Introduction

In 2020, the Democratic party is in shambles. A socialist is running first in primaries. The preferred candidate of VP Joe Biden's campaign is on life support. Bloomberg is trying to buy votes with his billions. Starting with a field of 20 candidates, one by one have fallen by the wayside. What is going on here? Who is to blame?

- Feb. 2020

Background

It started in 2016. Hillary was the chosen one. She was suppose to be Obama's third term. She was propped up by the media, the Hollywood celebrities, the Washington insiders, even the FBI and DOJ staffers. She was a flawed candidate with lots of baggage. They ran with her thinking it would be an easy win over Trump.

In a normal year, the VP would be primed to run after a successful presidency. It happened after Reagan's eight years. George HW Bush was his vice president. He won easily and ran as Reagan's third term.

In 2016, Obama did not follow that playbook. In fact, he went out of his way to discourage Biden from running. He, like everyone else, thought it was Hillary's time. The first women president elected following the first black president.

The Obama Legacy

President Obama was the first Black president. He was the Democratic party leader. Under his reign, his party went from the majority in both Houses of Congress to a minority. His re-election in 2012 was a fluke. Most democrats running lost grounds. In term of his legacy, Obama was a disaster. His policies were not working. The ACA, his signature bill, would encounter problems after problems. The recovery after the worst recession, was the weakest in modern history. He told the American people our best days are over. Our growth will be maxed out around 2%. Some manufacturing jobs and energy jobs like coal will never come back. His legacy is one of a managed decline. Our military were cut down a few notches. Race relations took a turn for the worst and reversed the gains made over the last 30 years.

President Obama is the main reason for the dissatisfaction. Not because of the color of his skin but because of the progressive policies he instituted. Instead of passing legislation, he used executive orders. He over-stepped his Constitutional authority and changed our immigration policy. His lack of response in dealing with ISiS is what finally ended his halo. The Benghazi affair is a prime example of poor foreign policy that lead to the death of four Americans including an ambassador.

Finally, the politicization of our government agencies like the IRS and the FBI and the DOJ and the NSA...all lead to a distrust of our federal government. They seem indifferent to the wills of the American people. They are bureaucrats that feel entitled to running our lives with more regulations, higher taxes and higher deficits.

Summary

The current state of the Democratic party is in turmoil. There are no new leaders on the horizon. The strongest candidate for president is a socialist. The leaders are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer. Two seasoned politicians that have been in DC for decades and have little to show for their accomplishments. They try to impeach Trump and failed.

Now, they are stuck with a 78 year old Bernie Sanders to head their party. He is not even a party player. Their people wants a different direction and unfortunately, that direction is far left. 2020 is shaping up to be a referendum. A clear choice between Trump, a capitalist, and Sanders a socialist. Let the people decide.

President Obama's VP, Joe Biden, also running for president did not even get his endorsement. What is that all about? What does that say about President Obama? He chose someone to be second in command in 2008 whom he does not trust to take over his job. He ruined Biden's chance in 2016. Now, in 2020, he is still indecisive.

What about Biden? How is it that someone who has been in politics all his life, reaching the height of Congressman, Senator and Vice President, and yet receive so little support from his own party? Where are the good men in the Democratic party?

Obama can claim his legacy. His dream of a universal healthcare hangs in the balance. His legacy is the total destruction of the DNC. IMHO.

Obama's Legacy

  • First black president of the US
  • Winner of the Nobel Peace prize
  • Passed the ACA or Obamacare legislation without a single GOP vote.
  • Doubled the National debt to $20 Trillion.
  • Supported the Paris Accord of climate change.
  • Signed the Iran Nuclear deal that gave $billions to the Mullahs including some in Cash.
  • issued the executive action that will shield millions of undocumented immigrants from deportation

"Blame" is an interesting word. "By design" maybe a better concept. Cyclic. They need to test how far left. No one you mentioned has a stake in being called socialist.

carolyn, you are right. The dishonesty is just over the top. I have friends who claim the economy is a natural cycle and has little to do with government policies. Then they attack Trump for hurting everyone and giving tax breaks to the rich and making money for his companies...

Here is what gets to me. Under Trump, we have a roaring capitalist economy. The democrats have two takes on this situation:

      1. The economy really isn't that great, and it isn't working for "everybody." Only the top are doing well.

      2. We have a great economy, and Obama is the reason for it - because of his policies that he started 10 years ago.

You can't have it both ways. You can't have Obama claim credit for a great economy, and at the same time say that it's not that great. It makes me want to yell at the TV!

      T,

It boggles my mind that many of my liberal friends don't see the obvious. They still think Obama is the greatest president...despite his many failings. They blame us the people for being racist and not giving him a chance...In fact, he got everything he wanted and more.

So true Jack. The idiot party establishments on both sides of the aisle just can’t learn from anything.

When the writing was on the wall in the Republican primary for 2016, namely that the conservative candidates wouldn’t win unless they rallied around one candidate the so called conservatives who had over 60% of the vote gave up the cause each to pursue their own power making it impossible for any of them to win.

The same thing is happening to the Democrats. They’re all so narcissistic they can’t learn from the past and so will lose the election when Bernie gets killed in a landslide.

All the moderates needed to do is unite around one candidate but since they are the party of division that is unthinkable.
