What Are We Paying For?

Leadership Lies

Today I heard an author/expert say that

"Effective leaders lie."

I suspect that ineffective leaders lie, too.

Count up some recent leaders' lies.

Then see, if you agree with me.

Truly educated people know how to find the truth.

Bill Clinton said that he and Monica Lewinsky were not intimate.

George Bush, or someone, lied to Colin Powell about Iraq having Weapons of Mass Destruction.

Barack Hussain Obama said that every American could keep their own doctor, their own insurance, and that his Affordable Care Act was not a tax, and put a "period" at the end of his assurances.

Vladimir Putin has said that all countries (including Russia) must perform in keeping with the United Nations Charter.

Adolf Hitler said that all he wanted was enough "living space" for the German people.

Neville Chamberlain said he had secured "Peace in our time."

Franklin Roosevelt said that all the American people had to fear was just "...fear itself."

A recent Iranian leader said that "There was no holocaust."

Obama said that "the use of chemical weapons will not be tolerated."

Richard Nixon said that he had no knowledge of the Watergate break-in.

And we could list the number of politicians who are in jail for lying, and a number of others who perhaps should be.

The Japanese at the start of World War II in the Pacific region said that they were simply creating an "Asia for the Asians" but made slaves of many and despised even more Asian peoples.

Marx, Lenin, Stalin, and now Kim Jong Un have promised a society that would be "a workers paradise."

Chairman Mao did away with China's first constitution in favor of a communist one, and then encouraged "a thousand thoughts to blossom" only to crush China's thinkers without regard to the new constitution, and encourage the death of 20,000,000 Chinese. Tienanmen was later.

Rulers in many lands have made many promises they knew to be lies in order to win unprecedented power from the lies they themselves knew were all too good to be true.

Satan is the father of lies, and he would have dominion over all of mankind past, present, and future..

Someone else told the truth when He said that mankind's one great hope was unconditional love. His vision of charity was known over 2,000 years ago and is still true.

Buddha's teaching, that there is eternal truth in doing nothing to harm another person, is as true today as when he taught it.

Other great teachings are still true today, although those seeking personal power distort such teachings with their clever lies.

We must be careful whose statements seem to be fixed in stone, only to have them turn out to be merely grains of sand blowing in the winds of their rhetoric.

Lies are the tools of the greedy, the evil, the manipulators, and the unjust.

The purpose of education is to teach how to find truth, and the merits of being truthful even when a shorter route to personal goals seems to justify lying in keeping with the falsehood that "the ends always justify the means."

It's the political season when the claim that so-and-so "would get us into World War III" is one of the lies being spread. Watch for the others that ignore the American value of not falling for race, color, creed, or sex as a measure of anyone's ability and worth.

All lives matter, illegal is simply illegal (against the laws we are meant to respect), red/yellow/black, or white we are all precious in His sight, and we believe in freedom of religion just as we believe in freedom of speech and peaceful assembly free of violence and intimidation.

Watch, weigh, and in November vote.

I heard a lot last night in the first debate for the Democrats' 2016 candidates that sounded like more and larger deficits to add to the $18,000,000,000,000.00 our country is already indebted ($154,000 per citizen, enough to pay off most folks' mortgages!)

When is there going to be an honest candidate who tells us it is no longer time for expensive "freebies" and that we are going to be required to sacrifice to get our house back in order with balanced budgets and fiscal restraint devoted to infrastructure and education?

MsB - Like any segment of the population, there are good, bad, not so good, and not so bad. That applies to journalists, ministers, politicians, teachers, parents, children, etc. Even to Hubbers? No one of us could move on without the Atonement for which we need to thank God.

FlourishAnyway = You are probably being truthful, but lying remains a sin.

Journalists lie. Really. I remember when there was honor in being a journalist. Really. Today, as even then a journalist could get killed for telling the truth. I guess that's why journalists perpetuate the lies told by politicians. Trump may extol being a self-made man, but the media has made him a politician.

Ignorance is not bliss. That is another lie. The less you know the more you get confused when things happen. This is a great reminder of the truth that pierces all understanding and the light that outshines the darkness.

Lies are darkness. Thanks for this light.

So lying is prevalent among leaders and we suffer the consequences. Come to think of it, lying at every level is wrong and harmful. No excuses! Thanks for raising these thoughts for our consideration.

To catch the liars and uncover their lies requires being as smart as they are. Collectively we are.

Yellow Journalism won't work. We need media that will be investigative. We need legitimate "Truth Squads" without their own axes to grind.

Most of all we need a citizenry that wants to know the truth enough to find it.

Trump, Rubio, Bush tax plans all increase the deficit.

*remember that when they smear others for doing it*

Chaffets out and out lied during interrogation of Richards....using the lie as if coming from her organization itself!

      *now that is Satanic*

I do agree: Liar and Father of it.
