Why the double standards when it comes to things like homosexuality?

So when it comes to being gay, supporters argue its "natural", something innate. Although a matter of personal choice (no matter how much against cultural norms & religious values prevalent in most societies it remains) in my opinion would be a more logical argument. But when it comes to alcoholism, its considered a "problem", having some psychological basis. My point is, isn't homosexuality also rooted in psychology? a habit that one might have acquired owing to the company & or circumstances. Why do some in the west just conveniently regard it as being natural? To affect legislation?
