WW3: Building Your Food Stockpile

When it comes to World War 3, most people are concerned about the safety and well being of their family. As they begin to prepare for the upcoming war, they are often faced with making war preparations that involve a food stockpile. While the mere thought of building a food stockpile that will last for a year or more can be daunting, it is something that most Americans need to come to terms with to guarantee their survival, and their children.

Sometimes, people assume that the government will protect us, but we all remember what happened after major hurricanes. People were digging in the trash for food well after FEMA help had arrived, and it took FEMA much longer than the seventy-two hours it is supposed to for them to provide aid to victims of these natural disasters.

Because of this, it is important that you can rely on yourself. We all hope that the government pulls through for us, but we must face the reality that they might not be able to. This article will educate you on several things to keep in mind while building your food stockpile, and some great ideas for food that should be included.

Nutrition

While building your food stockpile, it is important to keep nutrition in mind. It may seem like a great idea to get a five-gallon bucket of beans, and this will keep you alive, but it is important to remember that this only encompasses one of the food groups. In order for people to be healthy, the WW3 food stockpile should include items from every food group.

Grains and Breads

Grains and breads can easily be stockpiled in a variety of forms. Granted, bread will not last long and should not be put in the disaster pantry, but grains, such as whole grain pasta, will keep for years. Families can also include rice, quick breads that can be cooked while there is still electricity, cereal bars and dried potatoes. When ww3 hits, your family will need the extra carbs to keep their energy up, especially if they need to bug out.

Vegetables

Dairy

Powdered milk and powdered eggs are a great option. These can also be used for baking before the crisis hits to rotate the food stockpile and avoid waste. Instead of throwing out fruit juice from the bottom of the can, drink it to stay hydrated and conserve water. Paper plates can be used to keep a fire going instead of being tossed aside. When war comes, do not throw anything to the side; you might regret it later.

How Much Food Should I Stockpile?

One of the most common questions that people ask when they first begin prepping is how much do they need? This answer is different for every family. Larger families will need to have larger stockpiles of food, and smaller families will not need as much. It’s often helpful to focus on one day at a time when stockpiling food. Start by putting up enough food to last your family size for two or three days. Then, add another three days to it. This will be less overwhelming than heading off to the grocery store in an attempt to buy a year’s worth of food.

Stockpiles do not last forever, so it is important to have a future plan for when it runs out. Learning how to grow your own vegetables and canning skills will help guarantee that your family will be able to feed themselves after the pre-packed food is long gone.

Stockpiling food is no longer something that is looked at as crazy. Today, it is a necessity to ensure the survival of both you and your family.
