If the fetus you save is born gay,
will you continue to fight for it's rights?
Gay, straight, Blue, green or purple... each life you save is just that... a life. They have just as much right to live as anyone.
human rights are inherent dignity and alienable rights. as long its human it has rights.
The problem comes from no concise answer as to when a zygote becomes a human. Chances are that if you use the religious view point about when we evolve into a human, you are more than likely going to believe no one is born gay. If you use science to determine when a zygote is a human being entitled to rights, you will have already accepted the numerous studies that show homosexuallity to be a naturally occuring part of nature.
The problem I have with the first approach is that the religious actually pretend they know more about homosexuality than the doctors, scientists, and the homosexuals themselves.
I don't mind giving someone the benefit of the doubt on occasion but I refuse to give them the benefit of rediculousness, ignorance, or arrogance.
what kind of question is that. if you didn't continue to fight for ANY child your not even worth the air you breath.
Stump, why don't you put what you said here into a hub and get comments that way. I think you already got the 300 words needed to make a hub. If you already have a hub of this then please let me know what it is and I will visit it for sure and leave my comment there.
I cannot imagine as a parent that you would not. Now let's define what we are speaking of in terms of "rights", then maybe we can have a discuss on the issue. WB
Short answer: yes.
Long answer: It's very convenient to call something that you or someone else doesn't have a "right" and then demonize the other side when they don't give it to you. Using the word "rights" makes the argument semantic. Interestingly, the concept of human rights was invented by religion, not science. I don't think there's an empirical way to prove whether or not something is a right. The best defense of the whole concept of rights is that all people are created with equal standing by a personal God and are therefore entitled to dignity.
This can be answered very simply: yes. The fact that it's gay is irrelevant.

I know being openly gay, coming out the closet, gay rights etc., seems to be one of the latest fads in today's society. But don't you think at times society as a whole (in particular Hollywood and the music industry since celebrities have the most influence on society) comes to the resuce to pamper...

The national debate around abortion centers around two peaks of moral high ground. There is the woman's right to have ultimate control over her own body versus the right to life of a fetus. I will admit upfront to being a pro-choice advocate. I am not saying I approve abortion...
