"While The President Golfs" My Son Freezes in Afghanistan

Updated on June 30, 2010

While He Golfs My Son freezes in Afghanistan

There's a Wall Street Journal article I found today called, "While The President Golfs." Apparently, one of the things this article points out is that Mr. Obama has spent more time golfing in his 9 months as President than Mr. Bush spent golfing in two years.

I've also noted Mr. Obama has had OODLES of time to do a BOAT LOAD of other COMPLETE NONSENSE and has essentially avoided ACTING LIKE THE COMMANDER IN CHIEF. Forgive the yelling - this whole thing just frosts my hide.

And speaking of someone's hide being frosty - my son called his wife from Afghanistan and told her they are cold, very, very cold at night. They are patrolling all night long and winter has already hit - and the cold is TO THE BONE.

This President is - quite frankly - useless. it was horrible enough he never came close to serving in the military - as I tried to tell people BEFORE this man was elected. Now he literally shows ABSOLUTELY NO CONCERN for our military - even though he is the Commander-in-Chief. WHEN WILL HE ACT LIKE ONE?

Instead he sends Joe Biden - JOHN KERRY - HELLO?! The same IDIOT who called soldiers HE served with MURDERERS?! Lying about the whole thing of course - this is who Mr. Obama sends?!?! [picture me tearing my hair out...]

It was back in AUGUST when General McChrystal asked for more troop strength in Afghanistan. What has the Obama administration done? They have done nothing but STALL - strong arm a sitting Afghan President into having a new election - and STILL THEY STALL.

OK - so he won a Nobel Peace Prize - but could SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME FOR WHAT? WHAT HAS THIS PRESIDENT DONE??? Other than bail out HIS CRONIES with OUR TAX MONEY. And an attempt to bail out even more of his "peeps" on a trip with the Mrs. to Coppenhagen, giving parties for Hispanic week and the Muslim kick-off of Ramadan - personally hosting that one as well - and then there's THE HEALTH CARE DEBACLE THAT HE HAS GIVEN SPEECHES AND INTERVIEWS AD NAUSEUM - not to mention other STUPID PET TRICKS. Somebody PLEASE tell me why he's SO BUSY HE CAN'T TAKE CARE OF BUSINESS IN AFGHANISTAN?! He should be sitting his BUTT down EVERY SINGLE DAY talking to the Generals on the ground and COMING UP WITH SOLUTIONS! This is TRULY A TRAVISTY.

I wish someone would show Mr. Obama my son - who is in Afghanistan and is freezing his tail off. That last photo below a smiling Mr. Obama PLAYING GOLF more times in nine months than George Bush had to time to do in TWO YEARS.  I wish Mr. Obama would DO SOMETHING that he's actually SUPPOSED to do. I WISH HE GAVE A RAT'S BEHIND ABOUT MY SON AND OTHER SOLDIERS OVER THERE!

I'm glad that you try to expand your news horizons. Good for you. And I mean that. But you need to go to primary sources to get your information every time, not blogs and then mix the blog info up with the primary sources which it seems like you might be doing. Anyway - good for you for wanting to "dialogue".

The exit is happening in Iraq, smoothly. That's the Bush administration's plan - the one my husband helped to form. The first time my husband went there was to work out the transition with NATO. Then he went back for an exit strategy for both areas - Iraq and Afghanistan. Mr. Obama has changed absolutely nothing of that strategy for Iraq. He has kept all of the Bush implementations (that my husband helped to execute and form). It's very complicated and I didn't understand it either and still have trouble understanding it. But it goes (essentially) like this:

Iraq was run by a Dictator in a classic sense. The country has not (at least for many years) been a "religious" or Muslim country. So when the U.S. helped to set up a Democratic type of govt. it wasn't all that difficult. The Iraq people wanted it. There were some tribes who didn't because they didn't trust the U.S. plus they hated the some of the tribes who wanted a Democratic government. You have to see that region as very, very tribal and VERY different than the way the U.S. is for instance.

Afghanistan is totally different - yet still VERY tribal and that's where the problem is right now because Mr. Obama is not listening to his military advisers. General McChrystal is someone Mr. Obama picked too! So that is why two months in a row - there have been record breaking deaths of our soldiers in Afghanistan. Mr. Obama is stalling and he isn't making decisions nor is he listening to his military leaders.

You can't use "he's only been in office" for so long. He has advisers, he has top military telling him what he should do. He's not listening. Mr. Obama is playing politics and trying to please the left. But I digress --

In Afghanistan, the Pashtuns - like a tribe -- is made up of Taliban BUT - most of the Pashtuns aren't Taliban. However, the Pashtuns don't like the U.S. going out to their tribal areas - way, way out in the middle of nowhere (where my son's Brigade goes) and "bothering" them either for that matter. They don't like the Taliban but they don't really care much for the U.S. ALSO - Afghanistan and this would for the most part include the Pashtuns and the other Afghan tribes - want a THEOCRACY. They want to have a government that is run by Muslims who follow the Koran. My husband advised that this is OK - just make sure they don't help the Taliban - or any of the other tribes - and let the Afghans have the government they want - as long as they are truly allies and leave the Pashtuns ALONE. If the U.S. left the Pashtuns alone - they'd (for the most part) just go about their business.

We should be singling out the Taliban - take care of them and let the Afghan people have any kind of government they want. But that's a total aside. Right now they have a sort-of Democratic government and there's definitely unrest - claims of corruption etc. So it's very complicated and the exit strategy isn't paramount on this administration's mind - and that I don't blame them for.

What I DO blame Mr. Obama for is his indecision. His top Military adviser told him what is needed RIGHT NOW (last August) and Mr. Obama has not shown any leadership what-so-ever - he won't make a decision and he is scaring away the allies as a result. The U.N. is going to pull out - France won't send another soldier - and there are other European allies who want to get out and won't send any more troops. I just Tweeted an article that states it is literally due to Mr. Obama's INaction that things are falling apart over there: By SLOBODAN LEKIC

      The Associated Press

      BRATISLAVA, Slovakia

NATO members the Netherlands and Denmark said Friday they will not send more troops to Afghanistan unless its Nov. 7 presidential runoff creates a legitimate government and until President Barack Obama decides on a new strategy.

Now - with regards to why wouldn't the newspaper bother to print any articles that actually told THE TRUTH - because I have never, in my life-time seen such an irrational, rabid, baseless hatred for ANY U.S. President. No one deserved it LESS than Mr. Bush. By my telling them at this editorial board meeting - that there WAS a Bush strategy - that would mean their constant articles that the newspaper printed (Not just the Lansing State Journal either some AP/UPI - some from other sources, some they wrote themselves) would have to stop. The drum-beat of hatred for Mr. Bush was just something they had to keep pounding. They wanted to bring him down and even though Mr. Bush served two terms - they did succeed in helping the Democrats demonize Mr. Bush. And this collective drum beat throughout the biased media ushered in someone like Mr. Obama. They didn't want to know the truth, they just wanted to keep "name-calling" and their articles DID continue - but I have to admit - due to my repeated objections, they became less frequent.

Something like 90% of the media vote Democratic. They collectively hated Mr. Bush for irrational reasons - and they wanted to bring him down. I saw their vitriolic hatred personally, one editor literally spitting Mr. Bush's name and screaming, "Bush LIES YOU CAN'T TELL ME YOU DON'T KNOW HOW HE LIES?!?!" It was out of control - and quite a sickening thing to witness first-hand.

Of all the things a President must be RIGHT OUT OF THE GATE - from the FIRST MOMENT he takes that oath is Commander-in-Chief. You can argue that he needs time to get his stimulus plan to work etc. - but he MUST be a strong, decisive and POWERFUL C-I-C for the world to see the INSTANT he becomes President.

The world knows Mr. Obama is very, very weak and that's very, very dangerous for the U.S.

If you want to discuss further - email me any time -

Mr Obama has not yet had enough time to be a nightmare hell story like Bush was...let's see what happens. I will not watch Fox regularly because it is one sided, so I do check in to see what it is that is being said and done as opposed to CNN, BBC and World News. Although I have found them to be pretty fair. I do not watch Network News as I am not interested in being entertained when watching News, I am interested in actual News.

I must ask, what happened to the Exit Strategy? And if your paper-mates, so to speak, knew the truth why in God's name wouldn't they print it? Not that I don't realize a great many newspapers and networks only tell us what they want us to know, this was an exclusive as you said, why didn't they jump on it?

Moonchild - Bless your heart. First of all - Muslim terrorists "got us into" Afghanistan. They started this war, not us. Secondly - you are unfortunately UTTERLY wrong about Mr. Bush "not having any goals" or as the left-leaning media REFUSED to report was - Mr. Bush DID have an exit strategy. In fact, MY HUSBAND - a Colonel in the U.S. Army - missed his son's High School graduation in the year 2006 while my husband headed a team of military "think tanker" in Afghanistan to come up with an exit strategy. I can't REALLY blame your total ignorance though, as the media purposely hid this FACT. I know that as well from personal experience as I was on the editorial board of Gannet New's "The Lansing State Journal" - the main newspaper for the capital of Michigan. In a meeting with the entire editorial staff, I TOLD them that they could stop printing stories that "Bush has no exit strategy because my husband just went over there to MAKE AN EXIT STRATEGY. Not ONE editor, not the publisher, not ONE reporter would talk to me. They scurried out of that room like they were rats in a sewer so fast, I thought for a moment I dreamed they were never there.

Why? Because they STILL wanted to print the "Bush has no exit strategy" stories. And they did - even though it was a complete, out-and-out LIE. Their newspaper would have had an EXCLUSIVE to that story (as the mission was secret for awhile) - but they wanted to print their own slant instead of the truth.

You should start watching Fox News and read the Wall Street Journal and stay away from the Huffington Post. You'll become less ignorant and actually learn something if you follow my advice.

The only "nightmare hell" is Mr. Obama and how he is destroying this country.

Wow, now who was it that got us into Afghanistan and didn't they have any goals as to when we would leave and how this would pan out?

I do not agree with any of you because I know he his handling business in other areas and trying to fix our dangerous broken ties with the rest of the world.

I am not complaining about Obama because the nightmare hell Bush created as one of the worst presidents in history was so god-awful I need someone to come along to screw us up to that extent before I pass judgement on any one else.

Now that he is president perhaps people will now relate the fact that he couldn't vote decisively as a senator as a problem?

Prayers go out to our fighting men and women!

It is getting to the point where I would just like to see a decision. Either send the troops in or get out. Stop increasing the risk ouy troops will face. Let's not forget this when the time comes for our voices to be heard. My prayers go out to all who serve and as a hub friend, a special salute to your son for his courage.

Hey Pop - just don't let up on this very, VERY sorry excuse for a President. I sure do hope the MISGUIDED folks who voted for this joke of a President will THINK before they vote next time. I am still so flabbergasted by Mr. Obama's disregard for the military. When are we going to boot this guy's behind out of the White House? I pray it starts with the Democraps losing both the House and Senate and Reid and Pelosi given their marching papers!

Jiberish, just went to your blog - I'm GLAD you gave me a heads up, I for some reason must have missed the email telling me you posted that. Anyway - I put that video on facebook with a nod to you and I Tweeted it as well. What a DIFFERENCE! That truly says it all. Trust me - they KNOW Mr. Obama doesn't give a HOOT about them over there and I can tell you it is NO GOOD for morale! Thanks too for your kind, encouraging words.

      Dear cjv,

What can I say that I haven't already said? It is an absolute disgrace that this poor excuse for a President is diddling around while our brave young men and women are suffering in defense of our country. I am so angry I can't even express my feelings coherently. Your son is in my prayers.

If i haven't said it before, I want to say it now, I admire your strength, and I want to thank you and your son for all the sacrifices you all have made for this country.

Re this Obama, I can't even call him president, it is shameful what he's doing. I don't normaly promote my hubs, but if you have a minute stop in to "Reading is Sexy...." at the end there is a short Youtube video, this will show you a glimpse of what the military think of him. Again Thank you for sharing.
