What do the republican attack?

Updated on July 28, 2012

As well as the media.

It is confusing me that each time one of the republican candidates reaches a high point, the other republican candidates, as well as the media point out all of the mistakes and all or most of the things that candidate has done. Is this because they want voters to simply know the skeletons in another candidate's closet?

For instance, when Michele Bachman, who is the founder of the Tea Party, was becoming popular, many of her verbal mistakes were put on television. Like the on in which she wished " Happy Birthday" to Elvis on the anniversary of his death?

The largest one though, was the when she called the HPV virus vaccine dangerous, and told the story of a mother who had come to her crying, because her daughter had taken the vaccine and then had become retarded. Later, she said she did not remember telling the story of the mother. She had made more verbal mistakes and the media started to list them, and Gingrich called her " Factually challenged" during a debate

When Rick Perry was going up, he was shot down quickly by the other candidates as well as the media. They accused him more then once of knowing he was hiring illegal immagrants. Since he was in favor of Americans being allowed to own guns, which is in the constitution. The Right To Bear Arms. The media showed cartoons of him jogging with a gun in his pocket.

Hermain Cain was next . He was not on top for long. In fact, he was attacked quickly. By the media, women who said he had sexually harressed them, and his 13 year long affair with another woman. This was in the media constantly. He withdrew from the candidicy after that.

Attacks on Mitt Romney have been not as bad as most of the others, but they are beginning to get worse now, from Newt Gingrich. Gingrich is talking about Romney swiching from one side of an issue to another side. Leaning from the right to the left. He has also been attacked for being a Morman.

Newt Gingrich is in the spotlight now. He is being attacked by not only Mitt Romney, and the media, but also the NRA. Romney stated that Newt profited as a Freddic Mac Spokes Person before it went into bankruptcy and therefore made millions. Romney also, told Gingrich that it was horrible that he divorced a dying wife, was married three times, as well as having numerous affairs.

Then Rick Perry attacked Newt Gingrich with this statement " If you cheat on your wife, you'll cheat on your business partners. It's a characteristic people look at" The, at the same time, Santorum said " Certainly, it's a factor and it should be when you are electing a leader".

When Newt Gingrich was attacked by the NRA, people in the NRA began to call gun registered gun oweners and telling them not to vote to Gingrich because he is opposed to gun ownership.

The next thing Gingrich was attacked by was the Media. The Media has been showing people Gingriches tax plan, and talking about how horrible it is. It actually is pretty horrible to me.

Gingrich has been able to stand up to his attacks, even though he has been attacked very hard, not just by the other republicans who are trying to run to be president, and the media, as well as the NRA.

Another thing which is confusing, is why they are attacking each other so hard and for so long? It is just recently they have started to talk about President Barak Obama and what he has done wrong.

How heated are these debates going to get? How is going to win, and how?

I understand that there is only one way. It is freedom way. No system is going to fix the mess we are in. Only God can do. We must return to God.

xstatic You are very correct. No on is doing anything at all to help any of us right now. So, who is doing the best thing? Right now? No one.

There seems to be the Red Team and the Blue Team and no crossing the line to get things done. President Obama says, and it is true, that the two parties have very fundamental differences about how things should be done. So nothing moves and they keep shooting us in the foot.

We need more then that. We need people who will help us, defend the nation and much more. That is not happening now. You have made a very good comment. Thank you.

That is too bad, it makes people sick to the stomach to watch the ad. Maybe this is one of the reasons people don't vote. They are sick and tired of all of this. Thank you for your comment. It was very good.

There is a reason politics is called a game... because it is about strategy more than it has ever been about actual political standpoints. Think about Gingrich's response to the CNN debate question where they asked about his second wife's statements about an open marriage. He didn't answer the question, but rather, attacked the commentators. It is a brilliant strategy to garner public opinion (as can be seen by his win in SC), but he didn't really offer any defense of himself. He tapped into a fundamental problem (to protect himself more than to correct the system... but hey?), and that is why the voters responded as they did. There is a horrible slant in news. Take a big name and bring them down. Each channel needs to get viewers and ratings, so they attack the most popular candidate, that is simple.

While the Reagan 11th says don't attack other Republicans, this race has been mostly a fight between the nominees. They attack each other, because that is what they have to do to win. Sadly, politics is so rarely about actual politics anymore, but rather, being in the spotlight of the slanted media. If everyone sees a candidate, and the candidate isn't completely torn apart (Romney/Gingrich), then he can become a more electable candidate. That is also why it is considered a theater, production and so on: because everything is for attention.

Michele: They attack each other because it is a process of elimination to end up with a nominee. It's political theater. They are also building their brand, because they market themselves as a product. Thanks to the Supreme Court's ruling on Citizens United, big monied special interest, and super PACS can create attack ads without the candidates approval or knowledge. This influences the candidate to be beholden to special interest and not to the publics issues all though, they make you think it is by political theater.

Thanks for asking the question why Michele. The system is broken and we have to decide the cause in order to fix it.

I would suggest the root can be traced to money. A candidate running for office or in office is highly dependent upon funds to stay in office.

In fact, a good part of their day is dedicated to this very cause.

Get Money out of politics. Its a good place to start.
