Why ISIS Hates Music and Entertainment?
Entertainment & Terror
ISIS is known as one of the most dangerous realities in the world, as attempts in many countries happen, so that security measures have to be taken by law enforcements and security staff of entertaining events and public places. Talking in exam some of the most recent attempts (including the last one at Ariana Grande's concert in Manchester), everyone can notice many of them occur in places in which music is the protagonist. But why ISIS is against entertainment in particular? It is evident music is one of the various symbols of our countries, while it is less evident the fact ISIS promotes some forms of music in their countries (it even owns a radio station, Al-Bayan, reachable at 99.9 FM frequency in Iraq). It is a clear form of incoherency.
The Role of Music for ISIS
The first aspect to consider is how music is seen by ISIS: a strategic propaganda tool. A very big different approach to music than the one in our countries, as we see music as a form of entertainment, and not of propaganda. In addition music tends to aggregate people: with music everyone is happy and relations among people are much better in a party full of music and entertainment. ISIS knows this and it also knows the first thing do to contrast its enemies is to hit them by ruining any form of entertainment. Living without music, entertainment and relationships means living bad, and living bad is the first thing ISIS wants for us, so that they can contrast us better. It is a psychological war, first of all.
Music = Young People
Music tends to aggregate more young people than any other forms of entertainment: discos and concerts are full of young people and ISIS knows it. ISIS also knows hitting boys and girls means denying them to have a complete life, while also ruining the one of their families. Attacking young people means attacking the society of tomorrow, while also the present one (considering the families). It is a really strategic plan, and this shows us how much investments have to be done in security, especially whenever we are talking about events tending to aggregate young people.
ISIS Is Not All About Islam
ISIS is not related to Islam, which is a religion in which violence is not contemplated in any form. Fundamentalism is completely out of the Islam's view. Islam is not a religion born to oppress people, deny them any form of entertainment or making them living in the terror. ISIS is born to do so. So there is nothing about Islam when we see a group of people trying to destroy any form of entertainment in our countries. Our music is hated by them because they know music is something which makes us happy, which makes us strong and which makes us united citizens of the world. Just as said before, it is a psychological war, the one ISIS is making against us. Without music we are weak, less united and so more vulnerable. That's the reason why we should never have fear to go to a concert or to listen to our favorite music: it is what ISIS wants for us!
