Who is Narendra Modi?
Narendra Damodardas Modi is currently the Chief Minister of one of the most developed states on India i.e. Gujarat. He is the present face of India’s 2nd Biggest political party i.e BJP (Bhartiya Janta Party). He is also the current Prime Minister candidate of BJP for 2014 Elections which makes him one of the most popular Indian in latest times.
History of Narendra Modi-
Narendra Modi was born on 17th September,1950 in Vadnagar which is a small district in the State of Gujarat. He was the 3rd of the child out of 6 in total, born in his family. In his early days only, Modi was forced to work at a tea stall along with his younger brother. He did his schooling along with work & he was a good debater in his school, according to his teacher.
Modi becoming CM of Gujarat at such Young Age-
Modi was a key activist in political works of BJP right from 1995 & then in 1998 in Gujarat Elections which helped Keshu Bhai Patel to stay as the CM of Gujarat. In 2001, Keshubhai Patel moved on to give his seat to Narendra Modi. At that time, two of the senior most officials of BJP i.e L.K. Advani & India’s former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee wanted modi to join as a Deputy CM under Keshubhai Patel. But, Modi refused the proposal & wanted to have full control over Gujarat. Finally, on 7 Oct, 2001 Modi was given the throne of Gujarat’s CM & given the responsibility of making BJP strong for 2002 Elections.
The Dark Night of Gujarat & Modi’s Life-
On Feb, 2002 a train which was filled with Hindu Pilgrims was burnt by some people. The tragedy led to death of 58 people & The rumors started that all this was done by some Muslim activists, which led to Riots in Gujarat leading to deaths of Thousands Muslims. Approximately more than 2100 people died in 2002 riots. Modi announced curfew in most of the cities of Gujarat & Army was called to take control over Gujarat. In 2009 a team was set by Supreme Court of India which investigated & gave Modi a clean chit for Involvement in Gujarat Violence. Although media portrayed him as a Hindu activist & other parties displayed that he is against Muslims.

Even after so much of protests of Congress Party against Modi, it didn’t stopped him to win Gujarat Elections in 2002 & the in 2007. Modi’s work was appreciated over these & his increasing popularity forced BJP to make him Prime Minister Candidate for Elections in 2014 ahead of L.K. Advani & Sushma Swaraj. This led to protests within BJP but other senior officials of BJP which were with MODI helped to to win confidence of all within BJP. If someone asks me, then I shall say that I like this Man & the work he has done in Gujarat. His speeches talk about Technology & Development & he has that knack of influencing others with his words.
