Nothing But Truth With Crane Durham

Updated on August 24, 2012

Crane Durham is an up and coming host of a popular conservative radio talk show called “Nothing But Truth” (radio and TV) aired on American Family Radio Network. The network has approximately 145 stations across the country and continues to expand.

He began his radio career in 1993 hosting a weekly news analysis program at “Ole Miss”. After college he worked in different areas of media until 2000 and then decided to make it a full time pursuit.

Well, that’s a fair description of the man…if you’re writing a resume! So, who is Crane Durham and why is he becoming so popular? Listeners say it’s his honest, forthright commentary which gives his show a breath of fresh air and innocence.

The show combines analysis of current events and social policy with expert guests, spiced with his own unique style of humor. Crane encourages listeners to call and air opinions on current topics. He adamantly states he isn’t about Republicans or Democrats…only conservatism. People who agree with his views, as well as those who don’t, are welcome to voice their opinions and even rude callers are treated with class and dignity.

Mr. Durham displays originality. He simply does not listen to peers in his profession. One might think that odd. But it makes sense…he doesn’t want to be a copycat or act like other conservative talk show hosts.

However, there are some who still can’t come to terms with the fact Mr. Durham has a right to respectfully disagree with the president on policy. The key word being respectfully. If nothing else, Crane demands respect be shown where due.

As an example, Crane refers to President Obama  as "My president". He advocates respect for the president although he may disagree with his policies.

Extensive use of audio and visual clips to back up controversial subjects being highlighted on either his radio or TV shows enforces their authenticity. Who can argue with statements or actions caught on camera? Either you said it, did it, or you didn't.

Describing himself, crane says, “All too human… yeah, that’s me. I voice my opinions yet I am flawed. Every day I work on becoming the man I want to be, but fall short. This has given me humility as well as an appreciation for those who make mistakes. It is not if you fall; your character is defined in the manner in which you get up. Without getting too personal, I would be remiss if I did not state that all good things in my life flow through my lord and savior Jesus Christ. I say this with the utmost respect for other belief systems (religions). If you know where I stand on issues; you will certainly understand who I am.”

Additionally, Crane is a staunch supporter of the United States military. “I believe the most under-appreciated citizens in America are those who have or are currently serving in the United States military.” he stated. “I was absolutely disgusted by the treatment of the US Military during the 90’s and believe that it’s a primary function, if not the primary function, for a government to protect its people. That protection begins and ends with the respectable treatment of the Armed forces as well as the constitutional rights of its citizens.”

Also boosting his popularity is his conviction that; actions are more powerful than words. If one advocates a healthy, honest, Christian life; then they must live it as well. Sounds like a pretty popular guy.

I have spent the last few months listening to Mr. Durham's show and, as a Christian trying to re-discover himself, I must say this man is driving me to Atheism. I wonder if the writer of this article has ever listened to his show because he is extremely disrespectful to anyone who does not share his brainwashed views.

Actually, I listen to him everyday. I've yet to hear him be disrespectful to anyone. Unless, disagreeing with someone else's view is your definition of disrespect.

I really hope this man does not consider himself to be a Chriatian, I unfourtunately have to listen to him every single day because my employer does, but he is such a predjudice bigot it is ridiculous!!!! I mean all he does is direspect our President every day... Its so sad to me that he makes it his business to talk down on him so much and if you asked the President who is this guy name Crane? he wouldnt have a clue lol, its just like to me if you say you're a REAL Christain then do what Jesus would do and try doing something to help instead of just getting paid to bash someone everyday.

I agree in certain respects he tends to go overboard a bit. But, everyone has a right to their opinion. Obviously, many agree with him as his show has become extremely more popular since this writing.

I've listened to Mr Durham for about 3 weeks now and he has about as much common sense as the republican politicians, which is very little!

You have a right to your opinion...even if it's wrong.

Like the show, don't change a thing. Comments above sound like nonsense from wet behind the ears naive college boys, or the likes of the BO electorate that know nothing til BO tells em. Keep up the good work, maybe someday with the help of fair media like yours, we get our democracy back.

I'm from the old school of journalism where being unbiased was ingrained and not reporting on something or intentionally omitting certain facts was the same as a lie.

Crane uses a variety of verbal props on his show...sighs, pauses, "but I digress" after a non-pertinent and often mean-spirited "aside," and the tiresome--at least to me--"roll it" clips, carefully edited and selected to support Crane's views. Crane does what other partisan commentators do: select only those facts that fit your biases and ignore, distort, or take out of context that disagrees with your mindset on an issue. Crane calls his show "Nothing but Truth," when in fact it is only Crane's often distorted view of "truth." Furthermore, if you disagree with his way of thinking, you no longer can post on his "wall." Yes, Crane, you are flawed like the rest of humanity but unfortunately your flaws are exposed by people who have some understanding and experience in how the world works.

This guy has no respect for the President. He does refer to him as My President, but usually it's after inferring he is ruining America and pleading with him to stop. He is condescending towards views different from his, and while he may allow call-ins from people that disagree, he never interviews anyone that holds a different stance, and all the interview questions are very leading. He is not fair, he is just another pundit.
