Who Is Herman Cain?

Updated on November 16, 2013

The Man With The Plan

Who is this new style republican candidate who is storming the political scene and challenging the Washington establishment? It's Herman Cain! The man with the 9-9-9 plan. A plan that is to simplify our current tax codes, bring in revenue and allow the private sector to create jobs. Which in turn, will boost the economy and bring us out of the financial woes that we face. Will that be the case? Some say yes, some say no. Some say his lack of political experience is to his benefit because people are really fed up with the typical politician who is just interested in occupying an office for there personal gain. Others say his lack of political experience is a disadvantage because he does not know his way around Washington or how to work the system. From my observations of Herman Cain, he is a leader through his positions with Pillsbury, Burger King and CEO of Godfather's Pizza. Being a CEO of a major corporation is about as good a training ground for a president as anything else except for the military or a governorship, which our current president has none of the above. What he is deficient in, is foreign affairs but could be remedied with the right advisors surrounding him and as long as he is willing to listen. This is a very important aspect of a president's administration, especially in this day and age when we are at war.

Where Did He Come From?

Herman Cain was born in Memphis, Tennessee on December 13, 1945. He was raised in a poor family, with rich and proud values. His father held three jobs as a barber, janitor and chauffuer and his mother cleaned houses. They believed in the a and invested in the theory that the way to succeed was through hard work. He grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he graduated from high school in 1963 and went on to graduate from Morehouse College in 1967 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics. He then married Gloria Etchison in 1968 and they have been married for 43 years. He earned a Masters degree in computer science from Purdue University and began his career as a ballistics expert with the U.S. Navy. He began his corporate climb as a computer analyst with Coca-Cola and in 1977 joined Pillsbury as Director of Business Analysis. Soon he was chosen to direct the operations of 400 Burger King stores in Philadelphia which was a Pillsbury subsidiary. In 1986, after great successes with Burger King, Pillsbury promoted Cain to CEO of their subsidiary Godfather's Pizza where he remained until his resignation in 1996. Mr. Cain served on the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1992-1996 and served as chairman from 1995-1996. Cain served on several boards from 1992-2008 including Aquila, Nabisco, Whirlpool and Reader's Digest.

Herman Cain vs. Bill Clinton

9-9-9 Plan

A simple plan that has made Herman Cain so popular and the toast of the town. Has surged him to the number two republican canidate in the polls under Mitt Romney. It's the plan that attracts everyday Americans because it is not filled with the legislative and political wording that none of us understand. This plan with his no nonsense approach could launch Mr. Cain to be the next republican candidate, or even the 45th President of the United States.

What is the 9-9-9 plan?

  • 9% national sales tax on all goods and services that is suppose to replace hidden taxes that are already in the selling price. Which in turn will lower the price of the products.
  • 9% business flat tax on gross income minus purchases from U.S. businesses, capital investments and net exports. Empowerment Zones will offer deductions for those employed in the zone.
  • 9% individual flat tax of all gross income less charitable contributions. Empowerment Zones will offer additional deductions for those living and/or working in the zone.

To summarize the plan:

  1. It will remove all payroll taxes and unite tax payers.
  2. Provides fewer opportunities to evade taxes.
  3. Lifts a $430 billion burden on the economy due to enforcement of tax collection.
  4. Fair, simple, neutral, efficient, and transparent.
  5. Ends all deductions and special interest favors.
  6. Zero tax on capital gains and repatriated profits.
  7. Eliminates double taxation of dividends.
  8. A platform to launch structured Empowerment Zones to renew inner cities.

In Phase 2 Cain will emplement a Fair Tax that will replace individual and corporate income tax, end the IRS as we know it and abolish the 16th Amendment.
