   Everyone can stop littering, and plan gasoline trips accordingly.  I think that these are the two big ones.

   Environmental degradation is serious global issue. But to deal with it, the process has to start with individuals. We have to teach individuals in proper ways to use the natural resources. This I mean doing it sustainably. What is really serious is that;
   we have to feed the ever growing population. If that's the case, then men must intervene into and disturb the natural environment and the equilibrium state at which the ecosystems exists.
   
   So there's a dilemma. We have to feed the growing population and we must sustainably use the environmental for future generations. There is no answer that can yield results over night for questions like this.
   
   But I say IGNORANCE is the major factor enhancing environmental; degradation. We know it, but just We just blindly go and do it. Destroy the environment I mean.
   
   As en environmentalist myself, I always wish we teach "Environmental Degradation in junior schools all the way to universities. The same message repeated many times will sink in to the minds of people. When they are informed, we can then mobilise to go out drive activities that seek to address the issue of environmental degradation .

   Recycle.  Drive less and/or drive a more efficient car.  Support renewable energy.  Support strong environmental regulation and cleanup laws.

   Don't get on a airplane if not necessary, get an energy efficient car and heat,buy in bulk and use wisely, use biodegradable products, use clean energy, built/buy a ecohouse. A few references:

   If you live close to work, ride a bicycle, it doesn't require gasoline and gives you exercise. You could also turn off lights in other rooms of your home if you are not there and use the oven and other appliances only if necessary. Keeping your thermostat on 68 degrees can save money and energy as well. Just a few things that came to mind.
