Why Is This Election Even Close?

Updated on November 3, 2012

November 2, 2012 Jobless rate the worst of any incumbent President since FDR

Close? This should be a no-brainer.

For the record, I don’t believe this election for November 2012 is that close. I believe firmly that the polls are skewed and I am not putting much weight into them no matter which way they swing. Time and post-election will tell.

Let’s, however for argument’s sake, pretend that these polls are correct. The pollsters would have us believe that this race is essentially a deadlock and also that while Romney may win the popular vote, Obama has the electoral vote all locked in.

Today, the jobless rate was announced. There is an “uptick” in those who are without jobs. That means, just one of countless Obama promises broken.

Americans make approximately $4,000 less than when Mr. Obama took office. He promised that the jobless rate would be 5.2% by now. He also promised he should be a one-term president if it wasn’t.

This alone should be reason to boot this man so fast out of office that he wouldn’t have time to grab his golf clubs. Our economy is far, far worse than when Obama took office and there are little signs that it is turning around in any real way. President Obama has the worst economic recovery in history.

The left used to rant about Bush's jobs creation, lest we forget during his administration he actually created jobs, but they claimed they were just burger flippers. At least they were real private sector jobs. The O admin keeps touting this four million jobs created nonsense. According to The Wall Street Journal their pants are so on fire! You can't "create" jobs when for almost four dozen months far more people lost jobs than jobs that were created. As Mr. Obama likes to say, do the math.

Let’s talk about Benghazi, September 1, 2012 and another terrorist attack on American soil (Ft. Hood) during Obama’s less than four short years. Since Mr. Obama loves to recall his predecessor GW Bush, let’s be reminded, after 09/11 there were no terrorist attacks on U.S. soil all the remaining eight years of a George W. Bush Presidency. Remember that.

For over seven hours, our U.S. Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and many other Americans were under attack by terrorists. They frequently communicated with the White House and anyone else they could that they needed help. Yet they were not only left to the slaughter where the Ambassador was tortured and raped before he was finally killed, but where three former Navy Seals were left with no weapons to be murdered as well.

Then the White House watched live, while it all went down. All the while those in Benghazi begged for help. Without any knowledge of how his Ambassador who went missing was, Mr. Obama went to bed and still didn't order help for them.

There were air bases near by. A General was contacted and began the effort to rescue those who were calling for help, but he was not only told not to, when he decided on moral grounds to go help anyway, he was ordered to “stand down” and then immediately relieved of command.

It doesn't get better. The moment this horror became public, the administration blamed protests gone bad because a movie made by an American about Islam offended them. This wasn’t, as the administration repeatedly complained, a planned attack on the anniversary of 9/11. It was the movie-maker’s fault. Does anyone reading this realize as of this writing, on this date, that that movie-maker was incarcerated and is still in jail awaiting trail? Guess when his trial is set? After the election. For what? For exercising his free speech rights? What was this man charged with? Why is this U.S. citizen still incarcerated?

What is criminal is that the White House knew there was impending danger. The victims begged to be provided more security. Denied. It was denied over and over again. Why? The White House isn’t telling.

Why did the White House take over two weeks to send anyone over to investigate this terrorist attack?

Why did the White House refuse to call this a terrorist attack until weeks afterwards?

Why isn’t this entire nation horrified by this whole matter?

How can this election be within any margin of error in any way shape or form? Romney/Ryan should ride a tidal wave into the White House! Mr. Obama, Joe Biden and Hillary Clinton should be doing the perp walk right to federal prison but shockingly, the White House decides to go silent after lying to the American people for weeks about this whole thing, and Obama’s numbers climb a tad? Seriously? What is wrong with this country?! Or more pointedly, what is wrong with the media?

Benghazi is far worse than Watergate and Monica Lewinsky put together because no one died in any of those two cover-ups. The administration lied, people died, there is a cover-up and the media complied. Impeachment should be the order of the day, not a rise in any poll!

Four courageous people who served their country are dead and Joe Biden and Carney say, “we didn’t know”. The President gives a speech to the U.N. and mentions this naughty movie eight times, but managed to avoid strong language about the murdering terrorists who caused all the carnage and death. Hillary Clinton goes before the public within days of the terror attack and talks all about this evil man and his movie. A U.N. flunky by the name of Rice lands on every talk show for a week talking about that very bad movie and all the while these are lies, lies and more lies for weeks and the American people have no answers. If this administration didn’t know, then why did so many other people know? Obama Administration, you’re fired!

When you listen to the corrupt-stream-media and you hear how close this presidential race is and how this is going to be a squeaker until Election Day I say, really? Let me play this game with you. Let’s imagine this description below is all about the Romney campaign instead of what it actually is--the Obama campaign. Be a good sport and play along.

During the RNC Convention, they had to switch from a 70,000 venue to a venue half the size because of low turnout. We’ll say it was because of the weather, but clear skies were predicted two days in advance and as it was, no rain on the day of the RNC Convention. Yet that was their story and they’re sticking to it.

During that convention week, the RNC had to cancel another event at a speedway due to lack of interest.

Ratings were one of the lowest during the candidate’s speech ever for convention coverage and the RNC left owing double digit millions of dollars to various entities after the convention that to anyone’s knowledge still isn’t paid back.

Let’s pretend Romney’s lead in the so-called polls erodes dramatically after the convention and then shockingly sink further even after the first televised debate.

Speaking of that debate, try to imagine Romney showing up like a petulant, weak, angry, bored arrogant jerk for that first debate who stuttered, stumbled, stammered, looked down constantly because the teleprompter isn’t present and was overall very unpresidential.

Think about likability factor that keeps sinking into the toilet

Think about the RNC having to take out a multi-million dollar loan from The Bank of America shortly thereafter.

Consider how few the photos are of rallies taken from a distance of your own campaign because turn-out is very small. Sandra Fluke comes immediately to mind ---- yet photos of the opposition are like rock-star concerts and intimate unannounced appearances by the opposing candidate’s wife brings overflow crowds where lines snake around the building outdoors after they’ve filled all the seats in key swing states. This is for your opposition’s wife no less for the candidate himself (I was at such an appearance myself in Florida for Mrs. Romney).

Imagine Romney had to cancel appearances on his schedule due to lack of interest.

Think about Romney, saying in front of a six year old in an elementary school appearance stop, that the child was bright and could probably recognize a bull*hitter with regard to your opponent.

Imagine newspapers across the country are leaving you like flies and backing your opposition, even one that endorsed your party’s candidate for the last forty years.

Imagine that swing states formally totally in the tank for you, now suck up your very tight resources because your challenger has either already closed the gap or have tilted towards your challenger.

A Gallup poll (not saying I believe it) is showing that an underlying party identification has shifted enormously, approximately fifteen points, from Democrat to Republican

Imagine this was all happening to Romney. Then I’d like you to try to conjure up what all the traitorous-stream-media would be saying.

It’s over. Obama is going to win by such a landslide it’s such a shame Romney is wasting all that time and money.

The final nail is definitely in the Romney coffin, this election is over.

Romney is toast.

All of the factual information I listed above (aside from the subjective information regarding the candidate’s rallies and photos taken) would mean that Romney would be expecting a tsunami of a loss.

Instead, the media is making this a very close race. I don’t, I won’t believe it. I will stay out on this limb and proclaim, along with Dick Morris, that this will be a very sound victory for Romney. I can’t think it to be anything else as a close victory would leave room for this corrupt administration to try and steal the election.

If Romney had done all these things listed here, and believe me, I didn’t come close to a comprehensive list of Obamaisms that have weakened and nearly destroyed this country, this would be no contest for the Treasonistic-media. They would be high-fiving all over the place proclaiming Obama the clear winner.

Remember the promises, so many, broken by the Obama administration about the economy? If they weren’t smart enough to know how bad it supposedly was, then get out and let someone smarter take over because they obviously have no idea how to fix it.

Remember the twelve who died at Ft. Hood and how the administration still won’t call it an act of terror.

Remember the four who died in Benghazi and so many more harmful and deadly actions and policies of this administration.

Don't tell me this election is close. I refuse to believe it. Get out there and vote this regeime out of power and prove the Obama-treasonistic-media wrong. Vote Romney/Ryan November 6!

And Dear Russian, I am so sorry that your wonderful country is being taken over in such a way. It is probably what will happen here I'm afraid. That's why we need a God who is bigger than all of this and all of the evil men who lust for power. I grieve for your country with you, but never give up hope. Turn to God in worship and praise and pray for your leaders and your country. There's always hope in Christ. Always.

tsa - while I don't vote for the person based on their religion - I have to follow my conscience - and - for example - I will not ever vote for any candidate that is pro-abortion. I don't use a candidates religion as a litmus test, but if that candidate goes against Biblical principles - then I can't and won't vote for them. Usually. I think because Mitt Romney has led his life - even when no one was watching - that didn't contradict Biblical principles and in fact seemed to apply Biblical principles - I bought into voting for him. I began to see him as the tool for "saving America" and I'm not sure that was the right thing to do. But what is done is done and now my focus is back onto Christ and trusting in Him and Him alone.

yes, this is exactly what i want to say- looks like your re-election was a fix....

you are right about god.... but it does not work in russia.... maybe in america it will....

my deep condolecenses to you americans and khruschev is happily laughing in his coffin..... :-( :-( :-(

I don't vote on the basis of a candidate's religion because this isn't church, it is government and this country is diverse in many respects, including religion so I don't believe anyone has the luxury of that sort of litmus test when voting for the representative of the whole country. I'll vote the candidate I have to choose from who most closely stands for the positions, policies and principles that I believe in no matter what his religion even though I may not consider him the ideal choice, and that is why I voted for Romney.

That said it is very hard in my mind to believe that God was on the side of either of these candidates. One man has moral values that are so antagonistic to the Christian church and Christian ideals it is hard for me to imagine...the other man is a member of a cult. God has left the choice up to us but, no matter what happens, God is ultimately in control and it is his will that will be done. The course that we (well not me but the whacked half of the electorate :-) have chosen will be how it gets done.

Thank you both Creative and tsa for writing. I'm seeing this crushing turn of events this way - I sold out and believed a man - Mitt Romney could save this nation. GOD is the ONLY hope we have now - I am firmly convinced of that. The evil is too deep. Let's just try to TOUCH the tip of the evil iceberg and remember the suppression of the Military vote which ALWAYS goes Republican for OHIO and a plane with military absentee ballots on it just HAPPENS to crash. Have we heard anything about the O admin RUSHING another plane to get those voting apps to the military? Uh - no. I see this as God REALLY in control and this is HIS battle. Our job is to fall on our knees and pray and worship the ONLY God of the universe and pray He will have mercy on us and our once wonderful nation. It's not impossible. I am resting in His perfect peace. I read all the signs (secular) wrong - a Romney win was SO obvious - but I believe either God allowed or caused an Obama win and it may be to teach this country a lesson OR to allow this administration to AMBUSH itself (see 2 Ch chapter 20 the entire chapter). I'm praying that this snake eating its tail will soon reveal its evil to the world and maybe we can bring this country back from the brink at that point. We can only hope and pray for God's mercy. God IS in control and I do trust Him in His infinite wisdom. Obviously - I was wrong - so now I have to place my trust in God instead of hoping some very nice, capable Mormon man could do it.

CJV, Well lets look at the bright side now -

Even though in a few years the entire revenue from taxes will go to pay interest on the debt, it may have happened already if treasury bonds interest rates weren't the lowest in history.

When we default on our debt, China (a communist country) will be hurt the most (yeah! celebrate)

Obamacare will put evil health insurance companies out of business and we will all go on a government run single payer system, Obama's stated goal.

The supreme court will lean more to the left...bye, bye American sovereignty on the world stage...hello sharia law or other abominations.

America will eventually no longer be able to afford being the premier power of the world, economic engine of the world or bastion of freedom in a predominantly dictatorial world and then will be considered to be eligible for world citizenship (after it has been taken down several notches by the UN).

Obama's America 2016, there is a bright side all you pessimistic woman hating conservative republicans refuse to acknowledge. The American people clearly want you to give in, meet BO halfway and make this happen - for a bright tomorrow.

The truth was no matter how enthusiastic the minority was they were still a minority. White men no longer control who becomes elected. In order to win now you need diversity. But the important lesson everyone needs to learn is what happens when democrats and republicans fail to work together. (catastrophic disaster) America is more than black and white. When politicians only pay attention to their bases they lose touch with reality. The truth was here all along. Facts don't lie and polls are generally accurate. ( There are some that are skewed on both sides)

Admittedly going off on a tangent, I hope we can come together as nation. Everyone wants America to thrive but the only way to do that is through compromise.

And boy oh boy was I ever wrong. The thing of it is - I can't figure out HOW. It wasn't just wishful thinking - it seemed every sign pointed to an Obama defeat. I think HE even though he'd lose. I'm just dumbfounded.

I will be terrified if Barry gets a second term - and I mean that. But I will just have to accept it. However, I don't think it will come to that - I think Obama is a one term failed President and will go down as the very worst in history.

Great hub, Carol. I don't know either how this election could be close. I am actually expecting a landslide. One only has to look around. Compared to 2008, there are a lot more Romney/Ryan bumper stickers and yard signs than Obama/Biden. Obama has been unable to attract the same big crowds he had in 2008 during this campaign tour despite having Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, etc. I feel pretty confident for a Romney/Ryan win despite what the lamestream media is reporting or not. Needless to say, I'd be terribly disappointed and scared for the future if it goes the other way.

How are you doing in N.J. Sooz? I don't remember you telling me you were near the water - but how are you? High and dry? How devastating it has been for New York and parts of your state! Anyway - you make a VERY good point (of course) about Ohio. The other thing - Ohio has a Republican very good, very smart governor. I think the fact he has done so well for Ohio and of course endorses Romney is a big deal as well.

Hey Girl! First, sorry sorry that noggin of yours is misbehaving. Second, I'm listening to that big nawty boy Rush, and he's making some cheering points. Among them, the polling in Ohio ignores what happened in 2010 -- there was a Republican rout. Do we really believe Ohio will say, "Oh yeah. We put in some new people, but we're okay to go back to the way it was before" (before being Obama as an unknown hope). Feel better. Thanks for the kind words about my imaginary hair loss. I'm putting in imaginary plugs and extensions before i visit my liberal friends again. Anticipating having to make a pity cake for them on Wednesday. They will be glum indeed. ♥

Carol -- exceptional Hub and in my mind right on target. I'm also an independent and agree with Frog -- "enough is enough Progressives." I pray the silent majority will get out and vote -- this administration has to go NOW! Best/Sis

Frog - I can only pray that you are right. As my daughter-in-law said - we need an induced coma until this whole thing is over. This is TOO stressful - but I do hope that the independents are going to tip this way over. I think the Evangelicals are also not being counted and they are ENERGIZED! I have never heard of so many Pastors preaching from the pulpit about the evil of Obama and don't forget the Catholics. They are HACKED off. And the Catholic Church is a force to be reckoned with! I hope that this will be enough!

Hi Carol. Good to see you. First of all the polls are inaccurate as we are about to see. They are polling Dems/Repubs and basically ignoring the group that decides elections - Independents. I don't believe it is close at all. Independents are noramlly comprised of The Silent Majority. We last had to speak loudly in the Carter/Reagan election. We are about to have to speak again. Enough is enough Progressives.

I too shake my head as to why this election is close. In all individual categories like foreign policy, fiscal responsibility the President polls on the thirties. Yet head to head with Romney they tie at 46%. I can only imagine this is how the German citizens and the Jews in Germany felt as they watched Hitler rise to power and have people blindly follow him.

Great hub..hopefully Obama is on his way out...then the real work begins, as we need to hold Romney's and Congress' collective feet to the fire. REPEAL and Not replace Obamacare, cut all-nighter federal spending, cut the size and scope of the federal government, remember the 10th Amendment, protect our borders etc...

Love that photo, Carol--and I agre: It's not even close. When the results are in, it'll be the libs who have their hair blown off, their eyebrows singed, and probably a few aneurysms along the way, screaming, "WHA--HOW--NO--VOTER SUPPRESSION!!"

Better that, in their view, than seen reality with no cover-up.

Thanks all for the comments. Nasty head tonight, please forgive the non-individual response - but I did want to tell Sooz - I remember back in the day when I used to do heavy-duty witnessing to cult members. The more angry they got, the more I knew they believed the truth of the gospel I was telling them. I had at least three who left the cult later on tell me so. They may have blown your hair right off (I will suggest hair extensions and hair plugs to correct the bald spots) but they knew that you told them the truth, that's why they got so angry. Good work friend! ;)

Mmm. I must be a Level -1 Commenter. Good post, Carol. I mentioned your Benghazi theory to my liberal friends and got the hair blown right off my head. It was SO worth it. But that's what liberals do. When I inquired politely, "Just where was Obama when the news was coming in?" they literally yelled THEY WEREN'T SEEING IT IN REAL TIME as if that response was sufficient. Fingers crossed for R/R win. Lordy but I hate those double barrelled idiots at the top.

Isn't it interesting how many will only vote for the one they believe will win the election? Someone should explain to them the difference between a horse race and an election. You cast your vote for those you feel will best represent you as a citizen and don't just vote for the predicted winner. It should prove interesting when the election results start rolling in.

You said it! It is a conundrum! When the facts don't fit the perceptions (often called common sense) you know that there is deception a foot. What a surprise? This has been the most deceptive administration (and media coverage I might ad) in history starting back with Obama's candidacy in 2008 and you know a country is in trouble when it's electorate embraces anything that is what they wish to hear without scrutiny. God save us all because the problem stems way beyond this empty suit in the white house.
