What is it all about anyway
Why do we do what we do
Right now i am sitting at a desk in an office in Muscat in Oman, approximately 8000km away from my home in Ireland. How did i get here and what am i doing here? I am supposed to be working and i suppose to an extent i am, i'm here. I will be sitting here tomorrow again, and the next day and the next day, and i will still be approximately 8000km away from home. Now the question is not how or what the question is why? The reason is simple, i am here to work and earn a living because i have to. The alternative is to go back home and be unemployed. But thats just me and my specific circumstances. Most people do the same thing day in day out, men and women get up at various times of the day and night and go to work. Parents bring children to school. All is done in a routine, whether we like it or not. And what is the one reason why we do what we do, MONEY. Or is it...
Money makes the world go round.....
The saying, 'money makes the world go round' has been heard by everyone at some stage, no matter what language you speak. The whole world does seem to revolve around money. Noone ever seems to have enough of it.....well i don't anyway. If you had just enough every day to pay your bills and feed your family what more do you need. In my experience there is always someone or something that sneaks up behind you when you least expect it and says, 'pay me pay me'. That forgotten or, left on the long finger bill. At the end of the day yes, money does make the world go round and no you never have enough of the damn stuff. Without it we cannot survive.
Ok as i'm writing this im answering my question 'what is it all about anyway' and the answer seems to be its all about money. you have to look beyond this to find the real answer to this question. I am a father of 4 beautiful children, one girl and 3 boys, and for me, and i would say every other parent out there, that is what its all about. I earn money for them, i live for them. When i was younger i had a good job, my own house and money in the bank but i would not return to that for anything. We are poor but we are happy is the best phrase i can think of. So there you have it the idle ramblings of a man on another sunny day in the middle east.
