extent of negative emotions.

So to answer the question: No, God does not give men (a spirit in a material body) the green light to judge (to the extent of psychic pain).

To denounce existing churches and their teachings may be true, but what is needed is a group which teaches more correctly. I suggest researching, the Association for Research and Enlightenment (A.R.E.) or the Edgar Cayce Foundation. This is not a church, but a group dedicated to researching our spirituality. By spirituality it means: an energy body, past lives, reincarnation, Near Death Experiences, telepathy, holistic medicine....

I have been studying this for a long time and accepting a few things completely changed my view in how I think it is being taught wrong. With such a short life time it only made sense that we are only seeking spiritual maturity. Something you can not gain by seeking Earthly things. If you made a list of your Earthly problems and then made a list of your spiritual problems they would lead you down two completely different paths. Every time we combine both Worlds we corrupt our spiritual purpose. A good example is a preacher and his money or those who force the World to believe, such as medieval Europe. A practicing believer does exactly that and that is the difference. The so called perfect believer has often changed nothing but claims the title any way. When I applied the term sanctuary the Bible finally made sense. You must build Sanctuary in yourself first. Why our children so selfish? Because they must save themselves first. You then build sanctuary your home and begin to leave selfishness behind. To do this you must keep the violators of sanctuary out. When you read proverbs it begins to make sense. The Ten Commandments make sense. If you are living with an adulterer how can you have Sanctuary? If the person is committing adultery with the next door neighbor who is also married how could you possibly have sanctuary. There are many examples but hopefully you get the idea. I truly doubt that faith was ever intended to be a mandatory requirement on this World. If anything we live in purgatory and faith requires an Individual Journey. I do not change the words of the Bible but seek to understand its meaning regardless of how I feel about them. Sin is simply telling you that you our not growing spiritually. Not all things assumed required are the requirements and if they are Earthly requirements they are probably not required. Most things written are lessons and examples and are not legal notices. This does not mean that they are intended to be ignored but to be recognized and overcome. A true sin is cumulative and eventually causes you grief. Condemnation teaches you fear and to not question the reason why. With out the answer why you are missing the ability to learn wisdom and will fail to recognize deceit. I could go on forever. Were not men and women equals when they were made? When did hate ever bring your enemies to listen? One must still stand on all its principles but condemnation is not required in order to keep them. Every time we discriminate we give permission to be discriminated against. Rather then deny choice I demand that I to have one as well. Imagine what choices we might have now if we had done that instead.

Four miles to the east of the location mentioned in my last post is a memorial making the spot where 8 people were martyred in the year 1542 for the crime reding the scriptures at home. These 7 men and one woman were given the opportunity to recant which they declined to do and then were burnt to death at the stake. They were known as Lollards. The same fate awaited a 14 year old boy in Essex in the same era and one man was executed as an example not 50 yards from the

St Alban's cathedral so the parishoners would refrain from converting.

Occassionally i attend meetings for worship in the woodlands just outside of the Greater London area. The building was erected in the year 1688 and in the grounds is in repose the remains of William Penn and his wife. I understand that Penn in his vision for a perfect city made a pact with the local tribes without having to kill any of them. Getting back to 1688 prior to this date assembly of those outside main stream faith were banned by Royal decree so it is quite significant that we don't take our practices for granted
