Problem Sur La Voie!

Good Morning Breakfastpoppers. Today is Tuesday, March 25, 2014. Our French friend, Antoine, has joined me for breakfast this morning. He baked a huge batch of croissants and you are all invited to share in the deliciousness. Antoine is quite concerned about our health and he would like to chat with us. See you soon.

Bonjours mes amis. Il est moi, Antoine. Cancer patients are discovering that some of the nation's best cancer hospitals will not be available to them under Obamacare. Insurers in state after state involved in the exchanges are excluding these elite hospitals in an effort to keep costs down.

STOP!

Memorial Sloan-Kettering is included by two out of nine insurers in New York City. At present it has two out-of-network agreements with two more companies. An Associated Press survey found that just four out of 19 comprehensive cancer centers that answered the survey have access through all of the insurance companies in their state exchanges. Patients are being denied access to quality care. This really is a matter of life and death. It really is ironic. President Obama promised that patients could not be refused insurance because of a cancer diagnosis. The exact opposite is happening now, because patients are being denied the kind of quality care that these elite institutions offer.

The exchanges are narrowing their list of providers to keep costs down. When President Obama promised healthcare for everyone, he never mentioned what kind of healthcare it was going to be. Superb cancer hospitals utilize the very latest clinical research in combination with a diverse approach to cancer treatment that produces better than average survival rates.

Ignorance is Not Bliss!

People signing up for the exchanges are not being made aware of how restrictive these plans are. Their relief at being able to obtain insurance quickly fades to despair when they learn how limited their choices are. It is also possible that this move to narrow the networks will spread to employer provided insurance, as well. The Obama' Administration's Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services recently released a report predicting that Obamacare could cause premiums to rise for almost two-thirds of small to medium- sized businesses. What this means is that about 11 million people will experience the pain of higher premiums. The true numbers are much higher than this. This low-ball estimate is just the tip of the iceberg.

The outlook for cancer patients is even worse.. Without the freedom to seek the most innovative care, people will be forced to accept second and third tier treatment. The so-called Affordable Care Act is not affordable and clearly it is not designed to offer the kind of quality care patients deserve.

Stay Healthy!

The only solution to this continuing fiasco is to dismantle Obamacare. This bug doubts that any of this will get turned around. Governments grow, they never shrink. Government bureaucracy doesn't solve problems, it creates them. President Obama will never abandon his "signature" legislation. He promised us that he would fundamentally change America and thus far he is keeping his word.

Antoine's Song

Let's go children of the homeland

The day of reckoning has arrived

Against you, tyranny's ugly flag is raised...
