Why is Iran a Threat When They have the Nuclear Weapon?

Updated on January 18, 2012

Why does the government of Iran hate America so much when their population does not? Iranians are some of the smartest people, they know their government is full of BS, and yet they are powerless unless something happens.

Iran will probably succeed in getting some nuclear, small, weapons. Remember, even a small one is horribly deststructive within the kill radius. Think of one exploding somewhere in or near NYC, SF, LA, Manhattan, Chicago, Miami. Not pretty.

Iran claims it is developing nuclear ambitions to produce electricity. With Iran now facing dire inflation and rationing, developing it is costing $1-2,000 per kilowatt when instead of $400 for gas. Iran has enough natural gas to last 270 yrs., and every year they produce more than used so they export it and its electricity via high tension wires. So, it does sound like an excuse.

An Iran with even a small nuclear device can suddenly do may other things it could not do before:

  1. Deter US intervention in the immediate area
  2. Threaten Europe or Middle East
  3. Counter the nuclear presence of Pakistan, India, Russia and US in the Persian Gulf
  4. Deter Israeli nuclear use or threaten it to produce compromise
  5. Greatly cause destruction within Israel
  6. Become the leader of the Islamic world that others fear
  7. Counter Saudi Arabia's close ties with the USA and threaten them
  8. Threaten the USA directly with a dirty bomb

That is why the West should do something in 2012 to dismantle for many years Iran's dream. let's not forget that it was Iran than used 100,000 children during the Iraq-Iran war in the 1980's to clear Iraq's minefields to allow its military to attack through. As the children ran across, even Iraqi soldiers were stunned and did not fire-they did not have to because the kids were exploding the mines in non man's land and becoming a "martyr" that Iran so cherishes.

If Iran is willing to use its own children to become sacrificial lambs for some political agenda, do you really think they would hesitate using the nuclear device?

what facts??? why are you focusing on Iran saying that israel (the worst case of illegal immigration in the history of mankind) should be 'wiped off the map' when israel has for all intents and purposes wiped PALESTINE off the map? from late 1940's til today, the amount of settlements and land the jews have illegally taken over in Palestine, has basically left the Palestinians homeless on their own land!

imagine giving a refuge to people under trials, only to have them kick you out of your own place?

yes, surely, lets agree to disagree on this - there is no way israel has a toe to stand on, never mind a leg!

I can see that you refuse to believe the facts,so, let's simply agree to disagree. However, if no other reason why Iran should not get a nuke, the mere fact the president vows to destroy another country and deny the holocaust, it enough reason.

you say they refused inspection, but IAEA have just held meetings with the Iranians during Jan 2012, and more are planned for Feb 2012... it doesnt seem they have anything to hide. in fact they have allowed investigations into their nuclear program during 2011 also.

furthermore, as i cover in my hub, even if Iran does have nuclear weapons, why is it any more of a threat than Israel (a country that has the most nukes per resident in the entire world!!!), Korea, Pakistan, US, UK, France, etc etc.?

this is a severe case of double standards on the part of Israel and US.

you mentioned that you wish the iranian people would overthrow the government...whatever the people of iran decide, they should be left to make their own decisions, the US, Israel and the UK need to stop pursuing their oil-fuelled desires in other peoples countries, as its clearly nothing to do with freedoms - people IN the US are unable to protest without being forcibly removed, pepper sprayed, beat down or shoved around!

hinazille-just this week, Iran refused to let the IAEA inspect the facilities, why? human nature what it is, if one has nothing to hide, then open the doors. Also, just because Iran has not waged war means little, they were really not capable of it or had no reason. Iran has said it would like to destroy Israel. regardless, I wish the iranian people would overthrow the government. They are great people.

After reading your hub, it seems you believe Iran is a threat to the West and Israel due to its imaginary nuclear weapons. the IAEA ( a UN influenced body ) has rejected claims that Iran possesses or is developing nukes for weaponry. I cover some more points in my hub, considering what you have spoke about here, I would love to get your insight on the facts I have presented.

PS - we need to remember that Iran has not waged war on any country in the last 200 years - whereas America has waged atleast 3 wars in the last decade AND it admittedly develops and utilises nukes... who is more of a threat?

Since my last comment I found out the Mullahs in Iran are really ramping up their 12er agenda. They're watching everybody and if you are even suspected of not believing in their plan to hasten the coming of Mahdi, you risk losing all your property and/or being killed. They fully intend to start Armageddon ASAP.

Religion of peace? No way! Islam is the religion of middle ground: There's peace in it, and there's war too, if you have to fight: "And fight in the Way of Allah those who fight you, but transgress not the limits. Truly, Allah likes not the transgressors."

Quite different than the Bible isn't it? "However, in the cities of the nations the LORD your God is giving you as an inheritance, do not leave alive anything that breathes." Deuteronomy 20 something.

I think your last question sums up the situation as nothing else could. God help us all. I'm just as worried about them already having it as them getting it because typically by the time something becomes news it's a done deal.

Ahmadinejad has made it quite clear........he hates Israel and the US. with that said, I think we must let Isreal intelligence and US intelligence stay on top of this situation, and do what the must.

Islam and violence are inherent , despite all the sweet talk of Islam being a religion of peace. In India during Islamic rule the Hindu population went down by 80 million. Islam believes in Jihad and there is a lot of double speak on it. the fact is that Islam cannot co exist with other religions. That is the reason that in Muslim countries the worship of christian and Hindu faith is banned. What have the apologists of Islam to say about it?

There is only ONE reason Iran is developing a nuclear weapon (the nuclear energy ruse is just that) and that is to kill Jews and create chaos.

If you don't know who the 12th Imam (or Mahdi) is do some research. Imanutjob (Iran's president) is what they call a 12er. He thinks he can hasten the coming of the 12th Imam by starting a nuclear war.

By the way, Rick Santorum is the only presidential candidate who is even talking about this. If Iran gets the bomb, they will not hesitate to use it.

Contrary to what our propagandist want Americans to believe, the Qu'ran teaches jihad against all infidels.

      Convert or die.

This has been going on for centuries.
