    Nooooooo unfortunately.
If I had anything to do with it, the world as we know it will end, and a new one will begin immediately where all men are equal and wealth is equitably ditributed.
The will be no more strife and suffering, illness and disease and childhood suffering and hunger will be eleminated forever.
People will truly be judged by the contents of their hearts, ugly men will have a shot at gorgeous women and peace will reign supreme all over the world.

Rogo,I dont wish for the world to end.I do how ever wish that some how we could help to make everything that you listed happen. No one should have to  hurt because of the selfishness of another human being. We don't need the world to end to make the suffering stop.We can all do our part, well the better half of us,and work ourselves to the bone to help those less fortunate. Thank you guys for your comments!

I have heard it said that the world as we know it will end which means the world will be here, but the terms will be different.  An example: if the North and South poles were to reverse, than up would be down and vice versa.  Is that enough to screw everything up sufficiently to say the world as we know it will end.  If nothing else, the globes in all classrooms around the world would be wrong because the world as we knew had changed.

(2012) is NOT the "End of Days", just the end of the current Age of Mankind according to the Mayan Calendar's "long cycle". The next cycle (or Age) starts right after. Just because they didn't "publish" the next calendar, doesn't mean that time stops (or the "world is over"). Their civilization just didn't stick around long enough to do the next "printing".

In astronomical theory, with the upcoming alignment of the Galactic Equator (Milky Way), the Solar Solstice and other alignments of heavenly bodies, this can have great effects on our world. Just as the moon effects the tides, the stellar bodies likewise effect our solar system and so forth. Our sun is at an apex of increased solar storms, flares and sunspots and as this "Galactic Conjunction" approaches, we have seen increased earthquakes, storms, volcanic activity, and other natural disasters over the last fews years, which should climax at the 2012 equinox date (Dec.21st). That is what all the current controversy about world events is hinging on, especially in reference to the cosmology of the Universe.

Whether this actually means something significant for our current world civilization is another topic altogether. Many people agree that we are on the cusp of a great transition in the world. I feel that this is simply Biblical Prophecy unfolding before our eyes, but NOT quite the "End Times" yet. We are just at the dawn of a blessed NEW ERA. Whether it happens exactly on the 2012 date is another matter, but we are close, none-the-less.

Prophecy does depict a series of worldwide cataclysmic events that will occur during the predicted "Tribulation period", and therefore is something of note, especially with the potential we have been seeing in world events and news headlines that have been on the rise as the 2012 date approaches. According to the same, this is only a brief 7 year period however, as a transition into the next age as well. How we survive as the world's people during this time is dependant on much deeper matters of faith.

"For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be." (Matthew 24:21 NKJ)
