Why Barack Obama Had My Vote...Again
President Barack Obama
Barack Obama
I'm in for 2012
I have no regrets at all about casting my vote for Obama in 2008 and I intend to vote for him again in 2012. I'm not a political junkie. I'm certainly not an idiot or an Obamanite who drank the kool-aid. I'm a mother and grandmother, I want a president who respects women and doesn't consider them a list to be kept in binders. I am neither a Republican or a Democrat. I am an independent voter. I vote for the person, not the party. I think political parties should NOT exist.
I believe that Obama has the capability to make this country better if given the chance and support. I'm not going to defend what he's done or hasn't done. I feel what I feel and that's that. I consider our political parties a bit of a joke. Granted, at least ours is more sane than other countries. They just tend to lack maturity and are greedy.
The first time I listened to Obama conduct an interview I was impressed with his persona. He was a senator in Chicago. Silently I thought that it would be nice if ran for president. A few months later he made his announcement. I was thrilled and no longer silent.
I didn't think he would make it through the primaries but he did. I was flabbergasted. I have a tendency to cheer for the underdog. I also admired McCain until he brought out his "big guns" and announced that Sarah Palin was his running mate. Done deal. I knew then and there that Obama would become our POTUS in 2008. I was 44 years old and voted for the first time in my life and was proud of my choice.

President Obama 2008
When he won it was a surreal moment not only for myself, but for millions of Americans. I often imagine what could have been and that frightens me. There's a tiny chance it could still happen but impossible, I hope.
Some Obama supporters have now turned their backs on our President. He's human, he's not a superhero. He's trying, even though the constant bashing would say otherwise. I think with a bit more support from fellow Americans we would all benefit. This article isn't about me trying to change your mind or opinions. We are all capable of using our best judgement.
Politics and religion are two things I believe are personal and I don't normally voice my opinions on them. I am sharing this because I feel I need to. I'm just a bit fed up with the negativity. All the haters frustrate me. I truly believe that it doesn't matter who is POTUS, there will always be complainers. It's always been that way. It doesn't matter what this man does the negativity is aimed at him in full force. What about the positive things he has done, where is his atta boy every now and then? Seriously if you think about it who would even want that job. Not me!
I imagine other countries laughing at us. First we had Palin and then Trump...we could do so much better. Granted, they provide job security for nighttime comics but we need some serious competition from the GOP. Mitt Romney is not serious competition, in my opinion.
I guarantee there are going to be some people reading this and thinking that I'm brainwashed. I'm not. I am an analytical person who will peel the onion until there is nothing left. I believe that one has to earn trust and it doesn't come easy. I allow the benefit of the doubt. I believe that there is good in everyone, even if they don't realize it themselves.
I trust that the Obama's have a lot to offer this country. Michelle is a mother who wants the best for her children and in the meanwhile will look out for the youth of our nation.
In addition I'd like to thank President Barack Obama for the Home Modification Program. Even though we had to use this program for an unfortunate hardship we appreciate the reduction in our mortgage payment.
I'd also like to thank you for ObamaCare. Because of this program my family and a few friends have been able to get the health-care they need and needed in which they might never have been able to obtain.
These are just two of the reasons I'm thankful for the Obama Administration. I've been called an idiot and been told I've been brainwashed among other foul remarks, but just like the POTUS I take a licking and keep on ticking.
President Barack Obama 2012
Congratulations to President Barack Obama! What an electrifying election! November 6th 2012 was a nail biter for many. Millions of people were on the edge of their seats awaiting final results. The electoral votes were pouring in and adding up. At 11:18 p.m. CNN announced our next president. What a relief! What an honor! What a celebration!
Being a resident of Florida, our sore loser Governor Rick Scott still hasn't called the state for you, but we all know you won Florida! Way to go! Heck, even Big Bird is relieved that his job is secure. Women no longer need to be concerned about being placed in binders.
I often wonder if the election results would have been different. If the people who were rooting for Mitt Romney shared why they were supporting him instead of bashing you, could Mitt have possibly won? Probably not, but my belief is negativity gets a person no where.
President Barack Obama is for the people. I have spoken with people who earn more than $250,000 and they have no problem with paying a little bit more in taxes to help get this country back on track. I believe in them, I believe in you! Let's rock!
Disclaimer: This is my point of view. I have no intention of debating how I feel. I'm not judging anyone for their beliefs. We are all entitled to our opinions. Obama for 2012. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I did an astrological reading on President Obama on here. I made it clear I would not respond to the haters, and it went well. But even yet, people are arguing with me about the Astrology of the chart!
The haters are just making up facts. Now they want to impeach him. For what? The R's have no alternative plans for anything. If they don't face up this is no longer a country of old, white men, they will never win an election again.
Did Obama make mistakes? Of course, but he's human. His behavior is above reproach. The only time he lets you in, the anger can be seen in his eyes. I put Fox News on Election night, and they were stunned when Obama won the Election so easily and fast. I even thought it would be a long, drawn out thing like Bush/Gore. I think that began the divide in our country. Sandra Day O'Connor recently said she was the swing vote that made Bush the POTUS. I used to respect her so much, but when I knew she thought a coke sniffing rich Daddy's boy who messed up every job given to him would be a good POTUS, it made me so sad.
Let's see what happens in the midterms. I think the D's can take it. But they all have to stop the nonsense and work together.
Got buyer's remorse yet? You now have voted twice for the worst president in American history.
Sleeper awake before it is to late. You are a liberal and all your writings reflect that. If you listened to President Obama's State of Union you heard so many wonderful things he wants to do that everyone wants to see happen and notice he said that these wonderful improvement to our country will not increase the debt - well how do you think he is going to pay for them when we are out of money - TAXES.
Sunshine, if you made a donation to the Obama campaign, you should get one. I'm looking forward to this year's, since the daughters seemed to have shot up overnight! ;D
What this election showed is Big Money can't buy elections. In fact, I believe the hundreds of millions - I heard a total of $2 BILLION - poured into races by the richest of the rich to defeat Obama and Dem candidates actually worked against that goal. Too many in the 99% saw it as money that would've been better spent on creating jobs **in America** and making life better for all Americans instead of trying to grab even MORE power for the 1%.
Beautifully written article. Like me, so many reasons to vote for the President and not against something else. It means a lot to me to be FOR something rather than just against something. While a lot of Romney supporters were for him, what you saw on TV was simply against the President. For that, Romney's supporters have been fairly gracious in defeat and should be commended. Those that were simply against the President (Talking to you Trump) have been horrible in defeat. It says something.
Thanks for a great read.
Wow, I didn't know Florida had finally finished counting. Woohoo! I'm sooooo glad Obama got to 270+ early Tuesday night. Even more glad that he got there without Florida! Now if only Allen West would concede...
Just to irritate my Rethug neighbors, I'll be prominently displaying the Obama Family Christmas cards I've received as a long-time supporter. ;D
Look at that smile....he's purty pa!
I just loved your hub. I am a Independent/Non-affiliated voter and have been for years. You said very eloquently what I have always believed although being a recovering political-addict I usually come off as either sarcastic or too humorous to really get the message out there. I look forward to reading more of your hubs.
Yes he definitely has that smile! lol! seriously, I am so glad he won, genuine guy, and thats what counts!
Congratulations America! You did a good job!
Let's all hope for the best that is yet to come... :)
Hi Sunshine625 - I enjoyed reading your hub about Obama. Although I am from New Zealand I felt he would get back in and I hoped he would because basically I think he is a nice person. I think he is good for American politics. Great stuff, pity he couldn't do another session when the world situation improves!
I think oBAMa is going to BLOW this country to smithereens with his SMILE!
Congratulations for your new but "old" President. If I am an American, I would have voted for him the second time. I still remember when Obama was announced as a President in Irish tv 4 years ago, ( I lived in Ireland at that time) I was trembling for joy. I did not know what happened to me. I just felt happy about it, for the Americans. Sunshine, this is a great hub. Thanks for sharing.
Good hub I agree that there should be more than 2 parties ..... or none at all. America made a wise choice ...great hub
Cheers to that!! I was dancing in my living room at about 11:08 last night...hehehe.
Sunshine,
Very nicely put and I am wondering if it was the tone of your hub (and the thoughtfulness) that led to so many positive comments even from those that disagree. Well done . . .
I'm not a fan of Obama but I think you wrote a very nice article here.
I do believe you have it wrong when you mentioned that our politics lack maturity. I think more-so, American politics come down to contributing Corporations and greed (like you also mentioned). Corporations invest money into campaigns and then in return expect the elected President to turn around, sign treaties and do things to advance their position and make them more money. They also expect bail outs when their corporate heads are idiots and over spend money on giving themselves bonuses. It's a vicious cycle. A simple game of, "I'll do this for you if you do this for me." Our system is so messed up!
4 more years of drone strikes killing innocent children. 4 more years of marijuana dispensaries being raided. 4 more years of a growing debt. 4 more years of a terrible tax system. 4 more years of a federal reserve devaluing our dollar. 4 more years of excuses.
I'm sorry, but having Obama in office for another 4 years is only going to make this country fall even faster. The United States of America has a debt so large that it's almost unpayable. If we keep going at the rate we are going and have been since Obama took over, then the USA will soon have a debt that is unpayable and will crumble, causing everyone we owe, to crumble. I'm not a political person at all and I'm not saying that Romney would be better than Obama in the White House, but at some point in time this county has to get back to the beliefs it was founded on. Until we start letting God back in the court house and schools, then we will continue in the direction we are going and will soon crumble and be at the mercy of other nations. I don't know about you, but I would really like to die an American.
I'm happy the American people decided to give this great man another chance. Now, if the Congress will just work with him!
WHO is happy today? Did I hear someone say, Linda Sue? WHY is she happy? Really? She was rooting for Barack? Hmmmmm......I didn't know that. She must have been very secretive about it. How strange that I just didn't know THAT SHE ABSOLUTELY ADORES OBAMA........??
Is she handing out Champaigne for everyone??? Cheers......cheers...4 more years, Linda!
Hi Linda, Glad the elections are over and the President can get back to running the country. Those that stated it was their job to get President Obama out of office...well, they failed. Still a great piece and a great country - the United States of America.
Congrats Sunshine,
You got the President you wanted...and I should say should really have. I think 4 years was not enough for him to make a dent on all the issues and winning gives him another chance to make another go for it. I may not be an American, but I also know how your politics, and whoever the President is, can greatly affect world issues and resolutions. Congrats Pres. Obama!
Hi Linda,
Great hub and you are absolutely right about everything said here. Obama has won! Just watched the TV announcing that he has been elected Prez again! Fantastic. Very interesting hub. Cheers, Rema.
You're awesome! I always wondered why you were so for Obama, thanks for explaining and I agree with you, whoever is President will always have someone complaining about them
I agree with you so much Sunshine it's not even funny. I love president Obama's persona, I love that he's not snotty, is willing to "show himself" to the public and media, is down to earth and just a people person. I think he's done a decent job with what he was handed (how everyone forgets) and I think he deserves another 4 years to continue on his path forward. Great hub, I knew you were a smart woman from the first hub I read ;).
~Becky
I'm watching US Elections closely from other part of the globe.
Lets cross our fingers.
An engaging hub! Politics is not my cup of tea but my intuition is that Obama wins for the 2nd time as president. You presented your views very well. Well-done!
THANKS for SHARING. Awesome & Interesting. Voted up & Shared
Great article! I just got back from the polling station and cast my vote for the man who is doing things for our country -- Barrack Obama!
You're the boss, Prez......whatever you say. I just figure I'd make a better Joe Biden! LOL
You can be Prez...I'll be your running mate......Til can be Sec. of State because she's the most diplomatic......Wesman can be Press Sec...because he will certainly TELL people where the bear sh&$ in the woods.....Wayne Brown ...Speaker of the House...Maria...Attorney Gen.......Docmo.....Surgeon Gen....(we'll have to lie about his birthplace, but We'll let Donald Trump figure that one out.) bill is speech writer, of course.....Tammy & Kelly can decorate the White House...WILD!!......and our Supreme Court will be a group of anarchists.......& Mickey Sr. can head the Dept. of Marriage and Family planning......(I think that's a new dept!)
Well gf...you and I have had this conversation more than once......I voted for Barack in 2008......I LIKE him, as a person. I also like Michele and his darling little girls and even "Bo," the dog
I'm not a politician lover, to begin with......and I had been in limbo this time for so long. Have also read just about every Political hub here.....
Having said all this....I'm voting for Roaseann Barr!!.....ROFLMAO!!!!
Very well said, and I totally concur. I wrote my own Hub explaining my decision in detail. Great Hub, Sunshine.
You make a good point sunshine. You posted a comment that made me laugh! Hello, I'm sunshine and I approve this message. Lol.
Hi Sunshine,
Voted up awesome hub! Attitude is everything and President Obama is a reflection of this. I still give him the benefit of the doubt, but I am still confused as to who will get my vote. thanks for sharing
After watching the heated debate between governor Romney and President Obama, I can honestly say that I didn't like Romney's attitude one bit. He had a smirk on his face the entire time Obama spoke, put him down constantly during the debate and continually interrupted him. Of course Romney did all of this to make himself look good, but I think his attitude is totally disrespectful and therefore, he doesn't have my vote. On the other hand, President Obama is a very charasmatic and humble person. He remained poise and in control and used humor to diffuse the tension between the two of them. As far as Romney, I don't doubt that he will fix our economy by providing more jobs for our nation, help the middle class and make sure that our recent college graduates have good jobs when they graduate, but there are issues with Romney such as parenthood and immigration that I don't agree with. Therefore, I highly doubt that I will give my vote to governor Romney.
Great Hub you and Obama get my Vote! Voted up and shared!
Loved the Big Bird Debate! lol! yes I love Obama, and his family are lovely too. I know its not really anything to do with us over the pond, but we are watching believe me! lol! great hub linda, voted up!
Linda -
It is the job of a comedian to make fun of the candidates regardless of personal opinion. I try to give both equal time in the spotlight of shame, as to admit my personal favorite only alienates an audience (especially on the noozecast, lol). Obama did well last night, even though he seemed a little argumentative and less diplomatic in his treatment of Romney (did he take lessons from the VP), and Romney flittered and fluttered some, but didn't back down. Some will declare Obama the winner (especially after his dismal performance in the first debate) and some will declare Romney the winner (because of his stand firm against the President stance). It was definitely interesting. Time is short for all to decide, or cast aside. It will prove to be a race to the finish. No landslide either direction, I'm sure. Keep smiling!
I can't vote for him either Linda but I can understand why people like and admire him - some of the US' presidents have not been very good; George W Bush was a pretty unintelligent man and it showed, certainly not the kind of man who should ever have gotten as far as he did (and he got 2 terms!!!). If I was an American, he'd get my vote.
Linda this is a wonderful hub. I am not American but I certainly hear a lot of Americans complain about Obama and what he hasn’t done. As far as American presidents goes, I think Obama is one of the better ones, not only for America but globally; he has done a lot to change the negative perception people have of America and Americans and although Americans tend to think they are an island and don’t need the rest of the world, they are very wrong and very naïve.
If I could vote I would certainly vote for Obama, if for no other reason than the fact that Romeny is quite clearly not up to the task and anyone who thinks he is, is in for a BIG surprise if he gets voted in.
Voted up and interesting :)
Romney will be another Bush looking out for the interests of the rich and corporations at the expense of ordinary people, especially the 47% he derided. Anyone who thinks this guy is going to create jobs with more failed trickle down economics is out of their mind. When will Americans learn that Republican ideas don't work? Why do ordinary people keep electing them even though they are telling us they will do more to decimate the middle class with their failed ideas?
Obama is really underappreciated. He brought the country back from the brink of a disaster and because he didn't magically fix things overnight, many people want to turn the presidency over to a spoiled rich kid who thinks they're happily and lazily living off the government. How can you represent people you don't even understand or in any way identify with?
Obama is a very likable person, very firm in his beliefs, and certainly a good orator. I voted for him in 2008 despite my misgivings of some of the issues brought up in his past.
But we are now in 2012, and while I would still vote for him over McCain, I believe Romney has a firmer grasp on what we need to do to stimulate our economy, create jobs, and improve the overall lot of America.
Is Romney as easy to like as Obama, no he is not, but we need an expert at the helm to handle the issues at hand, this election is not about social issues, its not about foreign affairs, it is first and foremost about creating jobs, and changing the tax system, the corporate taxes especially, and tackling our trade imbalance with China... all things Romney has promised to do. And based on his experience, I believe he can get it done.
Actually... you have a point there!
As a European, I certainly feel more close to Obama I have to say. Nevertheless, yesterday I felt disappointed to be honest. I found him passive and very defensive! I still wonder why he was that defensive...
Anyway, there still long way to go! Let's wait and see.
Thanks for the interesting article sunshine. Voted up.
I am voting for Obama again! He is clearly the better candidate. I don't trust any candidate that has been as secretive or who has blatantly lied as much as Romney.
Well said, Sunshine. :) I wish he hadn't had to spend his 20th with his arch nemesis. LOL.
I watched the debate last night and I was disappointed in the way Obama came across. I don't like Rommey, and I was hoping Obama would "knock his socks off".
I will vote for Obama: I want him in for another term!
I agree some people were expecting Obama to be a superhero. But look what he had to work with. He did what he could. I know if I were him I wouldn't be able to have maintained my composure or dignity as well.
It's going to be a rough road until the election and I'm sure he knows that.
And I'm glad for Obamacare as well. Most people don't seem to realize what alot of us go through just to see the doctor or get a checkup. And I think with the proper maintenance, it can remedy the sore spot our healthcare system has become.
Excellent hub!
He's not my president, but I wish he was!! You're right, he is only human - and the haters will pick on just about anything and the smallest of details to go, "See! That's why he shouldn't be President!" It's ridiculous. Try having a president like what Zimbabwe have and then come and talk to me! Great job here Linda, loved it! Voted up and awesome! Go Obama!!! :)
Obama 2012! YA! Anyone who doesn't understand why airplane windows are sealed should not be allowed to run a country!
Linda -
Does it really matter? The president is only a figurehead and a scapegoat. That's why Congress only allows him two terms. They figure that after that, his value as such is gone and it's time for a new one to catch the eye of the public. Until we limit these same congressmen to two term maximums, we are only fooling ourselves. The associations these lifers have are deeper than any representation of the people commitment...excuse me, they have no commitment to the people. Only a commitment to those multi million dollar corporations that keep them in office and fill there pockets with cash. At one time, it was called graft. Now, it's called lobbying. Good Hub!
Glad you pointed this one out again...I missed this the first time around. I can only say this was a good hub and well thought out. I am disillusioned with the entire process and what happens to anyone once elected, but that's a whole 'nother story.
Voted up, useful, and interesting.
I'm in Canada but if I were in the USA I would be voting for Obama.
Great job on this hub Linda. I will keep all my political opinions to myself, since I am notorious for being a rabble rouser :) Voting up!
It always frustrates me when I hear Conservative extremists (and I know a few) bash Obama in an incoherent, vaguely insulting way, instead of treating the office of the Presidency with some respect. It also frustrates me when I see or hear Conservatives refer to the Democratic Party as the "Democrat Party". It is meant to be an insult, and shows how high their level of maturity is.
I hope Obama wins, but I am not so sure he will, anymore. But I think few Democrats who can vote will decide not to vote. We all know the consequences of a Romney Presidency. Thanks for this hub. Voted up.
Jama,
Just a quick note, Obama had complete control of Congress and the Democrats were in the majority for the first two years of his Presidency. Now that you know he already had a Democrat-controlled Congress to "help him do his magic", do you still think he is capable?
I am looking forward to election day, so I can cast my vote for Obama again. He is intelligent, articulate, reasonable, and is looking out for the country's best interests. Hopefully, he will have the support of Congress this time.
