Virginia is a passionate progressive and now leads a group of women activists in her retirement community. It's not safe to ignore politics.

Bernie Has Funny White Hair

"He's too old and he has funny white hair... said no one ever about the founding fathers." People tease Senator Sanders about how wild his hair gets while he's making an impassioned speech. He worries more about saving America than about his hair.

Senator Sanders - A Wise And Witty Man

Much of the time, Bernie Sanders is deadly serious but he has his humorous side too. After all, he's trying to start a movement to get the people involved in taking back their government. With billionaires, lobbyists and big corporations calling the shots in Congress, it's an uphill battle.

Some people say he's angry all the time. They need to watch more than just a 2-second clip on the evening news. Once they listen to a full speech by Senator Sanders and see what he plans to accomplish, they'll understand that he's passionate about rescuing the poor and middle class from ongoing decline.

He's a wise man, but witty as well. It shows up more in television interview shows where he relaxes a bit and lets his smile come out. His twitter followers are familiar with his pithy humor when he gives a running commentary on the Republican debates.

Bernie on the Jimmy Fallon Show

Jimmy Fallon has a game he plays with celebrities. The guest puts on headphones with music playing so he can't hear what Fallon says. Then the guest has to guess, sort of by lip-reading, what the phrase or word was.

Bernie didn't have too much trouble guessing FEEL THE BERN. Watch the video, which is quite short, to see how it went.

Did You Miss Seeing Bernie on SNL?

It was great, Bernie Sanders appeared on Saturday Night Live on February 6, 2016. Larry David was the host, so double the Bernies for some fun. Keep scrolling down to see the video of Bernie in a skit. It's set on the sinking Titanic and a billionaire wants the women and children in a lifeboat to get out so he can get in. Bernie appears and defends the poor.

Witty Tweets by Bernie Sanders During the Republican Debates

  • War, war, war. When do we get to their other major priority: tax breaks for billionaires?
  • Trump. What a pleasant and humble person. Can't stop saying kind and generous things about his fellow Republicans.
  • Does anyone know... when will this debate finally end?

These were retweeted hundreds of times and there were headlines the next day saying,

Bernie Sanders and the Betty White Zone

Since I'm such a yuge fan of Bernie, I keep alert for any mentions of him online and for new videos on YouTube. (Yes, I meant to say "yuge" which is the funny way Bernie says "huge.")

Anyway, while scouting around to get my Bernie-fix for the evening, I happened to catch Seth Myers giving a little analysis of why Senator Sanders draws such allegiance from millennials. He said that t is unusual for young people to make a hero of someone in Bernie's age bracket. One of the reasons, he said was that Bernie had tapped into the Betty White zone.

Now, we all admire the outspoken Betty White and she's always a hit when she appears on a show. I can no longer find the YouTube clip to share so you could hear about the Betty White zone is and how it fits Bernie. Seth also explains that although Hillary aspires to the Betty White zone, it isn't working for her.
